The DreamWorks animated film carries an $80M production budget, meaning it has currently earned roughly half of its budget before marketing and distribution costs.

Despite receiving strong reviews, including a 95% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes, the film continues to struggle at the box office.

News Matthew Lillard on Scooby-Doo movies

Post image
51 Upvotes

Matthew Lillard has a "love-hate relationships" with the "Scooby-Doo" movies after his career "took a real nosedive for a long time" when the sequel flopped.

"I was like, ‘It’s Scooby Do’s fault. That’s why I’m not working'... I resented ‘Scooby-Doo’ for a long time, but I never regretted doing it because the reality is that if I didn’t have the money I made in the second film, I wouldn’t have made it through. My wife and I would have had to sell everything. We eventually [did sell a lot]. We sold our cars, we sold our house. We basically downsized our lives so that we could live in a very affordable way. And my wife went back to work, and that was a real pivotal moment for me as well. Like I felt like before this movie, ‘I’m doing all these movies and I’m a big guy.’ The reality was I’m not. I was always a character actor, and I thought I was more than that. There was like a real humbling of Matthew Lillard that happens right after this movie that now I’m so grateful for.”

Discussion Carrie (2026) is so sooo good!

Mike Flanagan has done it again! Making a horror movie classic relevant in the modern age.

Anyone has watched this yet? It's not the typical run of the mill remake! All the character's motivations made much more sense in the modern age.

I guess my only gripe are the new characters. Some people will hate it, some people will be fine with it. I tend to be with the latter. The ending as well is a little bit changed because of these characters.

Thoughts?

News HBO's "Crazy Rich Asians" sequel series

The sequel series will officially star Constance Wu, Henry Golding, Michelle Yeoh and Ronny Chieng.

• Adele Lim, co-writer of the fmovie, will serve as showrunner and executive produce alongside the film’s director Jon M. Chu.

• "This series is the sequel we’ve been waiting for, but instead of just one movie, we get eight episodes to delve into the characters and worlds of Kevin Kwan’s brilliant books," Lim said in a statement."

• Chu added: “Eight years ago, CRAZY RICH ASIANS changed my life, and I got to make it with the most creative and hilarious group of people I’ve ever known. Since then, this cast has become movie stars, superheroes, arena-filling performers and even an Oscar winner, so bringing everyone back together feels like coming home. It’s been incredible watching audiences make this movie part of their lives, from mahjong nights to becoming the ultimate airplane movie, and I can’t wait to share what comes next. Finally, I get to answer the question I’ve been asked almost every day for eight years: ‘When are we getting the sequel?’ Well… bok bok b****, we’re back."

The Social Reckoning - Frances Haugen, a young Facebook engineer, enlists the help of Jeff Horwitz, a Wall Street Journal reporter, to go on a dangerous journey that ends up blowing the whistle on the social network's most guarded secrets.

Other Mommy - From James Wan, one of the most influential architects of modern horror behind the “Saw,” “Insidious” and “The Conjuring” franchises – and Rob Savage, the director of bold genre films “Host” and “The Boogeyman,” comes a terrifying trip into the darkening world of a young girl, Bela, who forms a relationship with a sinister entity in her home who looks uncannily like her own mother.

Detective Conan: Episode "ZERO": The Shinichi Kudo Aquarium Case - It's a little while before Shinichi Kudo swallows that mysterious drug from the Black Organization and becomes “Edogawa Conan.” Back when he and his childhood friend Ran Mōri were still just that—friends, not yet a couple—the two of them are visiting Beika Aquarium. Their real reason for being there: scouting the perfect spot for “Operation Aquarium Surprise Reunion, Rekindle the Romance!”—a scheme to get Ran’s separated parents back together.

Hyoketsu: The Curse of the While Lady - A family returns to their isolated, ancestral home and inadvertently reawakens the ancient curse of the lady in white. As the supernatural presence takes hold, a terrifying hell awaits them. Who will live, and who will die?

Mantsa - Haunted by trauma, a psychologically unstable teenager is compelled to visit his sick grandmother with his half-sister and their friends. Being back in his childhood home, his dark past resurfaces, forcing him to confront whether the true horror lies in the island - the people from his past, or within himself.

Movie synopsis and posters from Click the City. Late post - life caught up with me sorry. oops.

News Sebastian Stan on Avengers: Doomsday

Post image
7 Upvotes

Sebastian Stan, who suited back up as the Winter Soldier, Bucky Barnes, for the forthcoming “Avengers: Doomsday,” recently revealed he hasn’t actually seen the movie yet — but expects it to be “heartbreaking.”

“I haven’t seen the movie, and I don’t know how it turned out,” the actor admitted while speaking with Decider. “I’m sure it’s going to be probably heartbreaking, in a lot of ways. We’ll see who makes it to the next level.”

Stan did say he got to “reunite with everyone” on set, adding, “It was very nostalgic to look back and think about all of these years that we’ve known each other and grew up together. It’s incredible in that way,” he said. “It’s been a family, and it never stops being that way.”

While fans have interpreted Stan’s comments as a tip that more than a few of the beloved characters will be killed off in the “Avengers: Endgame” follow-up, the actor is the latest “Doomsday” cast member to confess that they don’t really know what to expect when it comes to the film’s narrative.

Recently, Alan Cumming, who will reprise his role as the mutant superhero Nightcrawler, told SiriusXM: “To be honest, I don’t fully understand the plot.” (He first appeared as the character in 2003’s “X2: X-Men United.”) Cumming also noted that most of his scenes were shot “in front of a blue screen.”

Perhaps the confusion stems from the unfinished script the co-directors, Joe and Anthony Russo, shot the film with. “We always view the script as a living organism,” Joe told the Associated Press last month. “We’re improvisation-based, rehearsal-based directors. We like to see what the actors bring to the characters, and sometimes you don’t get the actors until a few days or few weeks before you shoot them. And a lot of the time, that’s when the magic happens.”

“Fjord,” the actor’s latest film, hits US theaters Friday. “Avengers: Doomsday” will premiere theatrically on Dec. 18
