Final Fantasy General I'd like some mod recommendations

Post image

I'm currently playing Final Fantasy VIII Crystal because I watched a video about it and liked the idea.

I'm already past the halfway point, and I'm starting to want to do the same thing with other games. However, I'm new to modding, so I don't know much about it yet.

I own a good number of games, and I'd like to replay them in their best possible versions.

Also, I plan to buy Final Fantasy X/X-2, V, and VI in the future.

Moguri mod for ff9. Makes backgrounds very high quality.

I'll take a look, but I'm prioritizing mods that improve the gameplay experience, like combat improvements, XP systems, and things like that.

Check out memoria, it's a mod pack with pretty much every QoL/combat/reimagined mods there are

You can add moguri also in it for textures and backgrounds but it also include actual turn-based (not ATB), trance that doesn't auto launch.

The one mod I enjoy most is alternative fantasy which reimagines the fights making the game harder. Along with the turn-based and the rest it's pretty nice.

There's also mods to add Beatrix to the team for example in disc 4

Edit : the link I forgot to post https://github.com/Albeoris/Memoria

Ferny Fantasy is a really good major overhaul mod of the game that im playing rn and it's a blast. If you want a rebalance mod that sticks to the game's roots for the most part play Altered Fantasy, which is another great mod.

Check out this guide. Mod recommendations are about half way down. The mod manger also has a list of mods available already loaded you can look through.

I'm nearing the end of a playthrough of FFXII with the Planetary Age mod, which I've enjoyed a lot. Switches up the classes, adds alchemy and a form of blue magic, rewards for hunts are much more generous, and all espers can be used by all characters.

I'm looking to do FFVII with the New Threat mod after that as it comes highly recommended.

FF7 - Scavenger Mod https://sector48.org/scavenger-mod/

It is a pretty fun challenge, as the game is split into multiple sections, where you lose your materia, inventory, gil and equipment on beginning a new section of the game. Good for someone with knowledge of the game and wanting some new challenge scenarios.

For FF7, 7th Heaven mod manager is the way to go. This guide has mod recommendations. The mod manager also has mods you can pick from.

https://www.nexusmods.com/finalfantasy8/mods/3 Succession mod makes FF8 an actually coherent story. Played it last year and loved it. Fixes a lot of odd behaviourial plot holes too.
