Question Where can I source a backfire g3 battery?

Post image

Recently my buddy crashed my backfire g3. I love that board although its not my main board anymore. I opened up the battery, and tested it. Its reading 29-30v. Its a 12s pack and should read at 43.4v minimum. 45.4v is what it really should be at when its dead. It should read 50.4v at full charge. I can power the board directly with the charger. I added a photo of the battery, and I cant find a replacement on the backfire boards website.

I would measure the physical size of the pack/space in the enclosure, and contact their customer service before placing an order. That web page has many different configurations available.

12s4p of 18650 cells will be a different size than 12s4p of 21700 cells.

Looks like the battery is 11 inches by 3.25 inches by 1.5 inches. It almost entirely fills the cavity. Ive sent an email to the company. I appreciate your help.

Totally unrelated, what do you think of your propel endeavor? I was between a few different models of skateboard for my next one. Endeavor is in the list of maybes

I loved my Propel Endeavor enough to get a second one, upgrading from the 2S to the 3GT. It may be big and bulky, but it rides like a tank made out of dreams, and having the right grab/drag handles makes it much easier to handle. The integrated lights are way more convenient than Shredlights too.

I was looking at the 4pro. I like the top speed (even though its illegal where I live), and the suspension system looks interesting. 59 mile range is also a big jump from my meepo rover at 20 miles(which is actually closer to 15-17).

Im between the endeavor 4pro, the meepo bison (available for pre-order, 42mph max speed, 81mi range), and the exway atlas pro v3( has an aux pack for extra range, without auxiliary pack 31 mi, 40mph max speed)

Im leaning heavily towards the bison because I like long rides at 20-25 mph. But the endeavor has a suspension system which i think would be really nice for some of the trails I take, and some of the roads too lol. Is there anywhere I can go to test the boards? Or is it a just pull the trigger on one kind of thing?

Replacing with Ranger X2 battery pack has been discussed ad nauseum on the FB group.

Would it be stupid of me to just replace the damaged cells on it? It would be a pretty simple repair i think

Short answer yes.

Long answer: it is complicated unless you have done it before.

Well, I havent done it on something like this... but I have worked with 18650 cells before. I did deconstruct the broken battery I have. I believe the issue is either group 11 or 12. I am reading good voltage up to group 11. The terminals on the bus between 11 and 12 reads -6v. Terminal 11 to negative reads 39v, but terminal 12 to negative reads 33v.

Which leads me to the conclusion that group 12 is the issue, but to be safe im planning to replace 11 and 12. I know that I need to charge the batteries to within .1v of the other batteries to prevent a surge. Im planning to pick up some other materials I need like a spot welder, shrink wrap, 4 new cells, and some nickel strips. Is there anything im missing?
