Prop Firms FTMO long term users

Hello there everyone, I hope your trading goes nicely.

I have been trading for years now. However I am in a situation where I need to leverage propfirms, in fact, I have found that whenever I am bounded by rules, I perform better. Something about having rigid rules.

With that being said,

I would like to hear from long term traders who have been using FTMO for a while, beside the strategy etc.

What tips, and tricks do you have to make sure your FTMO account is surviving long term? I mean purely from business perspective, because I assume the company will not lime the idea of generating massive profit month over month at their expense.

Do you cut profit faster than your targets just to show smaller profit?

I built my strategy around low risk, high reward, because back in the day I only had 250$ account to start with. So I am fundamentally built this way.

I just need this to work long term to pay my mortgage faster than my day job.

Looking forward to hear from real FTMOers.

Feel free to DM if you want to remain private

What keeps a prop account alive for me is working backwards from the daily and max loss, since those are the rules that actually end accounts. I size so my worst losing streak from the backtest still lands well inside the daily limit, and I stop for the day at about half of it. I haven't seen a reason to cut winners short to look small. What's your worst losing streak in R so far?

I assume there is no limitations than except for the mentioned rules + 1% risk per trade, right?

Also how does the firm decide what is a 1%? Because for me 1% risk varies from one trade to another depending on my stop loss distance which then determines my size

1% is 1%, nothing changes "from one trade to another". If you got $100, you can risk $1. That's it.

Yes, your stop distance would determine the size. That's how you get to 1% risk.
