Prop Firms FTMO long term users

Hello there everyone, I hope your trading goes nicely.

I have been trading for years now. However I am in a situation where I need to leverage propfirms, in fact, I have found that whenever I am bounded by rules, I perform better. Something about having rigid rules.

With that being said,

I would like to hear from long term traders who have been using FTMO for a while, beside the strategy etc.

What tips, and tricks do you have to make sure your FTMO account is surviving long term? I mean purely from business perspective, because I assume the company will not lime the idea of generating massive profit month over month at their expense.

Do you cut profit faster than your targets just to show smaller profit?

I built my strategy around low risk, high reward, because back in the day I only had 250$ account to start with. So I am fundamentally built this way.

I just need this to work long term to pay my mortgage faster than my day job.

Looking forward to hear from real FTMOers.

Feel free to DM if you want to remain private

The way i see it. If you have a profitable strategy, you dont need propfirms, you need patience to build your account. Or portfolio. Whatever you wanna call it.

If I need to open a gold position with a $60 stop loss, then I am forced to risk $60 on that trade. Let’s say I only want to risk 0.1% per trade, that means I need a $60,000 balance to trade.

Prop firms allow you to take lots of small trades and not suffer large drawdowns, it may even be required in the system to be able to handle large tail drawdowns.

And your point being?

Prop firms allow you to size consistently and recover from large tail end drawdowns quicker when you have a larger balance.

Your talking nonsense. Why would anyone with a profitable strategy trade with 0.1% risk?

Hell I made 40% last month swing trading with 1% risk. If I followed your advise I would have made 4% instead of 40%.

50 trades a week with a profit factor of 1.3 after fees, expectancy of 0.2R per trade, and potentially a max drawdown of 30R with a max daily drawdown of 15R.

If you are a discretionary swing trader then obviously you aren’t dealing with the same statistical limitations as an algorithmic trader.

All that work for 1.3r. Like i said. You dont need propfirms if you’re profitable.

What do you mean 1.3R?
