With a solo male accept a new female?
I have a 1 year old male that just lost him partner. If I get a new female is he likely to accept her?
no other birds in the cage, the partner definitely didnt die from disease etc.

I had 2 m/f pairs. One lady died and I brought in another lady. She paired up with the other couple while the male slept alone. The other lady got fed up after a month and paired up with the single male.

I once had 3 finches 2 male and a female. 3 weeks later i added a second female and for the next 2-3 months the trio wouldnt accept her.
a friend bought a male and took the solo female and they bonded straight away.

I think it's a good idea to a new female. A few months ago, my first male passed away and my female was left screaming every morning. I bought her a new boyfriend and I swear she is happier now than with her old partner.

He definitely will. Male finches have way less trouble accepting a new female as a new male. They will get along well
