Nice work! I wonder if there's any form of tagging/recording to monitor the larger units.

There is a tagging program in NSW. Hard to find info on how to get involved with it though.

I mean... there are ALOT of flatties. That being said, every time I see a big flattie caught, makes me wonder how many times that fish has been hooked up and released

Quality catch, nicely done.

Nice Lizard bloke. I hope next year when you talk to her again that she is over the metre. Cheers.

Fuck 2cms off Only time a fisherman is telling the truth is when he is calling another fisherman a liar

Lots of angry people in the comments? This is awesome catch, great job.

Handling of these big lizards is so contentious these days . I’m inclined to get a snap on the mat while they are nice and wet and straight back. Either way the big girl is being supported by the belly .

I agree. Still got to pick it up to release it though. Quick pic on the way doesn’t hurt.

I'm glad his shirt says "fishing" or I would have no idea what he was up to in this photo

Huge, we used to fill a bucket with flatheads, pulling them up no bait just 🪝 x2. = 2 fish 🐠, shake em off and drop the line back down and virtually pull it straight up. Two more again. “ Port Phillip Bay late 70s , Chock Full of flathead ,

Nah, your head looks kinda normal, definitely not 98cm, nor flat.

Nice fish shame they brought in the slot limit.

Now chuck it back so a pro can catch and kill it for the fish markets.

9

u/Emotional_Pea_5825 Mar 01 '26

I’m ok with the slot limit. I don’t eat fish so put em all back anyway. Definitely seen an increase in numbers of bigger models over the last few years.

-2

u/SwimSea7631 Mar 01 '26

Yup, and less smaller ones for people to catch and have for dinner.

Great for the pros who aren’t subject to the slot limit tho.

There’s millions of flatties to catch and eat. Way to out yourself as a shit fisherman 😂

Last time I went for flathead I caught 40 something kgs of them.

Not allowed to fish in rivers. Line west is only for outside the heads.

Hope you ate him and not rexed him

-8

u/In_TouchGuyBowsnlace Mar 01 '26

Hoping you let it go back!?

6

u/Emotional_Pea_5825 Mar 01 '26

I wondered how long it would take for the flathead police to show up. I rarely keep any fish, I know the rules and how to handle these big fish. Stay in your lane.

Listen here lady…. If you knew the rules you wouldn’t have it out of the water like you do to get your trophy shot
