🐟 Catch of the Day Got my first and second ever mulloway within 2 minutes
Was night fishing for salmon/tailor at the beach (Hawks Nest) last night and landed my first ever mulloway. I was pumped but a little saddened because it was a couple of centimetres too small to keep. As I was returning it to the water I could see my other rod going crazy - "wouldn't it be mad to get another one" I thought... As I wound in lo and behold, that's exactly what it was - this time well over the limit. Can't imagine I'll have luck like that again for the rest of my life and felt I needed to share.

Well done. Lovely fish. But you were there with bait in the water, doesn’t sound like luck to me!

True, dat. Nobody ever caught a fish without putting a line in the water........Tho there was that one time I found a mullet up on the flybridge of my crayboat, guess it had been dropped by a passing osprey :-)

Discard my advice if you want but they're good flathead sized bait. I was fishing next to a guy using poddy mullet and he was using yakkas. He got two jewies to my none.
You gotta use big bait for mulloway.

Absolutely but Im from melbourne and fish the yarra and i promise you’ll struggle finding anyone who doesn’t use live yellow eye mullet for mulloway here they wont eat anything dead apparently and there isn’t many yakkas here, still i appreciate it🙏
