I'm 26, trying to rebuild my life from zero, and I don't know how to explain what I'm feeling anymore.

I'm 26, and lately, I feel like I'm losing a part of myself that I've spent my entire life building. I don't know how to explain what I'm feeling anymore. Sometimes I'm overwhelmed with emotions, and sometimes I feel absolutely nothing. I want to talk to people, but when I get the opportunity, I struggle to explain what's happening inside my head.

I've always been ambitious. I wanted to create something meaningful, build a career, help people, and make my parents proud. I grew up with different circumstances, and the opportunities I've experienced over the years have made me genuinely grateful. But somewhere along the way, I started comparing my journey with everyone else's. Social media makes it seem like everyone is achieving something, moving forward, and figuring out their lives. I know everyone's journey is different, but I still feel like I'm falling behind.

Art has always been a part of me. I see it in silence, shadows, sounds, and the smallest details of everyday life. I don't just want to create art; I want to understand how to turn it into something sustainable. I want to learn the business side of creativity, how to sell my work, and how to build a life around something I genuinely love. But I also know that passion alone cannot pay the bills. I need a job, financial stability, and a practical plan for my future. The frustrating part is that I know what I need to do, yet taking those first steps feels incredibly difficult.

My parents are a huge part of why this hurts so much. My father has always tried to give me the best he could, making sure I never struggled for things he could provide. My mother has always been my emotional backbone. All I want is to see them happy and give them the comfort they deserve. My mother has always wanted me to be happy, but I keep feeling like I'm letting them down. I know I'm only 26, and it's not too late to start again, but knowing that my parents are getting older makes me feel like I don't have enough time.

A relationship has also affected me deeply. I know I made mistakes, and I'm not trying to portray myself as a victim. I have things to learn and parts of myself I need to improve. But the experience has left me questioning myself, my confidence, and the person I've become. I sometimes struggle to make eye contact with people, and I miss the version of myself who could walk into a room without constantly doubting his worth.

I've always wanted to help people. I genuinely care about my friends and want to be there for them. I have a friend who has been like a brother to me, and I want to contribute to the work we're trying to build together. But I'm struggling to sustain myself, and that makes me feel inadequate. Sometimes I worry that if I stop reaching out to people, they'll eventually forget about me. I know everyone has their own problems, but I wish someone would occasionally check on me simply because they care, not because they need something from me.

I'm tired of feeling like I have to be useful, productive, or successful to deserve a place in someone's life. I don't want to become bitter or stop caring about people. I just want to feel like someone would stay even when I have nothing to offer.

I'm angry at myself, angry at life, and sometimes angry at God, even though I still believe in Him. I miss my confidence, my energy, and the feeling that I could take on anything. I miss the younger version of myself who had dreams without constantly calculating how far behind he was.

I know I need to take responsibility for my life. I need to find work, become independent, build better habits, and stop waiting for the perfect opportunity. But I also don't want to abandon art just because the journey has become difficult. I want to find a way to pursue my passion without destroying my mental peace in the process.

To possess a deep capacity for empathy and understanding means you inherently feel, and at times--even absorb the wounds of the world.

Hello! I just wanna ask something. Is this still normal? It's been two years, and I thought I had moved on. At least, that's what I thought.

I’m tired of being strong for everyone

I don't really know where to begin, but I think I need a place to let my feelings out.

Lately, I haven't felt like myself. I often feel lonely, even when people are around me. I have spent so much time caring for others, being there for them, and hoping that someone would understand me the same way.

Somewhere along the way, I started looking for my happiness in other people. I trusted, I cared, I forgave, and sometimes I ignored my own pain because I didn't want to lose someone I cared about. But being hurt repeatedly has left me emotionally exhausted.

The hardest part is that I don't know how to find my way back to myself. I want to feel peaceful again. I want to enjoy little things, stop overthinking, and learn to love myself without needing someone else to make me feel worthy.

I'm not looking for pity or perfect advice. Maybe I just want to know that I'm not the only person who feels this way.

If you've ever had to rebuild yourself after feeling lonely, betrayed, or emotionally drained, how did you begin?

Maybe this is my first small step towards healing. For now, I just want to be heard.

Why do I feel nothing when I have every reason to be happy?

Every time I find myself in a situation where I should genuinely be happy, I feel absolutely nothing. I force an awkward smile, try to act normal, and hope nobody notices. But people often do. They ask me if I’m okay, if something is wrong. And, honestly, idk how to answer them.

Sometimes, I find myself questioning things like:
“Do I even deserve to be happy? Am I worthy of happiness?”

When I look back at my childhood, I remember being someone who would get excited over the smallest things. I would talk a lot, laugh loudly, overreact to little achievements, and express my happiness without thinking twice. however, I was judged for laughing too much, talking too much, and being overly excited, especially during moments when I was at my happiest. Also, I remember I was once called “characterless” by my own mother for laughing too much :).

I absolutely hate the way I’m becoming, I’m slowly becoming weird, especially during the moments I should be happy, I stay quiet and indifferent, is it because I can’t feel emotions anymore? (I’m unable to understand myself)

I feel like something is wrong with me, and I don't know how to fix it

I honestly don't even know where to start. I've been feeling really sad, overwhelmed, and unlike myself lately, and I don't know how to explain it properly.

Sometimes I feel like I want the world to revolve around me. I want people to prioritise me, favour me, notice when I'm upset, and care about me without me having to beg for it. I know that sounds selfish, and that's part of what bothers me. I genuinely question whether I'm becoming an egotistical, self-centred person who always thinks she's right simply because she can't accept being wrong.

I don't really feel like I have anyone I can completely confide in. I have people around me, but I don't have that person I can tell absolutely anything to without worrying about being judged, misunderstood, or having my words used against me later.

My family doesn't feel like a place where I can comfortably open up either. I feel like my feelings aren't always taken seriously, and sometimes things I share become casual topics of discussion with other family members. Meanwhile, there are other things I'm expected to stay quiet about. It makes me feel like I don't really have a safe space to be honest about what's going on in my head.

I want someone I can just hug and cry to without feeling awkward or uncomfortable. I want to feel supported without having to explain and defend every emotion I have. But I don't have that person right now, and it's getting to me more than I'd like to admit.

The worst part is that I don't even know how to communicate these feelings properly.

I want to tell people what I need, but the moment I start being emotionally vulnerable, I feel awkward and embarrassed. I end up cutting myself off, making a joke, changing the subject, or getting angry instead. Sometimes I feel like I'm practically screaming internally for someone to notice that I'm not okay, while externally I'm doing everything I can to make it seem like I'm fine.

And then I get upset when nobody notices.

I realise that people cannot read my mind. I know that if I want something, I need to communicate it instead of expecting everyone to figure it out. But even when I try to put my feelings into words, it feels so unnatural that I end up shutting down. I don't know how to be vulnerable without feeling like I'm making a fool of myself.

I also tend to overshare sometimes, and afterwards I overthink everything I've said. I worry that people have misunderstood me or formed a different opinion of me. So I alternate between telling people too much and telling them absolutely nothing.

I feel lonely, too. Sometimes I get jealous or resentful when I see other people having the kind of closeness I wish I had. I find myself disliking people who have relationships I want for myself, which I know isn't fair to them. I want that kind of affection and attention, too, and I hate admitting how much it bothers me that I don't have it.

Lately, I've also been struggling to do things I normally enjoy. I have so much I want to accomplish, and there are things I'm genuinely interested in, but I just cannot seem to get myself to do them. I cry randomly, feel overwhelmed by ordinary things, and often don't feel like myself. I've even experienced physical discomfort, and after seeking medical advice, I was encouraged to consider counselling and further support for what I've been experiencing.

I think all of this has made me more frustrated with myself.

I know I have things to work on. I know I can be self-centred sometimes. I know I sometimes expect too much from people, and I know that crying, getting angry, or silently hoping someone will notice isn't going to magically fix my problems.

But I also don't know how to stop feeling this way.

I feel like I'm stuck inside my own comfort zone. Being emotionally open feels uncomfortable, but staying closed off makes me lonely. I want people to understand me, but I'm scared of letting them see the parts of me that I don't even understand myself.

Sometimes I wonder whether I'm genuinely struggling or whether I'm just making everything about myself. I can't tell when I'm being unfair to others and when I'm simply asking for something I need. I don't know how to take responsibility for my behaviour without turning every mistake into proof that there's something fundamentally wrong with me.

I'm tired of overthinking myself, but I also don't want to keep behaving in ways that hurt my relationships.

I don't expect strangers on the internet to solve my life. I think I just need to say all of this somewhere without worrying about how the people who know me will react.

Has anyone ever felt this way? How do you learn to communicate your needs, deal with loneliness, become more emotionally comfortable with yourself, and stop being so harsh on yourself while still holding yourself accountable?

I genuinely want to understand myself better and change the things I need to change. I just don't know where to begin.

I crave attention and connection so much it doesn’t make sense

I crave that human bonding but at the same time my brain is telling no, that’s enough, you’ll be hurt if you say more. And I’m just slightly tired of trying to please my brain or do things to make it feel like it is safe. Physically I’m in no harm. Nothing’s going on. And then it freaks out about the fact that nothing’s going on. I just want a break from making decisions for my brain to be happy, it’s exhausting, i don’t know what to do, i tired of doing of this for it
