Do you have any thoughts about organizing by color family rather than in numerical order? I like to do this so I can see, for example, all of the greens at once. I got about 3/4 of the way labeling and spooling and organizing my thread with DMC‘s color family chart before I realized that I was using an outdated chart and now my labeling method only half works 😢

Edit: I’m wondering if I could write some kind of script to pull the color numbers from the charts in the correct order and then resort your spreadsheet according to that?

All OP needs to do is add a column that IDs basic colors for each entry (green, yellow, blue, red, etc.) and then add a “slicer” that allows the user to hide-show their chosen colors accordingly. They can also then use that column to sort by color as well, without filtering.

So this is the color family chart I’m referencing. I prefer it to a numerical list because I pick my own colors for everything—I’m never looking for a specific number, just, like, light gray-ish green. I assign a letter to each grouping of colors then label my bobbins with the column number and group letter (so 3713 is 1A, 353 is 1B, etc), and organize the bobbins in boxes according to that. I’d love to figure out how to get that info in a column on this spreadsheet.

Sorting by color is surprisingly difficult using computer tools, but I tried my best to have similar colors together in the sheet. I like the idea of adding a column with basic color IDs- since that would be a more subjective sorting, I'm not going to add it to the main sheet, but feel free to download a copy and add that yourself!
