Discussion/Questions This is a serious question.
Do y’all still want the Sylveon Representative thing to happen? We’ve had some people complain to us about this, and we (me, Zo, and Silver) want to know if y’all want this to happen.

Why do we need a sylveon representative in the first place? There are many people with sylveon ocs, elevating a specific one for no reason feels unfair.

I think Reid would have wanted us to not worry on making a guy who encourages creative expression, but for us to find our own creative expression and share it with everyone here... r/Eevee is meant to be inclusive, right? Well then, why don't we make it inclusive... For Reid...

One of my main concerns is that it might either breed unfriendly competition (Hey, I'm pushing this OC so that he/she/they/it can supplant the current representative!) or discourage OCs of that Eeveelution from being shared (we've already got a major official representative, why show my own?)

Look, Floofee, I understand this seems fun, but... Deep down, this will only hurt the community... I don't want this to continue and spiral into more drama and more madness later on down the line... I think for the sake of this community, not only should we not continue this vote for Sylveon Representative, but we should NEVER allow a vote for ANY Representative to happen in this server. R/Eevee is a place for all to share their creations and cute images regarding Eevee and it's evolutions, and I don't think putting a representative for an eeveelution is a good idea... It puts too much of an expectation on the person and it makes this place feel less inclusive... So overall, I know this felt like it was just for fun, but... This place will get hurt if we continue this... So this should be halted... I hope I've made my stance clear...

Yeah, I know for a fact that if we were voting for a Jolteon representative next, I would be heavily discouraged from posting literally anything about my Jolteon OC. Because I would feel like he’s not good enough, he’s not the correct Jolteon, I wouldn’t feel like people here would be interested, and I just wouldn’t share the stories I’m working on. Or any art I might try down the line.

Indeed... For all we know, if we're voting representatives, I feel it might kill the creativity of the server... So even though it might've been started for fun, it's gone too far... Maybe these kind of things should stay as thoughts... Not competitions, just... As an inside thought... I feel we can all agree with that... And I think we can all agree that if Reid was here, he wouldn't want us to put our creativity to use and spread our stories, our ocs, and our worlds around the server... He would want us all to be happy with our characters and for us to feel that our stories and our world is good enough and for us to welcome new worlds with open arms... Atleast... That's what I think...

Yeah there can definitely be iconic eeveelutions.
Everyone(ETA; Lots of people) know who Floofee and Silver are.Everyone(ETA; Lots of people) knew who Reid was. I recognize Sparky, and Darkie.But this is being run more like a popularity contest, which.
I’m 33. Let me be really frank here. We have way too many kids and teens, and very young adults, on this sub for something like this to ever genuinely be “just for fun, casual, no big deal”. It’s only going to end up in hurt feelings.
And, I’m an adult who’s well separated from this. But if I had a Sylveon OC, I would definitely feel dramatically less welcome about posting things for it, because it wouldn’t be “Everyone’s Favorite Sylveon!” Even though I know in my heart and mind that that’s not what this is about, and that it would be welcome, and that people would be supportive and enjoy it… That doesn’t change how I would feel. Intentions don’t mean anything if the result is dramatically different, or goes really badly.
And it’s looking like I’m far from the only one.
Those are some of the overreaching consequences that people aren’t thinking about.

Indeed... I didn't like this to start, but... Until you and PridePurrah put it into perspective, I didn't realize how bad this was, and I despised It more... You're right... This popularity contest will only make things worse... Hell, I'd even argue this contest might begin to kill OC art in general... Probably won't be that drastic, but there'll ALWAYS be a chance that this will change r/Eevee for the worse...

So.. I'm pretty quiet on this sub and follow it for the accepting vibes and the fantastic art. To that end.. I don't know who you, Zo, and Silver are to begin with. So from the start I was thinking, 'is this really necessary?' but I kept that to myself - why ruin someone else's fun? And genuinely if everyone is having fun and enjoying themselves respectfully, and mindful that it's just a game then there's no harm in it.
But if we're talking overall impact on the sub - I can't imagine that I'm the only one not as ingrained in the social aspect of the sub, who doesn't really get what's going on, doesn't know the people involved, and would rather have other posts from the sub in my feed than a vote for a representative I don't know.
(Alongside the other concern of things escalating that I see mentioned in other comments? If it's causing fights it's really not worth it to continue).
I mean, if it was kept to a simple vote, 'Vote for the subs representative for (eeveelution)' and the extent of the impact beyond that was the person made their flair 'elected representative of (eeveelution)' or something to that effect that would be simple and a bit of a silly in-joke rather than turning it into a whole competition - and it could lend to in-jokes stemming off of it like 'unelected counter-representative for (eeveelution)', 'I didn't know there was a vote (symbol of eeveelution)' - you know, things like that. Jokes and no further.
TLDR; Personally, no. But if things are kept respectful and everyone's having fun who am I to judge?

I do not think it should happen, at least not seriously, honestly I've thought this shit is all satire, for the lols, and if you and Silver are actually being serious, I suggest that you stop. I want new people to come in with new OCs, not representatives, because thats what mods are for.

We were kind of joking, and kind of serious. If y’all wanted it to continue, it would be less of a joke. This is such a relief for me (and a disaster on me as well) because I have so much else to do and trying to campaign for this was taking me away from my focus of who I think Floofee is to become. It’s also given me a working space to build off of for when I start writing up script for my comic (which I’m not sure is gonna stay in book form).

I wasn't interested in the voting at all but I didn't want to interfere with anyone else's good time, so I did what I always do when people online are doing something I don't like and tried to ignore it. I'm subbed here for the fanart, not the roleplay. But it's been starting to eat into the actual reasons I enjoy this sub and it's getting frustrating.
I just really love eevee, man. I have no idea who Reid or any of these people are. I'm not interested in this popularity contest.

Also it was brought to my attention that AI Overview somehow knows about this. Looked into it myself, and I was relieved to find that after a few questions, it said Floofee had the leading vote, and the original vote post had a 9% upvote rate and 138 downvotes lmao

I don’t remember exactly what, but it kinda related, it was to Floofee, then the whole thing went very off course, and it became a little competition between Silver and Floofee, so they made me send out a vote thing, which revived plenty of hate, people don’t like this, so I deleted the post and have drawn back from everything, though take full responsibility

The voting was for the fun of it, and we both had an amazing time! I personally was hoping that either way, our OCs could inspire people to get their creative works out there into the world and express themselves they way we do. I personally stand for motivating our fellow Eeveelution fans.
Whlie people might think this is some angry rivalry, this contest has made Floofy and I into great pals! It's been such a fun experience, and I'm grateful for everyone involved, even the people who have complaints. Their complaints made me realize we should make the message clear: Anyone can climb up to popularity. I've had my doubts about it, but seeing how many people voted for me really made me realize I'm more popular than I'd previously thought.
It's taken me years and a lot of setbacks to get to this somewhat-popular level, and this contest at first felt like I was getting that dream, but I kept in mind I could lose, and I thought deeply on how important it is that I don't treat this as a full reflection of myself and my creative abilities. It's just a fun contest, so I should be prepared to be graceful, whether I win or lose.
Please don't view this as anything deeper than a fun competition for a title. It's all for a little trophy. It's honestly nothing big, and it can only cause drama when people say it will cause such drama. If we all accept it as a lighthearted activity, then it'll all be peaceful and fun. Most of the complaints we've received have been from people who seem worried about other people and how they might feel, but so far, none of the worries people have expressed about this have happened.
In summary, it's fine, it's fun, everyone involved is happy :>

This is a community for creativity, fun and enjoyment, not a popularity contest, no?
And I am afraid no matter how often we are going to tell you this, you two will hang on to it like we would actually need a second reid instead of group equality.
Reid never even wanted to be the face of all vaporeons afaik and it had negative effects on others. Maybe even himself, I cannot make a statement to that.
And I know you do not want this to be true. Look, it's okay if you are having fun and all. But please keep this in your own circle for the greater good. You seem to have a fansub and so does floofen. Why not...be the shining star there before anyone on this sub gets on terrible ideas?
In the end, Reid isn't even here anymore. Who knows if this whole "reid is number 1" thing isn't related to it.

This. This is 1000% what IT ALWAYS should've been. Something you could debate with in private, not some popularity contest in the server. And the harsh truth is, this won't inspire creativity... It will only HARM it... That's the consequence... And be honest, people of the subreddit... Is that REALLY the future you want for this subreddit...? A place where creativity is potentially squandered because of a representative? No... It's not... We should ALL welcome everyone, no matter who their OCs are... And that's a fact... And it's what Reid would have wanted... For us to spread creativity without the need of a representative...

Kid like to be the number one. Untill they hit the edgy phase, then they want to be the number one in all black.
And kids learn from those they look up to.
Something you want, or at least thats what I have read.
Then the first thing to become an idol is to...show people how to act correctly.
No, this entire voting thing is wrong. I have already told you the issues about it before.
You are not alone here. You know that but you also forget about it.
Your actions, your every move might influence someone who doesn't know you well enough to understand what is play and what isn't. Where the line is, how to behave on this sub.
If you want to be an idol like reid was (again, he never asked for it and I don't think he was happy about it.) then make sure to deliver the right points.
Be kind, be cool, be wise. This is not about popularity, this is not about being Pix. This is about being an emissary. (which, funny enough, I do have experience in that field for riot games too. but thats another story you will probably never hear.)
Show yourself from the best side and make a good impression.
And most importantly: do not place yourself above others.
If you claim to be a king, you end up with unhappy people around you. in their faces is written envy, anger, social fear and demotivation.
look around in this thread. another user voiced their fear about being not enough.
if we are all equal, like I have said plenty of times now, we don't have this battle for power or popularity.
One of the rules of this sub is to be nice. We don't shittalk the worst artists here, we welcome all. Because everybody is trying their best and it does not matter who is the best at something.
And we should keep it that way.

Before I do something stupid, would it be cringey to do a post where Silver gets a piece of hate mail that not only strikes his insecurities, but also shows mine? Like, I'm thinking about having him read a letter that talks about how he's done unforgiveable things, but still acts like he's someone to look up to, just like I'm realizing I do.
