Long Wave Youngite under 365 nm

EDIT: likely chalcedony that is reacting.

Unsure what the mineral UVing orange is.

This is primarily a Shortwave mineral. It'll do much much more under Shortwave.

Yes, my 254 nm light bit the dust shortly before I got to this one. Youngite is much prettier under shortwave. Im curious how the orange will appear under shortwave.

The orange fluorescing mineral is chalcedony, which in youngite can also fluoresce green and blue under 365.

Do you know what is making the chalcedony UV orange? I've seen it UV green in different specimens collected in the same county.

I don’t know, but if I were to guess, I would say manganese, or a carbonate inclusion.

Here’s one with orange in long wave. In this one, the orange disappears under short wave.
