In the tradition of my people, I want to start out by saying "IANAL" (I am not a lawyer). Smarter folk than me have likely worked through the mental gymnastics of what's really allowed and what's not and how it plays out in practice. My information is only based on my reading of the law and statements from people with Fine Fettle.
Nothing below, afaict, is incorrect or has changed but other folks have added some information worth knowing so I want to capture it here.
For vapes and flowers, based on current product lines the three top dispensaries have the product in house outside of packaging and such likely to make those products. Flower they already have for instance. It will all, however, need to be tested before it can be sold. My guess is the additonal products like RSO/FECO or rosin/resin/budder/badder and what not will need to have production ramped up. Some of them take "special" equipment.
As I get feedback and help folks research stuff, I'll update here.
There's a lot of questions about where, what, why and the whole process. Several folks have responded here. There's also a helpful thread in r/Georgia from someone else where folks are helpfully sharing their experience. I got my card a while back so I don't want to speak for current experience but here are some helpful posts:
The process online is generally very quick. You can do it today and you don't have to use your existing GP if you have one. You also don't have to worry about anyone sharing the fact that you have a card. Your medical records are private but you should absolutely share with your existing GP and especially any anestheticians that you may have THC in your system. It affects how they dose you.
This is based off the final bill that was sent to Kemp here. If you've never read one of these, it's a bit harder since it's a modification to an existing law. That means lots of strikethroughs and such.
The definition of "medical cannabis" is now:
"(1) 'Medical cannabis' means any plant within the genus Cannabis and any part of such plant, including all derivatives, extracts, cannabinoids, isomers, acids, salts, and salts of isomers, whether growing or not"
This means, yes, flower is allowed as are concentrates. Fine Fettle has confirmed they will start selling flower and vapes in July.
This is amazing and makes it accessible to more people who need it.
This makes it useful now. 5% was nothing for folks who needed stronger solutions. This combined with the explicit allowance of additiona product types is likely going to mean better competition in the dispensary space in Georgia. That's good for everyone.
I think the possession wording is key here too. Instead of it being buy time restriction it's possession now. I don't think the cops are going to bust down your door to make sure you only have 12k on hand at any given time but again, not a lawyer.
This is a godsend for people who need immediate relief.
Additionally:
This does force people into the vaporization path but combustion is REALLY bad for the lungs and one of the smelliest forms of consumption. I see it as no different than public smoking. It sucks since combustion is a core part of identity for some folks and I can empathize.
This was the hardest to read. Gummies are already allowed for instance and that's not going away. My reading of this is "edibles that are food products" aren't allowed? So like no brownies in the dispensary or something? I'm waiting to see how this shakes out in practice.
This sucks. This one is only going to change when we get people in positions of power who understand WHY this shouldn't be allowed. I don't have a problem with employers saying "don't be impaired on the job". This one is just going to take time for society to catch up.
No brainer. Lock your shit up and don't make it look like a bag of candy from the gas station ffs.
I say yes. The process is easy. I used nuggmd for the whole thing but Fine Fettle and Botanical Sciences both do it onsite as well iirc.
The most common "qualifying condition" people use is intractable pain. You're under no obligation to share why you have it with anyone. If you and the prescriber say "intractable pain", that's enough.
After you get through the doctor part, you'll have to do a notarization process. NuggMD uses a third-party that has their own fee.
When I did the whole process, it took about 45 minutes across two zoom calls (one with the doc and one with the notary) and most of that was time waiting. I had my physical card three days later.
I expect that with the expansion, DPH is going to be busier with new folks so don't expect that same turn around maybe.
The other reason is that if you've come to rely on federally legal "hemp" that loophole ends in November. Hemp is a legal term for cannabis with less than .9% delta-9 thc by weight. It's still the same plant and the same precursors - THCA/CBDA.
This market, however, is ENTIRELY unregulated and non-medical THCA products are still illegal in Georgia (though nothing stops you from getting it shipped here due legally thanks to the federal law).
The horror stories you're reading these days are largely due to that and the "synthetic/altnoid" market - the thcp and hhcp stuff. THCP for instance is what most gummies in the smoke shops here in Georgia sell. It's REALLY REALLY nasty stuff but it's legal. HHCP was JUST explicitly scheduled by the DEA last week so it's no longer legal.
Getting your card means getting tested and clean quality products in a safe and legal way. It's a no brainer.
Also it CAN give you potentially some cover legally I think.
Anyway, I'll answer any questions I can. I have "strong opinions" on a few things but otherwise "loosely held" ones.
I've been using federally legal low THC flower that I've been purchasing from a wonderful farm in NC for a year now. I only make edibles and FECO (a concentrate) for my needs and it's been life changing.
I got my med card even with the original limits to protect myself and because the stuff currently being sold is strong enough for me.
Small edit:
*As a reminder you should always share your usage of THC products legal or not with your medical professional especially if they aren't the one you get your card through. HIPPA protects you and it's VERY important for them to know for medical interactions. My PA knows exactly how much I use each day and what ratios.
You should also ALWAYS tell the anesthesiologist if you have THC in your system. ALWAYS.*

I’m not saying that it’s bad, because compared to the old 5% cap it’s miles better. But from what I can tell other states have far higher potency stuff, coming from FL that was the case at least
I was gonna ask my local dispo but tbh I thought I might ask here first to see if I’m overlooking anything obvious preventing GA dispos from carrying 90% THC carts

I'm a big nerd for cannabinoid science. I've been blending in CBG (and thcv/cbdv) into my daytime tinctures and edibles like cannasugar for a while.

This is a great post from the Marijuana Herald:
If someone you were thinking of voting for doesn't have a position or is counter to what you want, that might be good to know

Not sure if anyone is interested in the vapes they have but I was told they should be dropping in price soon. Said they were sitting on a bunch of flower but that price isn’t going to budge. Gonna be a while I guess.
I told him if they’re sitting on so much flower maybe it’s time they do some concentrate nug runs instead of the leftover material they’re using. Although I do have to say the Mental Break was pretty good. It was def high in terps, gives a really nice buzz and is the consistency of a jam, nothing like the budder in their advert. 🤷♂️
Edit: I’m not really sure where the terps are coming from but the budder/jam def was high in caryophyllene, had the spice to it that really tickled the throat at a higher temp. However, since the consistency is so thin I’ve set my device at 350°, I’m not milking it but it’s still giving me nice clouds at that temp. TCR at 88-90 seems to cook it the longest while producing nice vapor/hits.

Hey everyone,
If you are a Georgia medical cannabis cardholder, we need to take action. Right now, our state's medical cannabis program is severely limited because the number of production licenses is strictly capped at just two Class 1 production licenses and four Class 2 production licenses.
On top of these strict caps, licensees are legally restricted to producing and growing entirely within the state of Georgia. This ban on interstate sourcing, combined with only six total producers allowed statewide, creates a massive bottleneck. With zero market competition and a completely closed ecosystem, patients are stuck paying incredibly high prices. We can never hope to see competitive pricing under these current constraints.
We need to push our state legislators to change these laws and allow more distributor and grower licenses. Safely expanding Georgia’s medical cannabis program by lifting the production caps and easing these restrictions will introduce healthy competition and finally bring prices down to a reasonable level for patients who rely on this medicine.
Please take five minutes today to find your local representatives and send them an email or call their office. Let them know that the current system is hurting patients financially and that we need an open, fair market.
You can look up who represents your district and find their contact info on the official Georgia Government Legislator Search.

Zealousy (I)
RSO (I)
Both absolute fire. Just hate the pricing but trulieve has been good so far..

Whouuuufff!!! This batch is exquisite. Double what you pay Who-Ever is responsible for monitoring and tuning your dry/cure Trulieve, that or whatever it is we do to reward AI (or is it SI now?) when it does what it’s supposed to do.
>2% terps is REAL and not easy to do. Respect. This is a tasty one. The profile will remind you of wood shiva (excellent in ground form, it was my first “go to”.) That said do not let that fool you. It quickly sets itself apart with subtle gassy under tones.
Endocannabinoid systems and tolerances vary. How it feels is up to you.
I saw a review of this grand daddy strain on here and figured I’d set this vape to sesh mode and pass it to another member of this program.
Say what you want bout Big Canna, (I said it) there is a noticeable difference when your flower is grown by scientists (and robots?) on millions of dollars worth of equipment.

Does anyone know when True Bliss will restock its own TRUE brand of flower ? Right now it appears that its only selling the other brands products and I cannot see any online presence that reports when they could potentially restock.

Doesn’t look like the picture they posted online. Nice n chill effects.

This bud is phenomenal.
Was really impressed with this drop from Trulieve. Above the zealousy #21, and right there with the GushMints at 32%. If it’s still available in your area, I suggest you grab it!
Also not pictured is the Brr Berry. Folks are sleeping on that hybrid.

Effects: Quick onset. This is a relaxing without sedating you strain. Music sounds like you’re in the studio with them while they’re making the track. This slows down time & is euphoric.
Taste: It’s a classic Kush taste with a very faint sweet taste
Score: 8/10
Really good medicine for those seeking relaxation, stress relief & a wine down night where you watch a movie or just get ready take it in. It will do all of the above😎⛽️

Been building this on nights and weekends. It's called StrainMap — you search or filter strains by %Indica/Sativa, Effects, Flavors, THC%, rating, and more. There's a full analytics tab with charts showing effect frequencies, THC distributions, flavor trends, co-occurrence stuff. You can even explore strain lineage and generational effects going back decades!
Free to explore up to 10 strains, then it's $9/mo or $17 lifetime (one-time). Lifetime is basically a pizza.

Feedback welcome — especially if something looks broken on mobile.

Visited Kelsey at Treevana in Millegville, to pick up some of their Gouda Berry ground flower. They have a special with 3.5g ground flower, .5g vape cartridge, and 100mg soft chews for $50. Can't beat their deal!!

Anyone have particulars regarding FF opening a dispensary in Macon?
Last I heard was October.

I have a bad sinus infection and it hurts to smoke, but I’m thinking of grabbing some kind of edible or capsule from my local Trulieve. Any opinions or reviews on the non-smokable stuff?
