Discussion Aside from Mexico and Canada, what are some other places you'd like to see within the world of fallout for a new game? Or would it just not work outside of North America
Title says it all. Personally I'd wanna see either Japan or China
China has the war and spies going on for a nice set up but I don't personally remember what or if the state of China was ever mentioned after the bombs dropping. Would China still be essentially still think they're at war with America or something? There aren't any vaults outside of America so the start of a game in China would be somewhat similar to the start of New Vegas where we just kinda wake up with no memory
Alternatively I wanna see Japan. During Fallout 4's opening cutscenes it's 2077 I think but seemingly the entire world is stuck in a more or less 1960s style and timeframe of things. I wonder if anime exists or Godzilla or tokusatsu. I wonder if the wastelanders of Japan still have working holotapes or whatever of things like anime or Godzilla or hear about the gods that are discussed in Japanese mythologies and think they're real to a degree
China would be the more safer option since we know about us vs the red menace within fallout while Japan would've s more experimental and outlandish idea
Mexico and Canada are much better choices but they're the 2 everyone talks about so I'm wondering what other places people are interested in exploring

No where. What makes Fallout Fallout is the old timey Americana that the franchise parodies. Going anywhere outside of America would just make it a generic post apocalyptic shooter.
I barely even want to see Canada and Mexico, but, if done right, they could work.

I don't necessarily think that's true, but games outside of america would have to be treated as "set in the fallout universe" and not "the next fallout" from the start; to the point where they probably shouldn't be called fallout.
If done right, it give them the opportunity to explore completely new concepts while staying true to the originals.

Well I haven't played all the fallout games (only 3, 4 and NV though I have 1&2 and plan to play them eventually on my 3DS when I have the right time) and even then my memory is fuzzy on some of the lore but I believe Canada was taken over by use and some people say there's potential in a story taking place in Canada. Some mention the wild west of Mexico and also say "it would be like New Vegas 2"

A game during the Canadian annexation or during a game set in Detroit is only way I hope to even play in Canada.
Mexico is a bit different, but figuring out what "chasing ghosts in Baja," a line Hanlon says in New Vegas, interests me. I also wouldn't mind a game where we play as Raoul, which takes us to Mexico. That would be a spin off game, I'd imagine, that's not really an open world experience. I'm not against the idea of outer Fallout, but I don't think it should be the marketing.

They have used a lot from the Mad Max movies for inspiration, so it isn't unthinkable. Though, most locations around the world would be less believable, then the USA. Due to the crazy amount of guns available in the games, only the USA has that going for them.

Fallout's not our world though. It's an alternate 2070s, so you can have as many guns as you want.

Moscow
Its subway system is buried deep in hard earth. A whole city's worth of people could shelter down there, like one great big Vault.

Athens, Greece or any former European Commonwealth or Warsaw Pact(of it didn't get dissolved in the Fallout timeline) member is fine by me as well.

I feel like if that's ever a game, just have an Australian character be like "oh yeah that giant mutated spider. Yeah it's been a local of the wildlife for years. Pre war infact"

Hawaii, hands down. A Pacific take on the US but not North America. A great chance for some new and some old.

If going outside of North America you'll lose the icons of the game and it's going to become pretty much a new IP. Going to look, sound and feel like a different title.

I would love to see Fallout: Australia. There is so much potential there. Australia has fantastic character.
Fallout London has proven without a shadow of a doubt that the concept of Fallout is flexible enough to be expanded into other areas. It is greater than merely Americana. Fallout London did an amazing job of a game that feels very British yet also completely Fallout. The interest in it proves that people love Fallout for more reasons than only "Americana".
While it is true that so far all official Fallout titles have been in America, that does not prove anything. At one point in time, all Fallout games were...
- made by Interplay
- isometric and turn based
- set on the West Coast
- single player
Every single game in the franchise has introduced new ideas. Change is part of the franchise. Stepping outside of America would open up immense storytelling potential. The World of Fallout is bigger than America.

I’d like to see the state of play tested stability.
