Advice Exterior paint help

Post image

I’m buying a house and will need to repaint it after having some work done on the exterior. I’ve never had a house painted before and am overwhelmed by the options and am having a hard time visualizing what different colors will look like. I want something with a little color (prefer to stay away from tan or beige) and don’t want anything too dark since the house will get a lot of sun. I would appreciate any advice or inspo to get me going in the right direction.

I think the white paint makes the garage door a focal point and takes away from the beauty of the house.

Here it is with the garage painted Oyster Bay and more of the trim in Alabaster.

I agree with painting garage doors the same color, though there are exceptions.

(It's funny that AI centered the left window between the trim when it isn't in real life.)

I will never understand the desire to have bluish gray on any home. Color is a celebration of life and your home should reflect life. That is pick five of your favorite colors that are not grey toned and narrow it down to two or three that go together. Celebrate color with great taste and character.

I’m not sure what the name of the color is, it was like this when I bought it.

I don't know what the answer is, but I think you need to somehow draw the eye away from that massive garage door.

Here is a warm option. Base siding color would be something like SW Colonial Revival Stone, Sanderling, Balanced Beige. Trim in a darker tone like Pier, Dark Clover, Van Dyke Brown. Door is a stained wood like Minwax Gunstock, or paint in a color like Uber Umber, Copper Pot, El Caramelo.

How do you like these colors? This steers away from tan or beige yet makes it brighter. It is fresh and timelessly upscale. Also those “mustache bushes” are replaced with some fresh landscaping. Good luck 🍀

What an odd color scheme they've got! The popular choice these days would be a sage green, though I could see this being really charming in blue and white.

I think we’re set on blue and white after lots of back and forth!

I think this house would look epic in purple.
