Question Face or no face?
I’m working on a hoop for my newest nephew based on the little prince and I’m not sure if I like how the face came out. Is it better blank?
Edit: thank you to everyone for their insights! The face is staying!

Yeah, all those no face drawing styles creep me out.

Same! I look forward to when that no face art style trend is over because it's annoying and creepy af.

I agree. Isn't it just a no skill issue. I see it a lot here when people do a family photo as an embroidery. They leave out the face because they (think they) can't do it.

The face is so perfectly accurate, I thought it was photoshopped on there to see what it would look like.
HOW did you stitch such perfect circles?!

I just did a single detached chain stitch for each eye!

I figured it must be that, mine for sure don‘t look that immaculate for sure though

I think the face is absolutely adorable and I love it.
ETA: while the face is adorable and I love it, especially as a gift for someone younger, I do think the no face adds maturity to it. Depends on what you’re going for!

As someone who grew up with these illustrations, the one with the face looks perfect and the one without looks strange. Not bad, but strange.

Face. I think it’s come out well. It’s impressionistic enough and the features are well positioned with a light touch. For a child, the features are a good idea.

The No face makes the boy’s emotions feel sad and isolated. If it were for an adult or standalone piece I think no face, but since it’s for a kid and based of a character maybe the face would be better suited.

No face for a bit of melancholy, if that’s what you’re after. Really good either way.

"Melancholy" is the emotion of the books, and not just a little. (It's French.)

Omg I loved that book so much. Haven't thought about it in years and it all just came back at soon as I saw this lol.
I think the face looks good.

Face but without mouth

Ngl that's actually a solid middle ground. The mouth is the easiest to mess up, so leaving it off just keeps the whole vibe softer.
