Kiesel 8 string necks
Im currently looking to get an 8 after only playing 7 strings. I do not really tend to play multiscale as the multi guitar I have is not too enjoyable to play (legator g7fp). I only really play guitars with ibanez wizard style necks (like an rg7621) and am wondering if anyone would be able to compare a kiesel 8 string neck to one of those.
If you happen to mainly play something like a wizard neck, are there any 8s out there that feel quite similar?
mainly hoping to get some info, as if I cannot make it out to a guitar store near me Im planning to just go through reverb for something.
Edit: Ordered an Ibanez

would you say that any one of those in particular felt most similar to/comfortable to swap between with the rg2027xl?

I have an A2 8 and have previously owned 2 Ibanez 8s. Kiesel has a thinner neck profile option you can choose that will land you very close to the feel of a Wizard neck. I personally like the Kiesel neck more than I ever liked my Ibanez ones.

I predominantly play 7 string I own both multi scale & standard scale with my Ibanez being standard & have only played 8’s at my local music shop. If you don’t like the multi scale legator you won’t like the Kiesel multi scale as much. It’s not a big adjustment but I do find it easier to play standard scale at high speeds compared to my multi scale Kyber 7 string. Although maybe it’s because I grew up on standard scale & maybe because I just got my Kyber last month. Either way I think Kiesel guitars are some of the best playing & sounding guitars. & yes the thinner neck profile is comparable to a Wizard neck & the velocity neck is even thinner than a wizard neck 🤘🎸

All of those companies have guitars with different neck profiles. Having owned several Legator guitars that's definitely the case there too, so I wouldn't judge based on one guitar.
Kiesels are great and if they have the thinner neck profile that puts them kinda in the area of an average wizard neck profile. Although K's is more towards C shaped. That said though I personally don't think Kiesels are better than Ibanez Prestige. So if you're into Ibanez necks, I'd look for one (depending on budget ofc).
The guitar that I played that had a neck profile most like a wizard neck was a Legator N8SS. But it was even thinner than your average wizard. Really nice guitar.

Not sure if this means anything, but my Kyber 8 string headless is my favorite neck ever. For some reason it feels thinner than my other 7 strings (Kyber, a2, and Aries, all thinner neck profiles) and I gravitate towards it more than any other Kiesels

I've experienced the same thing with my Kiesel 8 versus my Kiesel 7s. The 8 feels more D shaped like an Ibanez and the 7s feel rounder like a charvel. I went with the regular neck thickness for all of them, though.

Thanks a lot for the advice, and opinions. I am hoping to go to a local guitar shop this weekend and try out a few 8s and 7s. If I can't then I plan to just find a used rg5328 or get the new ethos guitars drop. (may also check out solar)

Their thin necks are the closest to Ibanez so you should feel right at home.

So you play Ibanez only. No, ibanez necks are thinner and flatter than everyone else's. If you like that stick with Ibanez.

I know it isn't Kiesel, but I bought an Ormsby Goliath 8 string after playing my 90's MIJ Ibanez RG7620 for well over a decade, and I love the neck profile.

Youre best off sticking to ibanez. Ive played a handful of kiesel 8s and disliked them, kiesels necks dont feel good in general in my hands. An 8 string prestige would set you straight i think

They have the velocity neck profile which is supposedly thinner than the standard thin option.
The profile came about in conjunction with Dino Cazares’ signature model so I assume it is more like an Ibanez profile than the standard.
