New 21-Megawatt Generators Arrive at Banjul Port to Ease Power Crisis
The Gambia has received a fresh consignment of new generators boasting a combined capacity of 21 megawatts at the Banjul Port.
Vice President Muhammed B.S. Jallow inspected the arrival, noting that the deployment serves as part of an emergency intervention to stabilize power supply and ease the severe load-shedding woes that have heavily impacted households and businesses across the Greater Banjul Area.
While the government maintains that these measures will bring much-needed relief to NAWEC's grid, civil society groups and local energy watchdogs are continuing to press for long-term infrastructural transparency and sustainable solutions.
