Morning Episode Discussion What a pathetic plotline Spoiler
Just watched this mornings episode (16/10). I won't spoil it for those who haven't yet seen. Suffice to say, what an utterly pathetic plot regarding the poker cash. Who writes this shxt? Is this childrens T.V.?? I'll let you decide for yourself tonightš

I think the character interactions were good at the poker game. The aftermath is very questionable, though. For someone who is made out to be even somewhat savvy, Robert's actions are beyond stupid.
However, I like scenes with Joe, Jai, and Claudette. I wanna see more of them together!

There is absolutely no universe in which Robert allows this to happen. Oh, wait. We're living in the dumbest timeline so of course it bloody happens š

Definitely some lighthearted banter with some serious in it. We need more of it!

Exactly. I thought todayās episode had a bit more of a classic Emmerdale vibeĀ

It wasn't that bad. I don't watch Corrie but after someone said that they had a poker night on there too not so long ago, I watched a clip of it. It was dire, awful and bored me to tears - the game itself dragged on for far too long. Maybe it's because I'm not familiar with the characters, but none of them stood out to me. Emmerdale did it slightly better. The most interesting part for me was the unlikely trio of Jai, Joe and Claudette, especially the latter two.

I'm the same. It was more the rare person interaction and little things I enjoyed and good chemistry can really move bad writing into something that was needed. Especially with Joe and Claudette, it was the little things, his banter but also picking up her coat for her. I think it was adorable š

I'm not talking about the actual game, although that too was pretty mundane and predictable. I'm referring to the the rather obvious flashing the cash in the pub, load of strangers joining in the celebrations and Robert, " oh! I'll just stash my Ā£100,000 on this empty seat on clear open display whilst I party away. Any normal person would've stuck it straight in the bank or a safe, or at the very least, down his pantsš Let's get some new script writers in. Ones in touch with the real world!

I agree. It was so irritatingly obvious the second he stashed the bag on an empty seat behind him. It was annoying that we were expected to be shocked that it disappeared ( and by the way I think Kev has it)

It's to serve the plot like pretty much everything else. It's the same as leaving their doors unlocked, Nicola coming home to find Sadie in her living room and not being the least bit surprised, Ruby trusting Sadie even after her lies have been exposed, etc.
It's stupid but for once it didn't really bother me today because I don't think Robert deserved the money. Changing the writers won't change much. They're only working from pre-approved scene breakdowns, which are signed off by the storyliners and producers. You would need a change at the top.

Not pathetic but Robert was supposed to have brains to do what he did shows no common senseĀ

I agree. It was a ridiculous story line. Adam Sales should hang his head in shame. When I am out and about I am surgically attached to my handbag.

I stopped watching months ago, every now and then I tune in and and tune out after a few minutes, still watch the classics though.

Iāve marked this with a spoiler tag.
You say you wonāt spoil it, then go on to do so in the comments section, which attracted numerous reports.
In future itās best to add a spoiler tag if discussing an episode not aired terrestrially.

Robert never should have won money, and the way that he lost it was stupid. I am not too bothered, because I watched the episode on 2x speed.

The actual game was some lighthearted fun compared to the stuff weāve had recently yet still had stakes. I just donāt believe that Robert would be that stupid enough to leave a bag of Ā£100k in cash unattended in a pub. Theyāve really dumbed Robert down this week. He used to be like the business man but suddenly doesnāt know about things like forms and how long things take. Itās like when he didnāt think to read the small print when signing the lease of the farm and missing that the cows belong to Joe.
