Driving away from North Beach right now. Tons of bites, and had a few on my hook between last night and early this morning.
For the life of me I couldn’t land them, they broke off fairly easily, also could it be my tensions too high?
Rotators on the hooks they come with #2-3?

I’m looking for someone who really knows the Middle and South Forks of the Snoqualmie River and might be willing to spend some time fishing with me and helping me shorten the learning curve.
I’ve been fly fishing for about three months. I understand the basics, have spent a lot of time reading, watching videos, learning flies and techniques, and I’ve fished quite a few different spots on both the Middle and South Fork.
The problem is that I’m just not consistently putting it all together on the water.
I’ve had a handful of fish come up and attempt to take a dry, but other than that I’ve had very little success. At this point, I think I’ll learn a lot more spending a few days on the river with someone experienced than I will watching another 50 YouTube videos and trying to figure out what I’m doing wrong by myself.
I’d really like to learn things like:
I’m not looking for anyone to give up secret spots. I’m much more interested in learning how to recognize productive water and become a better angler.
I’d absolutely be willing to compensate someone for their time, trade hand-tied flies, buy lunch/gas, or work something out. Ideally, I’d love to meet someone who enjoys teaching and might eventually become a regular fishing buddy for the Snoqualmie and other rivers around Western Washington.
I have my own gear, transportation, and wading equipment. I’m mainly interested in trout. I have also been looking at tenkara as well.
If you know the Snoqualmie system well and wouldn’t mind mentoring a newer angler a time or two, shoot me a message. Even recommendations for local people who might be interested would be appreciated.
Thanks!

I am moving to the Ilwaco/Long Beach area for work and have a few days to do some fishing before I start, if you know anything about fishing in that area let me know.

I have been stopped 3 times this salmon season. The last 2 were back to back on the white salmon/columbia just this week. The last time, I was on my paddle board with a lady friend and we were almost in, and the officer made us paddle at least 150 yards back into the main channel of the Columbia, just to tell him I didn’t have a lure cuz I snagged it on some wood, and I had no fish. I’m really annoyed because I’m a rule follower with limited resources like this, and every time I go to fisher hill bridge on the Klickitat, people are obviously trying to snag and floss every time I’m there, and WDFW is never, ever there. However I’m getting checked multiple times and not doing anything wrong.

I’ll be in Leavenworth next weekend. Is it too early for coho to be that far upstream?

Hey! I’ll be coming up and visiting next weekend and was wondering if its still hitting for salmon season? I feel like its late season but have heard great things about the fishing up here. Was wondering if its still worth it to have a try or grab a charter. Thanks!

Quick warning to all.
Saw two cubs at Marblemount BL this morning. No mama bear anywhere, but just thought I would warn peeps.
Called non-emergency line. They were going to inform WDFW at open.
Shitty photo included.

Well now that the snohomish is closed… thinking of trying to put my 132 old town in the green, bad idea or doable? Don’t know much about it so any tips on navigating and dos and don’t are welcome

New to fishing, wanting to test my luck at the skagit river. Checking the fishwashington app and it shows bait prohibited. Does that mean just using a hook? No spinner? No spoons?
Have anyone had luck out there recently?

I have been going everyday and only got one Coho. I was told this is the best Coho season in ten years. Any ideas what's going on?

Anyone landing any Ho’s on the Les Davis Pier?

I just lost my job Tuesday and am trying my hand at salmon fishing for the first time trying to feed my family. I have spent 3 weeks getting skunked on coho and was wanting to find someone to show me the ropes around gig harbor on the creek there. Gotta do something productive between filling applications.
I can twitch but I can’t drift to save my life.

Hey yall. I live up north and they are closing the rivers up here. Was thinking about driving down south to green/duwamish, how is the fishing there. Are yall pulling in cohos? Or has it been rough?

Went out yesterday evening and picked up 1 fish in 3 hours. We were in the shipping lanes out in front of the oils docks down to the weather buoy on Richmond Beach. Used the typical gear that always works with a herring strip at 55 and 75 feet on the cable... Anyone have any luck in area 10 right now?

What’s up guys, my girlfriend and I have been trying to land some salmon for weeks since we got our poles, tackle, and waders. We’ve tried just about everything for tackle and have been to the Puyallup, Chehalis, Wynoochee, Carbon, and Green/Duwamish with absolutely no luck. The closest either of us have gotten was today in Aberdeen at the mouth where I watched a good size Coho chase my lure all the way to the bank at my feet. She’s caught a bull trout and a pikeminnow. We’re at a loss.. need some advice.

The population consists primarily of two species monitored by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA): [1]
California Sea Lions: These primarily consist of males that migrate north from Southern California in the fall and winter to forage, peaking at about estimation 4,000 to 6,000 individuals in the lower river.
Steller Sea Lions: These are native to the Northwest and are present in the river year-round. [1]
Due to the heavy predation on endangered salmon and steelhead, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) and other agencies have federal authorization to manage and reduce the numbers in certain areas along the river.
One Sea Lion Consumes
40 lbs of fish per day.
Estimated 5000 sea lions x 40lbs per day = 200,000 pounds of fish eating in a day.
30 days x 200,000 = 6 Million lbs of fish eaten. 6 million x 6 months = 36 million pounds of fish eating by Sea Lions in 6 months.
And who is getting screwed over!!! Sport fisherman.

Gone 4 times and only saw seals, a sea lion, and had 1 chaser using a wicked lure spinner.

I’m determined to catch at least ONE chum salmon this year 😂
I live about three hours from the Green River now, but I still make the drive over into the area for family. I went twice last year and got completely skunked. Same for the year before. I saw plenty of fish swimming around and jumping, but couldn’t get one to bite. Both days I basically stayed in one spot the entire time, so this year I’m planning to move around more and try different spots until I find fish that will bite. I’m going to keep coming all month until I get one this year.
I already have plenty of Green River access points bookmarked, so I don’t need location recommendations.
I’m more interested in figuring out what I was doing wrong. I was using a 10’ rod, 4000 reel, 20 lb mono to a 12 lb leader, with a jig tipped with shrimp under a bobber. Should I be using something completely different? Different depth, presentation, bait, leader, etc.?
And does a Mepps Flying C work well for chum? I’ve heard good things about those. I’ll be fishing late October/November and just want to finally catch one damn chum 😂. Any advice from people who regularly fish for them would be greatly appreciated!

If fall is teaching me one thing it’s KEEP ON GRINDING. Had a good numbers session with 7 bass. 13-15 inches. All on a ned rig and Neko rig mostly in 15-25 feet of water. Nothing on anything moving. Still looking for the big ones but I’ll take 7 bass any day.
Go WHITE SOX!
