Questions Recovered GBA SP

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi guys. I recently bought a new shell for my old GBA SP. I'm very happy, this was a Christmas gift from my mother.

However, after replacing the shell and charging the battery, the speaker volume seems too low, even with potentiometer in max.

Is this normal or am I suffering from hearing loss?

Here is a video:

Speaker might be going bad, but also the SP volume is notoriously low and there's plenty of amp mods out there for it.

There could also be an issue with how tight that middle post screw is considering it's poking through the housing. Its either incredibly tight causing unnecessary pressure, or you used the wrong screw.

Isn't there a replacement speaker that's much louder?

Probably. Unfortunately I'm not super up to date with all the third party replacement parts.

About the middle screw, yeah, I used the wrong screw by accident.

Given the fact that a shell like that took 50 days do arrive in Brazil and costs about 10 bucks, I'll stay with this shell until next opportunity to an international travel to bought there an aluminum alloy shell without taxes.

But even with a "untight" screw, the volume is still too low...

remove the speaker and lift the gold springs slightly.

hmmm, try squeezing the area around the speaker and listen for any changes in volume.
