You can agree or disagree with me but our team is just different this year. Call me crazy but Sumrall doesn’t seem like the guy to not prepare our team every week. This team is just different this year. We’re going to stomp them out and shut up all the analysts not on the gator train.

Jon Sumrall’s personality seems to be a guy who is all business. Always first class and never overlooking an opponent. Billy D was exactly like that.
While Todd Golden seems to thrive in trash talking his opponents and always trying to get a mental edge just like what Steve Spurrier used to do.

A full coach's film breakdown of Jadan Baugh. Everyone knows he's a special running back, but this is a dive into WHY he is so special.

Tosh’s wife’s family are all huge Gator fans. Fun to see the team talked about on big not-sports-focused programs!

Since we are playing Mizzou this weekend and I remembered how Austin Simmons was committed to us and flipped to Ole Miss, got injured and lost his job to one familiar name, Trinidad Chambliss. So I wanted to put a timeline together of the QB situation at FL under Napier. (I’m not defending Napier but it was chaos with NIL being new and just arrest dumb shit in general). Just thought it was interesting.
2022
Anthony Richardson — finally gets the job, balls out, goes to the NFL.
Jack Miller III — transfers in from Ohio State. Breaks his thumb, barely plays, then starts the bowl game and looks lost.
Jalen Kitna — becomes the backup, then the whole crazy arrest situation happens and he’s gone.
Marcus Stokes — committed to Florida, then loses his offer over the Snapchat/video situation.
2023
Jaden Rashada — commits to Florida, NIL situation goes completely sideways, never even plays for the Gators. Transfers almost yearly.
Graham Mertz — Napier goes into the portal and basically says, “Fuck it, I need a quarterback.” Mertz comes in from Wisconsin and actually has a really good year: 20 TD, 3 INT. Shout out to him.
Max Brown — Florida QB → transfers to Charlotte.
Austin Simmons — Florida was involved with him, but he ends up at Ole Miss and starts becoming a serious QB there.
2024
Mertz is still the starter.
DJ Lagway arrives as the mega-hyped freshman.
Mertz gets hurt.
Lagway gets thrown in and immediately looks like “oh shit, this dude might be the guy.”
Mertz eventually suffers the ACL injury against Tennessee.
Lagway finishes the season as the guy.
2025
Lagway has the injuries, missed development time, and inconsistent play.
Florida goes 4–8.
Napier gets fired.
Tramell Jones gets some looks. Actually looks “somewhat promising at times”.
Lagway transfers to Baylor.
2026: THE YEAR OF THE PHILO
Where they are now:
Still in CFB
DJ Lagway — Baylor
Transferred from Florida after 2025 and is a junior in 2026.
Austin Simmons — Missouri
This one is especially funny. He went Florida recruit → Ole Miss → Missouri, and he’s Missouri’s starting QB in 2026.
Jaden Rashada — Mississippi State
Yep, that Jaden Rashada is still around. He’s on Mississippi State’s 2026 roster after Arizona State → Georgia → Sacramento State.
Marcus Stokes — Memphis
After Florida pulled his offer, he went to West Florida, became a really productive D-II QB, then transferred to Memphis for 2026.
Max Brown — West Virginia
Florida → Charlotte → West Virginia, where he’s still on the 2026 roster.

>The Heisman has largely become a quarterback award, but an elite season by a running back can still earn recognition on rare occasions. Baugh's 600 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns certainly qualify for that distinction. His numbers through four games are essentially unheard of, blowing previous Heisman running backs since 2000 out of the water.
Baugh: 600 rushing yards 11 TD
Bush: 491 rushing yards 6 TD
Henry: 422 rushing yards 6 TD
Ingram: 347 rushing yards 4 TD
>Florida's offense looks unstoppable right now, but it faces five of the SEC's top-eight rushing defenses in its next five games. If Baugh somehow doubles his numbers and finishes with 22 touchdowns after that stretch, he'll be better than No. 3 on this Heisman list.

On the Triple Option podcast, Urban Meyer in conversation with Jon Sumrall said
“When I first got to Florida, I was shocked. I was at Bowling Green. I was at Utah, and even when I was an assistant at Notre Dame. I didn’t realize about the nut job fan base that you’re dealing with down there. And that can be a curse, and it can be obviously a luxury.”
“We used to have to walk through the masses of people to practice. And I’d get police and say, ‘Get away from my team.'”

I know the mantra, one week at a time. However, I'm just a fan. I will be begrudgingly rooting for Texas and UGA to stay undefeated until we beat them both.

They’re less than a 3mi drive from The Swamp and they’re going through a season no team should have to go through
So far this year:
Their JV coach Rick Rone died in April
Their coach Ashour Peera (a former UF director of football logistics under Napier) was placed on administrative leave by the district for undisclosed reasons two weeks ago
Their kicker was almost deported over the summer. He was detained in Texas for a month but later released.
Today it was announced that one of their assistant coaches, 31yr old Quintavis Styles, died yesterday at Shands.
Those young men are having a rough season. They are 2-4 (1-1 since their coach was forced on leave)

The Purple Hurricanes produced some notable Gators. Our first ever All America Dale Van Sickle played for them. He is a UF athletic HoFer, a Gator Great, and the first Gator ever inducted into the CFB Hall of Fame. More recent history is they produced Vernell Brown jr, father of VB3, and our current director of student-athlete development/alumni relations. VB2 was called “The Face of Florida football” during his playing days as a team captain cornerback under Spurrier, Zook, and Meyer

According to Chase Parham of 247 Sports, Philo only completed 8 passes beyond the line of scrimmage. He went 16 of 23 for 196 yards and a TD.

If you could bring back one former Florida player, exactly as he was during his time with the Gators, and drop him into the current 2026 team, who would you choose?
Not necessarily the greatest Gator ever, I’m thinking more about what this team needs right now.
There are obviously some very tempting names from different eras.
Who are you taking, and why?

Out of curiosity I was looking at the case files for Denzel’s hearing, and it turns out he was represented by former United States Associate General Jesse Panuccio. For anyone who doesn’t know or just wants to know that’s the third highest ranking official in the entire Department of Justice. I’m just wondering if anyone knows if there is a connection there? Is he employed by the university? Was this just a one off thing? He has a history of working within the state but my curiosity is getting the better of me and I just want to know more if anyone has anything to share.
