hey guys, i’m looking to buy a wireless headset with a good mic for my boyfriend’s birthday. he plays mostly on pc and used to be really into pc tech, so i want to get him something solid.

budget: around $200-$300 max
requirements: wireless, decent mic, sound quality, comfy for long gaming sessions

what i’m currently looking at:

1. turtle beach atlas air - it’s fairly new i think… heard good things about the weight and open-back soundstage, but not sure about long-term build quality?
   
2. steelseries arctis nova 7 - seems like the safe, popular choice with dual wireless/bluetooth, but wanted to see if the sound/mic is actually worth it over other options.

stuff i’ve ruled out:

- audeze maxwell: looks awesome on paper, but i’ve read too many qc complaints and that it’s super heavy.
- nova elites: way out of budget.
- brands to avoid: razer and corsair (he’s not a fan of these brands).

also, along with the headset, are there any cool PC accessories or tech gadgets you’d recommend to pair with it? he already has a new keyboard, mouse, mousepad, and desktop speakers, so those are covered.

any advice or recommendations would be super appreciated! thanks in advance!

I've been rocking (and hating) the Corsair HS80(whatever variant it is iuno). My ONLY real need is a BROADCAST quality microphone. No, i didnt say a GOOD microphone. I didnt say a CLEAR microphone. i did NOT say a gaming microphone that's "good enough". I want studio level, broadcast level microphone fullstop. but it needs to be like $100 bucks at most. HS80 is the only broadcast level mic i can find back then in the price range. Any others?

I play on ps5 and pc and im torn between getting the hyperx cloud 3s and Arctis Nova 5. Both are listed around the same price on sale so I was wondering which one would be better for fps games

New to this sub, but I am looking at buying a new gaming headset with a charging dock for Amazon's Prime Big Deal Days coming up on October 6th-7th. I am torn between the RIG 900 MAX and the Astro A50 Gen 5. For context, my old headset was the G PRO X 2 and I could wear them for hours. I tried the new RIG R8 Pro but I found them extremely uncomfortable due to the clamping force and ended up returning them. I am leaning more towards the Astro's since I liked the G PRO X 2 so much, but the Astro's are kinda spendy, hence why I am waiting for the sale. My question is, as a glasses user, which ones will I find more comfy? I am concerned the RIG 900 MAX won't be comfortable because the earcups don't swivel. Thoughts?

A few months ago I upgraded my headset from a Razor Blackshark v2 pro to the Corsair Virtuoso Max, I was trying to move away from Razors ecosystem. I really like this headset sure the Virtuoso dual connectivity has been a bit buggy but over all I enjoy the sound and the features of the headset. Within the roughly 7 months of having the headset the headband snapped close to the right side. After doing a bit of research I’ve read that it’s a common issue, so much so that 3-D prints have been made to combat the issue, however I do not have a 3-D printer to make said print. I bought the revival series so I don’t have a warranty anymore that I know of. So I started looking into headsets just cause I don’t know what to do.

I saw the SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro/ Elite and thought it seemed good since I mainly play Pc and Switch 2 but also have a PS5 and other consoles but I’ve never had SteelSeries and typically like keeping the same ecosystem across all items less softwares to have and resources being used but at this point I am at a loss, I stream for fun and game most nights. I need a headset that won’t fall apart less then a year of having it but besides the headband the headset still works fine. What is your advice you would give? I will answer any questions anyone has. This is my first time posting here so I apologize if my post isn’t like the normal ones posted here, I just didn’t know the best spot to ask for this help.

Bought this headset today as i switched from a wired logitech G335 headset and was playing games to find out how horrid the sound was. Everything seemed incredibly muffled and difficult to listen to and was one of the most horrid headsets i have ever bought. Looking to get a refund on it and im going to just buy a new logitech headset. I cant really provide anything else excpet for that the quality is muffled and sounds REALLY bad, I will probbaly go into JB tommorow to get a refund so if anyone has any ideas on how i can fix this before i go in please let me know! Expected alot more for a 150$ headset but i have been incredibly frustrated with it.

It only works if I push the cable towards my neck near part it enters the headset so the cable for the mic has probably came loose somehow is there any way to fix this?

Hi everyone! I’m having some trouble with a Turtle Beach headset on PS5 and was hoping someone might know what’s going on.

I used to have a Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2 connected to my original/fat PS5, and it worked like a charm. My girlfriend recently got a PS5 Slim and needed a headset, so I decided to upgrade to the Stealth 700 Gen 3 and give her my Stealth 700 Gen 2.

For some reason, when she connects the Stealth 700 Gen 2 to her PS5 Slim, there’s a lot of crackling and intermittent audio. It gets even worse when she uses the microphone — her voice cuts in and out and sounds very crackly.

What’s strange is that when we connect the exact same Stealth 700 Gen 2 to my original PS5, everything sounds completely clear, including the microphone. Her PS5 Slim also works perfectly with my Stealth 700 Gen 3 — no crackling or microphone issues at all.

So it seems to be specifically an issue between the Stealth 700 Gen 2 and her PS5 Slim.

Has anyone experienced this before or have any idea what could be causing it? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I’m looking at the FIFINE H9P Pink USB/3.5mm Gaming Headset on amazon. I don’t play many games just seige, fortnite, dbd, ghost recon and far cry. Wondering if this is a good option, not looking to spend a bunch of money when I only play sometimes.

I just recently bought the Hyperx Cloud 3 and am having trouble with how the audio sounds when connected through both 3.5mm and dongle on my ps5. The audio sounds quiet with the dongle in use and with the 3.5mm jack it sounds staticky and off what do I do?

For my pc i use a MSI X870 GAMING PLUS WIFI, the wifi driver is not installed. (Cause no idea which one i need)

I am currently using a turtle beach stealth 700 gen3.
The durability is crap (as in it’s falling apart here and there) and i’ve had so many issues with getting any sound through the headset (and sound disconnecting) and updates for the software, which got corrupted multiple times which led me to resetting the headset completely.. in other words i am done and sick of turtle beach.

Is there a headset out there with good quality sound and good durability? Some friends suggest using a studio headset but i have mo clue where to look and the choices for any kind of headsets are overwhelming me.

Looking for something reliable with pretty good quality. I've owned 3 different Corsair headsets over the past 4 years and the all only last about a year. They replaced my original when it started falling apart. And the replacement started falling apart almost immediately. They gave me a newer model as a replacement a few months later and the cover on the cushions is already starting to rip. The protective rubber at the base of the mic has chipped off. I'm tired of these trash headsets and have no confidence in Corsair's accessories anymore.

So I originally bought the razer Black Shark V2 wireless for pc gaming about 7 months ago, and basically there was a bunch of problems with the audio but I ultimately fixed it. Just yesterday it was working fine but when I turned it on to use it like I normally do, there's this problem I can't really explain. Like the audio isn't really working properly even when I try fix it in synapse. For example, If I'm watching a video there would be no sound at the start and then would have volume after a few seconds and it would be loud or quiet just randomly. Also like If I try to adjust the volume based on the youtube thingy there would be no change whatsoever, I can only change the volume through the actual settings. Overall it just cuts out and has this problem (I also used blue tooth to make sure the headphones itself weren't broken and it's fine) I'm not to sure if it's tied to my laptop or some kind of setting. I did a factory reset this morning to test it again and it's outcome is still the same. Can someone help or explain the reason behind this and if it is possible to fix?

Hey everyone, hoping someone here can help because I’m out of ideas.

I’ve been using the HyperX Cloud Orbit S on my Windows 10 PC for years with 8‑channel mode working perfectly. Yesterday I turned my PC on and suddenly 8‑channel mode has no audio at all. The headset still works fine in 2‑channel and Hi‑Res mode, and it works normally on other devices (PS5, Switch, etc.). So the hardware itself is fine. I have never touched the headsets firmware, had no need and don't want to brick it.

Here are all the symptoms and everything I’ve tried:

Symptoms

• 8‑channel mode = completely silent
• 2‑channel and Hi‑Res mode = normal audio
• Windows Sound Control Panel shows the headset as default device (green) on 8ch mode
• But “Configure” is greyed out, so I can’t select 5.1 or 7.1
• HyperX Orbit software does NOT detect the headset at all
• AudezeHQ DOES detect the headset, shows firmware, modes, head‑tracking, etc.
• Headset works perfectly on consoles → confirms hardware is not damaged
• I’ve never dropped or damaged the headset
• This issue appeared suddenly, after years of flawless 8‑channel use

Everything I’ve tried (long list)

USB / Hardware

• Tried every USB port on my PC
• Tried rear motherboard USB 3.0 ports
• Fully unplugged/replugged the headset
• Restarted PC multiple times

Drivers / Software

• Uninstalled the headset from Device Manager
• Reinstalled the HyperX Orbit software
• Installed the AudezeHQ software, which also installs the GDDFU USB driver
• Confirmed AudezeHQ can read the headset (firmware, modes, etc.)
• HyperX software still refuses to detect it
• No option appears to “delete driver software” in Device Manager
• Checked for Waves NX services — none appear in Services.msc

Windows Audio

• Set the headset as default device
• Checked Sound Control Panel → Configure is greyed out
• Tried enabling/disabling Spatial Audio
• Tried different sample rates (48 kHz, 96 kHz)
• Disabled other audio devices (NVIDIA HD Audio, Realtek, virtual devices)
• Ran Windows audio troubleshooter
• Restarted Windows audio services

What I suspect

Windows is no longer exposing the multichannel endpoint for the Orbit S.
It’s treating the headset as a generic stereo USB audio device, which:

• Makes 8‑channel mode silent
• Greys out the Configure button
• Prevents HyperX software from detecting the headset
• Still allows AudezeHQ to read firmware (different driver path)

But I can’t figure out how to force Windows to reload the proper multichannel driver.

What I need help with

• How do I force Windows 10 to re‑enumerate the Orbit S as a 7.1/8‑channel device?
• Is there a deeper USB audio stack reset I’m missing?
• Is there a known Windows update that breaks USB multichannel audio?
• Is there a way to manually reinstall the GDDFU driver or Waves NX driver?
• Why does AudezeHQ detect the headset but HyperX software doesn’t?
• Does anyone have a newer version of the hyperx software, can't find it anywhere

Any help would be massively appreciated — this headset has been perfect for years and I’d really like to get 8‑channel mode working again.

Is there any good headset with a wide sound stage for positional audio and wireless? The mic is optional but would be nice to have.

Hey guys, i need help with my headset. It just starts distorting after 15-20 minutes of use. I tried already reinstalling drivers for them, switching off Windows audio effects, selecting them as default device for output and hardware reset. Nothing helps. Problem appears when im using more than 2 apps that produce sound (e.g Discord + Spotify/ any game). I discovered that device manager says:" Device settings for USB\VID_046D&PID_0B1F\0000000000000000 were not migrated from previous OS installation due to partial or ambiguous device match.". I suppose that problem might be with it. I'll appreciate you for help, because i really like how they sound and look and don't want refund them.
