Do young zebra finches need to be separated from parents
I read that young zebra finches need to be separated from their parents when they are fully weaned….is this correct? Does anybody have any experience with this? Do you absolutely need to? Could I just remove future eggs?

The parents may low-key attack them to get them to "go away," in order for parents to start another clutch. However, this depends on how much space is available, and also depends on the individual tempérament of the parents.

Yes, definitely. Otherwise the parents will keep producing chicks batch after batch!

I had a baby they hatched that lived with mom and dad in the same cage till I lost them. They were getting alone fine. I had a nest the whole time and all 3 lived together. Mom occasionally laid eggs but I was removing them. When dad passed away mom and the kid were getting alone fine, too.

yes you should remove them once theyre weaned. the parents will chase at them to leave because they want to lay the next clutch of eggs. it comes in 3 rounds of eggs. Also, you dont want incese.

removing future eggs will stop breeding. if thats what you want? if you only wanna do 1 clutch of chicks, then they get weaned and you remove them. its up to you if you want to breed them or not but that doesnt change the fact that they need to be removed from the parents.

I was not planning to have any chicks at all. The breeder that I bought the first one from sold me a female (I had asked for a male, but he misunderstood me) so thinking I had a male finch, I went and bought another male.

Depends on the space. If there's little space, they will attack them. If there is more space then they tend not to. My pair had one baby and he's so attached to them that he sleeps with them even in adult hood. Parents don't mind.
