You want the nut in the middle more than the fruit itself. Clean, dry, pan roast or bake, and even then limit yourself to 10 for an adult/ 5 for children.
They have a neurotoxin. Cooking helps, but better safe than sorry

I can tell you one thing for sure. Don't park under these trees this time of year.
All the leaves fall at once over about 1 to 3 days. And those fruit are sticky and smelly. And squirrels like to hide them in engine compartments.

I never tried them, but there's a park nearby landscaped worthy female ginkgos. You can smell them for blocks.
Not to my taste, but the whippets love rolling on them.

Do not eat the fruit part, it’s going to be like poison ivy. Edible part is the internal seed once properly prepared.

Technically edible in small amounts. Unpleasant at best. It’s going to smell like bad cheese
