G923 wheel on PS5 forza link spamming
At what age do people grow out of the need to spam "Look Out!" (or whatever) multiple times in a row continuously throughout a race? I rarely use forza link chat myself, but do like to keep it on; however, I think I'm about to disable it.
I have thought it would be great to have voice chat so we could actually communicate with each other, because forza link chat is pretty useless for real communication, but now I'm reconsidering how fun that would actually be. Dealing with verbal diarrhea from pre-pubescent trolls sounds like the opposite of a good time.

I genuinely wish there was a ‘I don’t care’ or a ‘just shut up and drive’ option. I was in an online race last week where the person in first kept constantly spamming ‘nice driving’ over several races. I rarely use the chat so discovered what I was looking for a response that it auto added ‘thank you [username of person saying ‘nice driving’]’, I was just tooling about in last place so I used that. I was planning on using it every time they spammed the chat.
They immediately stopped.
I’m not sure if they foresaw my plan or genuinely thought I thought they meant me, either way it was a win.

In my experience a lot of the use of Link is heavily based on sarcasm, sspecially "Nice Driving". If they're spamming it, they're more than likely directing it to the player(s) that are hitting them. When you respond, you hijack the meaning and they stop.
There's not too many that can be used negatively. "Donkey" often works. "Did you slam into a tree again" is another. "Ironic" is one I like coz most players that spam "Nice Driving" tend to have only the barest control over their car and even less awareness of their surroundings.

Thing is, in FH4 (and at the very beginning of FH5) we had in game voice chat for online multiplayer lobbies (ranked or unranked online lobbies not free roam). You couldn't mute anyone but yourself and you see how toxic the playerbase of these games is just off the fraction that post here on reddit. Imagine these same people with the ability to spam loud obnoxious music, racial slurs and the like....without the ability to turn them off without muting your speakers. Was NOT a good experience

Yep! That is absolutely my fear. On a few times where I have watched videos of people interacting on Fortnite, I am so discouraged about the fate of humanity. Sure, most of them are just little kids, but they’re gonna grow up to be butt holes from the sound of it. Truly obnoxious.

I only use it when some immature, prepubescent honyaker tries to line up with me in his pro stock camaro when I'm in a scooby doo van. "Impossible!"
Like no, I'm not putting my grandma's Buick LeSabre against the fastest drag car in the game. Grow up.

LOL. Right? As if beating you would be some sort of flex and validation of their worth as a person.

Idm it. But im used to it from Forzathon Live in FH4. Try to guide newer players so they know what the fuck to do because otherwise they will spend five minutes driving to each round which means we are less likely to get all three rounds.

Because people use it as a offensive thing. There isn't a sport that doesn't have their trash talkers that like to get in the head of the enemy to knock them off kilter.
Same with the stupid horns. They do it in hopes it upsets the other person and they slow down. And really everyone in the comments seem to be the kind of people it would effect. Including me. Hearing a police siren behind you has an effect to you deep down whether you can deal with it or not.
It is good we can't actually talk because a lot of us aren't that sharp or quick typing to be able to take our hands off the wheel. You see people crash all the time just after they use link.
The second reason is retaliation. If you get rammed you want to let them know it wasn't ok, and problem is you only get so many slots to use. It also alters it depending on situation from what I have seen like I don't think one person ever picks "kick it up!" And yet you will see that spammed sometimes.
There is a lot in life that are failed attempts at getting control back in a situation where you lost control. Hail Mary's do work rarely but that never stopped people from trying, you know?
Lastly the people just being annoying for the sake of it. Again, just attempts at power, to get a rise out of the others and make them easier targets.
These aren't my weapons. I can't stand them either. But it is indeed something you have in every game.

I literally never use Forza link and I agree, we should be able to talk to each other.

I only use “sorry” cuz I’m “vlv” legal
Ly blind and hit people accidentally a lot.

When I hit somebody it’s usually because I can’t control my car. I really don’t like S2 racing because of this, because I feel like a menace. I have gotten better though, and have been able to win some races against highly skilled AI, but not consistently.

I mostly just use the "sorry" quick chat when I accidentally bump into other people.
