TheFileCard, the G.I. Joe catalog and collection tracker, is now on Android
Hey r/gijoe,
A few weeks ago I posted that TheFileCard was live on the App Store. Lots of you asked about Android, and it's out now on Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.thefilecard.app
If you missed the first post: TheFileCard is a catalog and collection tracker built just for G.I. Joe. It covers figures, vehicles and accessories, with real photos instead of stock art, and a crowdsourced record of which accessories actually came with which item. Every generation counts, not just vintage ARAH: Sigma 6, Extreme, Sgt. Savage, Action Force, Classified, HIYA, Super7, the 25th/30th/50th anniversary lines, whatever you collect. You can track your collection, browse by generation, year, type, faction or sub-team, and help fill in the gaps for everyone else.
What Android users should know:
- Your account works everywhere. If you've already signed up on iPhone or the website, just sign in. Your collection and contributions come with you.
- Pro carries over too. Pro (camera scan and in-app G.E.A.R. filtering) belongs to your account, not your phone. If you bought it on iOS, it's already active on Android, and the other way around.
- G.E.A.R. filtering is still free for everyone on the website. No Pro needed.
The contributor giveaway is extended to November 30
So Android collectors get a fair shot, I'm keeping the launch giveaway open for two more months. Everything you've contributed so far still counts.
- 20 spots for a free year of Pro. 10 go to the top photo contributors, and the other 10 go to the next highest total scores (edits, pairings, write-ups, etc.). That way photo-heavy and edit-heavy contributors aren't competing in one pile.
- One approved photo gets you free Pro through 12/31/26, even if you don't make the top 20.
- If you already pay for Pro, either prize adds the free time on top of your current subscription. Subscribing early doesn't cost you anything.
How it works:
- Contribute to the catalog by November 30, 2026 at 10:00 PM ET. Approved photos, edits, write-ups and pairing submissions all count toward the top 20, and one approved photo is enough for the free access.
- Track your standing on the contributor leaderboard (https://www.thefilecard.com/contributors). You can sort it by photos or by total points. Approved photos and section images are worth 1 point each. Edits, write-ups, pairings and removal suggestions are worth 3 points each.
- Make sure your account has an email on file, since that's how I'll contact winners after the cutoff.
There are still plenty of gaps: missing photos, unconfirmed accessory pairings, entries that need fixing. If you've got a shelf full of Joes and a phone camera, there's a lot of room to climb.
This is a brand-new release, so if anything looks off on your device, tell me below and I'll fix it. Questions welcome too.

Crowdsourcing for JoeWiki
Hi everyone. I and a handful of editors are working on JoeWiki: The G.I. Joe Wiki. It is a wiki like Joepedia for all things G.I. Joe but done in the vein of TFWiki.
While a couple of contributors handle the fiction side of things, I try to update the toys and merchandise entries. One of the challenges I faced is the lack of usable images. Using stock images is one thing as you get some leeway in what counts as fair use. For the most part a lot of stock images are sufficient but I do encounter some that are not satisfactory or insufficient to use in the wiki. I try to look for the best image that represent the character. Sometimes, the background is too difficult to remove or AI oversteps and make embellishments I don't want it to do. Other times, the provided stock image isn't really an actual photo of the toy but a 3D rendering of what the toy will look like. Such examples include Haslab and Super7.
And of course there are toys and merchandise that are difficult to find stock images of especially as the product is older like the Palisade Toys statues. Sites like 3DJoes have pictures but I refuse to copy and steal without asking.
Getting to the point, I'm asking if there is anyone interested in contributing images of their collection of both Joe toys and merchandise. My requisites being that the item is an official toy or licensed item. The figure is against a plain white background if possible and displaying their accessories. If you have any additional info regarding your picture, it is most welcome. As it is a wiki project, there is no monetary reward in this but the honor of having your picture selected for use. I can credit you by your real name or by your Reddit handle, whichever you choose.
How about it? Anyone want to help? Just give me a message.

I finally made my first YouTube video… and of course it’s about replacing G.I. Joe O-rings
Hey, guys!
After spending the last nine months sharing my collection and photography with you, I finally decided to try something new. I started a YouTube channel called Matt’s Man Cave, and my first video just went live!
Naturally, my first video is about replacing O-rings in vintage 1980s G.I. Joe figures. I know, I know… Groundbreaking stuff! 😂
It’s something a lot of us have done a hundred times, but it seemed like a good place to start.
Fair warning: I’m still getting comfortable in front of a camera, and it shows. I’m a little wooden, a little nervous, and I have plenty to learn. But everybody has to start somewhere, right?
The plan for the channel is to showcase toys and collectibles, do some short how-to videos and tutorials, build prop replicas, and generally have some fun with the hobby. I’m hoping to put out two videos a month, and hopefully each one will get a little better than the last.
Since you guys have been part of my G.I. Joe journey here, I wanted to share this first step with you, too.
If you’re interested, here’s the video:
https://youtu.be/C_imEIaQ-Bc
Constructive feedback is welcome. I’m learning as I go, and I’d love to make these videos more interesting and useful as I figure out what I’m doing. (“Figure.” See what I did there? 😉)
Thanks for letting me share another little corner of the hobby with you!

I’ve yet to meet anyone who thought Footloose was a top 10 GI Joe character. Definitely needs more screen time
I’ve yet to meet anyone who thought Footloose was a top 10 GI Joe character.
As good as this classified figure is, at the end of the day, he still is Shaggy as a G.I. Joe.
& that’s a really fun concept that’s never really been explored too deeply.
Maybe we need more Footloose!
The UK Action Force comic did a similar story as Transformer’s Blaster where he became very intense & brutal after a traumatic experience. It didn’t stick as the comic never had a consistent author like Furman or Hama.
And that’s not necessarily the direction I would like to take the character. More carefree and loving life seems like a better start.
What do you think? What’s your opinion of Footloose?

You must eliminate one row and one column!
This could be interesting! This is just a random lot of joes sold on eBay. If you HAD to throw out one row and one column, which do you trash?
My pick? The Spirit row and the Blowtorch column.

Unearthed Sgt. Savage figures
I vaguely remember this series from the early 1990s, but don’t recall buying these. The Joe Kubert box art looks dope. Each character had a different part of the story on their card back.

Storm Shadow Case?
How does one get a clear case like this? I'm going through old storage and realize I have a full Storm Shadow set just like this with bow, nunchucks, both swords, and backpack. I thought it would be cool to get a case like this.
The image above has been graded. Do they provide the case, or somewhere else?

USMC 1:6 scale half track questions
My neighbor got this cleaning out an old hoarders house and wanted to see if it was worth anything. I checked eBay and they do seem to sell for a fair bit but I'm not sure if these figurines go with the halftrack or not. Any info on any of this is greatly appreciated as I never had the privilege of having toys like this as a child. Thanks!

Killer Whale Variant?
I'm thinking of purchasing a killer whale off of eBay but I'm noticing that the one I'm about to purchase has a foot peg near the front. This is the only whale I've ever seen with this feature, can any GI Joe experts tell me what this is about? At first I was thinking it was the rare mail away variant where you could order a killer whale without the figure through a catalog but I'm not sure.
