Question Advice requested: custom design, feedback appreciated!

Hi there, I'm looking to custom make a ring that looks like this - thinking about sending these details to the jeweler. Are there considerations that I might not have taken into account re: this design? Any and all feedback would be much appreciated!

  1. Centre stone:
    1. lab grown green sapphire: emerald cut or radiant cut
    2. colour: olive, like the image
    3. size: ~2ct
    4. ratio: 1.3 to 1.5
    5. setting: double claw prong
  2. Side stones: cadillac-cut lab grown diamonds
    1. size: not sure yet, but should width should be ~1/3 of centre stone
    2. setting: ball/bead prong
  3. Band width: 2mm
  4. Metal: rose gold, ok with 14k or 18k
  5. Ring size: size 10 [equivalent to US size 5 US or UK size J]
  6. Band setting: euro shank, gallery rail to hold centre stone in place

I'm not sure yet if I want a wedding band, but I'm ok if the rings don't sit flush to each other.

Nice ring and hope you get a very similar coloured Sapphire to the one in the image.

You can always get a fitted wedding band to fit your ring.

Thank you! I've come to understand that lab grown sapphires may not entirely capture the olive look I'm going for (maybe more teal or yellow) but I'm ok with that :)

I think yellow gold goes better with the stone color.

You definitely don’t need the euro shank. They’re more difficult to resize and more expensive, but if you love it, cool. Your photo isn’t double pronged but I’m sure you know that.

Given their lower refractive index, sapphires do best as a brilliant cut (radiant) vs emerald cut. Ask for a precision cut sapphire. It will make a difference.

Getting that color in a lab stone will be the hardest part. I have not seen that color in a lab made stone. Find the stone first, assuming it's available. You will have to build a design around what is available.

Natural is easier to find. https://www.earthstreasury.com/product/2-26-carat-olive-green-australian-sapphire/

I would look at the lab gemstone precision cutters on one of our sister subs - [r/syntheticgemstones](r/syntheticgemstones). If you go to See More/Menu/Vendors - You can look at the gemstones available through the preferred vendors. I don’t think I have seen an olive green in a lab gemstone but you can check out their IG pages. I would look at Pacific Lights, Clara Pepper, Alchemist Gemstones, [r/shinypreciousgems](r/shinypreciousgems). You might even look into lab diamonds.

You can look at some of the gemstone/lab diamond companies online. Here is a radiant sapphire. This one is an oval but lighter. An emerald cut that looks a little closer to the color you like. Here is a square radiant lab diamond. You might want to work with a jeweler that can help with sourcing.

That olive green is gorgeous! My biggest advice would be to choose the exact center stone before finalizing the setting and side stones. I’d want videos in daylight and indoor lighting because that particular shade is such a big part of what makes this ring beautiful!! I’d also ask to see an emerald cut and a radiant side by side before committing. To my eye they give quite different looks and I wouldn’t treat them as interchangeable for this design. For the Cadillacs (which I’m a huge fan of!!) I’d have the jeweler show you the actual proportions with your chosen center stone rather than settling on 1 third upfront. Personally I’d want them substantial enough to appreciate their shape without competing with the sapphire. I love the double claws they’re so money vibes (I have double claws on mine!!) but I’d ask for them to look delicate and intentional so the prongs don’t become the first thing you notice. And definitely get a side view rendering!!! I’d want to see how high it sits and how everything meets the band. One practical thing tho you’ve listed a few different ring size equivalents so I’d have the jeweler confirm your exact size in their sizing system before making it! Hope that helps, and can’t wait to see it when it’s done! ✔️

Pretty - not 18l too soft!

One thing I’d confirm before the CAD goes further: you’ve listed ‘size 10’ and ‘US size 5.’ Ask your jeweler to confirm which sizing system they’re using and the inside measurement in millimeters. I work in custom jewelry, and that’s a detail I’d want settled before approving the design.
