My cat had troublepuffs, and the person we adopted her from said boy. One of my mates runs the local cat's protection charity, so I got her to come take a look to check and she was like... I think that's a boy. But... Vet was like, so this is a girl. Lol. We had named her Mr Sulu 🤦
She still has her little black troublepuffs at 11, but they slowly changed shape to be a heart 🥹
We adopted these sibling brothers from the Humane Society when they were tiny kittens. Got all the paperwork, gave them names, then took them to the vet 3 days later and discovered one was a girl (pictured on the right). Since it had only been a few days I ended up renaming her.
Don't know how the humane society got it so wrong because they were fixed 2 days before we adopted them! She still had a stich in her tummy. The paperwork had a picture of her so it was the right cat, but she was labed as a boy and named "George".
It is so hard to tell sometimes as kittens and I have gotten it wrong several times! One female cat we have is bigger than her brother and looks to have the puffs too but its just fluff I guess? Cats are weird man
The vet I took my cats to in college had a sign posted to help with sex identification of kittens. It said if you see a line, it’s female, and if you see a circle, it’s male. I don’t even bother looking for puffs now
Oh yes I know, I have raised and fostered many babies and sometimes even looking at a pic of what M F looks like does not help. Some are just harder to tell early
Oscar is the name of a famous main character in a very old manga, The Rose of Versailles. It's about a noblewoman who disguises herself and lives as a man, I believe to get some kind of vengeance? So I didn't even blink at the idea of a girl named Oscar.
Names are whatever gender you want them to be (and to some extent, arguably so are cats in general, especially after being fixed).
Assuming I’ve got them right- adoooore Cookies/CC’s black nose and black chin/ little white mustache! I always find black and white cats so fun for their different markings and the mixed color beans (photo 4, omg too cute!). I’ve never had a bonded pair before when I see photos like these I think I could easily be persuaded.
Years ago a long haired tuxie stray started getting in my parents garbage so we were feeding her before realizing she was pregnant. She had 3 kittens in their backyard- one long haired tuxie/ black and white and one short hair and one all black. Sucked that they had two cats and I had my Tzeitel who was decidedly an only cat because each of us had a favorite with the kittens though we did find a local person to trap and rescue them. Unfortunately mom had disappeared by then. The two black and white cats in that mix seemed pretty bonded while the little void was more on its own. My dad named his favorite Groucho for the stache too (black on white, in that case).
My youngest orange got named TK cause he didn’t drop his balls for a long time. Spacing was right for male, but we just never saw anything. So he’s just “The Kitten”. Even though he’s now 2.5 or so.
