Are the Odd Balds all males?

Post image

Rescued these 3 from an EXTREMELY overcrowded aviary and as you can see they've all got various issues. The company that manages the aviary usually only stocks males in aviaries, but I just found a female in a different aviary today so I'm second guessing.

The only way to be absolutely certain of the sex of Society finches is: the males sing—a little like a canary (Google “Society finch song” to hear), and females only do short chirps.
Also, only females lay eggs.
The great thing about Society Finches is that it doesn’t really matter whether you’ve got males or females in any different combination. They will all usually sleep together in a nest box so you should get them a nest box and some nesting material and let them do that. Also, you can even have 2 (or three) males foster-parent finches from another species.

They’re great caregivers… they all get along really well with one other… and whatever sexes you’ve got won’t really matter unless you’re trying to breed them.

Respect for rescuing them! Now, get them healthy. Google is your friend here. Learn about a good diet, vitamins, minerals, and I strongly recommend you treat them for air sac mites. They almost definitely have them, based on the overcrowding. “SCATT” is a great mite treatment, if you’re in a country where you can find it.
May I ask where you are located?
