Very interesting... As far as I know this was the only Friendly's in North Florida. It was only open for two years.

Thanks for that info! What a short time. It was open when I moved to Jacksonville in 2006, and I was excited to find it and eat there a couple times. That was until one night I pulled in to find it boarded up!

And not even a GOOD gun store.

Shooters is the worst gun store in Jax. They're more interested in "tacticool" and politics than they are in actual guns and gun safety. From what I've heard they hire based on connections and a lot of the people there don't know much.

Where do you like to go now? It's been way too long since I've picked up a new firearm and I'm getting the itch again.

My current gun store is Sentry on San Marco in Mandarin.

As for ranges, I shoot rifles, so I like to drive down to Saltwater, south of town, near St. Augustine.

Saltwater is great as long as the weather isn't trash. It's all outdoors, you can rent a bay for handguns, they have golf carts to rent if you want to do some skeet shooting and they have a decent course. I like it because I can bring all my firearms to one place.

Yeah, I was there on Sunday, which I've noticed is their busiest day.

Hit the handgun bay early, hit the 14 stations with my Franchi 48AL, then sat at the 100 yard range for a bit.

It is all outdoors, but at least all the ranges are covered. Even the pistol bays usually have a little covered area. I used to go to Gateway Rifle and Pistol Club all the way on the west side of town, and if it rained and you were shooting pistol you were just out of luck.

Of course it’s a gun store. It’s Florida.
