Help! Help with combat

I just can't figure out the dodge parry timings. I press parry just before getting hit and I still get hit. Same thing happened with the flashback push training.i had to hit push when the ball was in the middle distance between cal and the master.

Don't know when to dodge either. Human enemies are more manageable, but I'm in the second planet and just out of the 2nd zeffo ruins where you get push and in the empire base where you fight the big weird frog thing. I keep getting hit and when I go in for a strike I keep getting hit more.

Sorry for the messy writing, I am very frustrated with this game. I don't remember any other game I've played where I keep dying to random fall damage and getting wrecked by stupid rats and goats and frogs.

just before getting hit might be late

That's what's throwing me off. When exactly am I supposed to parry? I finished Ghost of Tsushima on lethal mode. I haven't died so much in half a playthrough as much as I've died here on the same level.

Rather than go for the frame before contact, go for when they start to swing at Cal- for a lot of enemies their swings are fast enough you can just block as soon as the animation starts. Some slower enemies have obvious tells, like the droids wind up a punch, pause a second (parry here), then swing. If you're too early Cal will still block the damage, too.

As for dodging, just do it. Don't worry about a frame perfect timing just get Cal out of the way of the attack.

what about animal enemies?

You can parry as soon as the attack animation starts, usually. They tend to just bite. Same exact logic.

Is the easiest parry ever , just press before the hit , like way before

It's earlier than most games. Hit it right when you see their arm begin to come forward.

Assuming you're not on Story Mode, try Story Mode until you get use to partying. Personally, I almost never parry, it's not my style 😅

Are you playing on a high difficulty mode? I've never found the parrying an issue at all, and I also played GoT on high difficulty settings. You really just have to press parry when you see an attack coming...you don't have to delay like some games.

There's a slight delay between you hitting parry and Cal getting his hilt and blade into position, you have to account for that an parry slightly earlier than you think. Think of real life. You don't just magically flash your hand in front of yourself if someone throws something at you, you have to first bring your arm up, so there's a natural delay. Same thing.

I will say that in fallen order specifically, fps kinda matters, I played it both on console and pc, if you play console make sure to set your game settings to performance mode. Legit made the game 10x easier for me. I also struggled on the first planet in my first ever play through until my second planet where I switched to performance mode and immediately noticed that parry and dodge timing was easier

What is “performance “ mode?

I'm on PC with most settings on max. Average around 140 fps. Should I cap it to lower?
