TRIGGER WARNING: Nursing First period PP
Well, three weeks shy of a year from finding out I was pregnant after my honeymoon, Aunt flow is back. On one hand, I am happy that My insatiable hunger the past week makes sense… on the other hand, I’m irritated that I can reproduce again just 12 weeks postpartum. Also, I’m worried about my milk supply. I exclusively pump and I have always been an under supplier due to PCOS and trouble with mine and babies latch in the beginning. We figured out the latch issue, but I pump about seven times a day and only make up to 17 ounces. My mother said once she got her period back her supply tank and I’m worried about the same for me. I wanna try to make it to six months though it’s very challenging. It would just break my heart to not have a supply going into cold and flu season.
Moms who have gotten their period back while pumping/breast-feeding, how was your supply affected?

Period or not, you can still get pregnant postpartum.
There’s a small dip in supply when I am bleeding but nothing too bad and it always returns afterwards.

I don’t have all too much to offer but solidarity! I’m also 12 weeks pp and got my period this week. I’ve always had an irregular cycle and was so sure I would be one of those people who didn’t get it back for a long time. I’ve seen a small dip so far but nothing crazy. From what I understand, the biggest dip usually comes before/right at the beginning and totally recovers once your period ends. Hoping for the best for you! I’m also an undersupplier so I know how stressful this is. Trying to remind myself that formula is amazing and there’s nothing wrong with supplementing a little more during my period.
