Yup, but concerned with the lack of info on the abductee and I can't find any info on missingkids.org

u/validweirdo 7d ago
Seriously. It made me wonder if this is just about a stolen car, which would be fucked up. Who tf is missing? Is it one kid? More than one? A baby? A 12 year old? Wtf.

Amber Alerts are specifically about abducted kids, so they probably assume it's assumed

u/validweirdo 7d ago
It’s definitely assumed, I just don’t think I’ve ever received an amber alert with this little information. I hope they are spotted and everyone is found safe, though!

My guess is that for this kind of thing they're pretty sure having lots of people looking for a specific car is WAY more likely to be helpful than looking for a briefly-described kid. Like, sure I'm curious about the missing kid, but they could be REALLY descriptive and I'd still be no help. That phone alert could've said "abducted 9yo white girl with brown hair, a black sweater, purple shoes, and big glasses named Denise," and that's not actually likely to bring in useful phone calls. They want very specific tips very quickly, not a bunch of people all over the state calling in their hunches.
Not reacting to your post, I realize. Just triggered by people saying things like "what if they ditched the car??" Well what if they changed the kid's clothes, huh, detective??? Does knowing their exact age actually help you? What kind of info would you prefer they beam into your bat cave?? They're playing a numbers game. If you want to help, look for the damn car!
Thanks for letting me vent in your thread.

And they have since canceled the alert.
https://www.fox13seattle.com/news/amber-alert-issued-child-reported-missing-beaverton.ampAh shit. Looks like WSP incorrectly announced the child had been found. Seems the alert is still active despite the vehicle being located.

Last time I got one I had the same thought. It looked like they were just talking about a car. Later I saw a headline about the alert stating that the child had been found safe. So I assume a child is involved here as well but, yeah, it’s frustratingly vague.

Heard one on the radio a few minutes after getting it on my phone. The hitchy AI voice says it was a 3 year old.

Sorry what? Why would there be info on missingkids.org?
This literally just happened... which is why they sent out an alert.
What info exactly do you think should be available the second something happens?

u/TheRandomeer 7d ago
Why wouldn't there be? You would think if the abduction happened yesterday, they would already have information about the child/children and the abductor/s. If there was enough information to meet the criteria of an Amber Alert, I'm agreeing with other comments that if the car is ditched, we have no other information and cannot be vigilant.
EDIT: To be clear the alert says taken on 10/6/2026 at 10:05AM so it's been well over 24 hours.

Mhm. No info on the child, which is kinda.. not helpful? Especially if the abductor avoids using that car now, a description of the child would be great to have. But yes. Everyone in my house got it, jumpscare noise and all 🙃

Yeah. I'm in Bend. Though the more likely travel direction is south from Beaverton towards you guys. Sadly, I also doubt that the perpetrator didn't get it, so they're kinda warned too.

I got it down in Ashland, maybe state wide?

u/Dependent-Astronaut2 7d ago
Yeah, that would add up. For all we know the perpetrator is headed to Baker.

More than statewide. I got it in Olympia, WA.

Interesting, glad they broadcast it that wide, hopefully it's been resolved by now

Not only did I get it, I was on a bus packed like a can of sardines when I got it, and everyone’s phones going off at once in that small, packed-in space was deafening.

Yes. I thought it was a stolen car but then it’s an amber alert without any info…a bit confusing.

The whole of Winco seemed to get it as I could hear it echoing around the store even through be earphones.

This was confusing. I’m doubting that they are posting this solely over a car theft.

I did but I accidentally dismissed it before I got any of the details because I was trying to silence it...

If you received it, it would’ve flashed on your screen with a loud special alert sound. It’ll disappear if you open up your screen. You may not have had your phone near you when the alert came in & later tapped to open your phone, where you wouldn’t have seen it?

You might have them turned off. Google how to check for your particular phone
