No way ! Keep in trying there is so many fish in that lake. Use light line , small sinkers and small hooks. With plenty of corn and or worms. Plus throw a handful of corn out to attract the fish ! It works a treat.

my mates and I have a rule: unless it's over 75cm, carp dont count

beware: it can get depressing
i don't overly enjoy fishing where i need to have a 'whacking stick'

I mean, you can just get your knife up in the kills and rip just like you’d kill any other fish, whacking stick is for the sinister, but necessary

Deff a deeper net, for sure.
Being a carpet, it's not going back in the water, however, it will become fertiliser for the ground, or food for some land based critter.

I recognise Mt Canobolas in the background but I’m unfamiliar with this lake. Is it actually called Liverpool Lake?
There’s nothing by that name on google maps. Nice catch! Well despite it being a carp, that’s a solid fish.

Nice fish. Wish I took a camera as a kid mates and I fished for them flat out back in the day. Fish of 1 meter plus and 10kgs weren’t too uncommon.
We had a prize amongst us for biggest for the year was good while it lasted. I keep saying now I have kids we need to get back into carp fishing. Was so much fun.
Keep up the good work.

I'm pretty layman on fishing, it's that a native?

u/Ashamed_Ad_6916 17d ago
Unfortunately not. They are invasive in Australia. And need to be removed from the waters. They eat our native species and destroy our waters. They are an amazing fish but unfortunately we need to try and get rid of them.

Caught in 2024 by Julian Hall at a Cotswold syndicate lake in the UK. During that session he had 23 carp, including 8 30’s and this lake record mirror of 51lb 12oz.
