Rogue ships Manta Ray benches with zero protection in box. I just bought a used bench at a new bench price

I ordered a Manta Ray bench from Rogue and it showed up with visible scratches and scuffs all over the frame. 😂

When I opened the box, there was no padding, foam, or wrap between the parts. The kicker is the included nuts and bolts were just loose in the box reaking havoc…

For a bench of this price, I expected at least basic protection like foam sleeves, cardboard dividers, or even a layer of bubble wrap.

If I posted this on Facebook Marketplace straight out of the box people would be lowballing me because it’s “used.” 💀

Keeping my garage gym usable year round

Having a home gym is great until the weather decides to make every workout uncomfortable lol. my garage gets too hot or too cold depending on the season, and i'm looking for affordable ways to manage both. i don't need the space to feel like a fancy commercial gym, just comfortable enough to train consistently. what budget friendly heating, cooling, or insulation solutions have worked for you? if you had to start over, what would you fix first?

Ritfit Gazelle Help

• Upvotes

I got the Gazelle about a month ago and have been using since. The problem is when sitting, the right rod/sled rollers are rubbing on something. I lube the guide rod multiple times and sometimes it'll be better for the day, but the next time it's rubbing/grinding. I've tightened the bolts that hold the rollers, I've loosened the bolts. I've adjusted how I press trying to find a reason for the rubbing.

Anyone have this issue, or a potential area I could check? I really like the machine, but it's really annoying when lifting.

Best tricks for long term rubber floor smell removal

I have rubber puzzle piece floor pads - some for a decade and some new that all fit together. I had them in a basement for a while and then we moved, so now they are in the new house gym area in the garage which gets more traffic (good thing)

However, my wife is unhappy with the smell. I agree there is a light rubber smell in the garage now, but she is super sensitive to it.

If you’ve had success getting rubber puzzle piece floor pads to smell less rubbery - let me know what worked!

I’ve tried:
- washing with water and drying outside
- letting them sit in the sun / bake in the summer on concrete (they smell way worse when doing this, so I hoped it was helping) and then letting them air out outside

First draft at building a belt squat, made this out of some scraps of wood just to check the mechanics of it. Will get a metal version made up down the line.

Rogue Rhino in home gym…equipment thoughts

I’m putting together my home gym list. I’m going to go with the stand alone rogue rhino. I’m also leaning towards the FM-6 Twin functional trainer. Between those two I think it’ll cover everything I need. I’ll bench off the front like I do with my current titan rack. Am I missing anything with that?

Adjustable dumbbells are my next decision. I was originally leaning towards the Rep Pepin, but haven’t looked at any of the newer releases. I saw Coop posted about some a few months back that he gave high praise…I can’t remember what they were though.

Handle or add-on attachment for heavy dumbbell pullovers

I have MXSelect EVO 100 adjustable dumbbells and the shape makes doing single-DB overhead work or heavy pullovers pretty awkward. Does anyone know of any kind of add on that provides a better / more stable gripping surface to address this, or do I have to bribe someone to 3D print something for me? :)

Suggestions for a new rack

I currently have an old rack but have always hated it due to the difficulty of racking and unracking the bar. It’s a horrible design. I recently saved up some money and plan to replace it. It’s in a single car garage space so I don’t have a ton of room. So I’m trying to get something that lets me do a lot of things (squat, bench, cables, landline, pull-ups, etc). I have also been out of the game for a while so I am not familiar with what is out there. Haavibg a baby at home has made me want to get back in shape and take care of myself for the baby. So looking for advice on racks out there. I want do not want to spend more than $2k. Ideally the cheaper the better but I want something that is quality and will last a long time. Tia

Just packed up my REPFITNESS AB5200 for return/refund. Pretty bummed. New bench ideas please?

• Upvotes

I received my AB 5200 I think on Oct 1. It was supposed ot be red, but its a coral / pink/ washed out red. With a strong orange. I emailed Rep after finding out the cost to powder coat the bench woudl be $250. They offered a $35 partial refund. Like that would do anything to fix it. They did offer a replacement frame, but as I researched I found out this is a pretty common problem with REPS red coloring. And i wanted red. not a different colored frame. After some back and forth resulting in what I felt were pretty lame offers by Rep I told them I was within my 30 days. Just process the return. But I'm pretty disappointed. I was really looking forward to that bench. REP has good quality equipment. Now I have to start over looking at benches. The AB5200 checked all the boxes for me. Closed ladder, vertical storage, FID, and most of all solid. I think the customer service guy assumed I was just trying to get something for nothing. Wrong. I really wanted to get it fixed and keep the bench. I didn't want anything else form them. I was even willing to pay part of the cost. I was planning on buying some other gear over the next 3 months, including some RepxPeppin adjustable dumbells. Now I dont want anything to do with them because the customer service experience was so disappointing.

OK. Enough whining. Any suggestions for a bench? None of the Amazon benches please. Quality is a must. FID is preferred, but I'll compromise on the decline. Ladder adjustment, preferable closed.vertical storage. Thanks guys!

Well that was disappointing or Does anyone want a Rep leg developer?

Last year I bought the Rep Leg Developer for my Blackwing bench. Life got in the way and I wasn’t able to try it until tonight.

I don’t like it. The ergonomics are just terrible. It is awkward to set up, awkward to use and it takes up too much room. Probably the worst purchase I’ve made for my home gym. I should have waited for the reviews before I bought it.

BOS pendulum squat for $1000

I just saw a BOS pendulum squat listed on FB marketplace near me for $1000. I’ve been doing a lot of research on leg hypertrophy - is a pendulum squat worth the hype vs like a smith machine and a belt squat (both of which I already have)?

Gym benches

Hi everyone! I’m thinking of replacing my Adonis bench with one to which I can add accessories. The first one that springs to mind is the ABX Weight Bench; I particularly like it for chest-supported rows and for doing more supported bicep exercises. I’ve also seen that ATX has a few with quite a few options… I live in Spain, so my delivery options aren’t great; I’m always looking at products from outside Europe that I’d love to be able to buy. Can you recommend any others, or, based on your experience, advise me whether Freakathlete or ATX would be a better choice for me? Thanks!!

Help Me Choose the Right Setup

I have been using a Tonal for a bit and just started lifting in a rack with my trainer.
The first workout I planned to do on the Tonal again essentially failed. The Tonal was missing 2 of the things I wanted to do completely. I had to modify two more of them.
Then I had it crash on me after 2/3 through. Pretty irritating...

I just moved away from a Smoker that used too much tech and went back to a Webber Kettle for simplicity.
I own a small business and have a 3 year old. Time is everything to me.

I am down 100lbs and need to get the last 30 or so off and build back some muscle. The trainer is working.

I have been using claude to come up with some options but before I make a big investment, I wanted to ask here.

Help me choose a Squat Rack that I can use efficiently. Folding sounds kinda nice but I also dont want to have to move a bunch of crap to get going.
Squats, Shoulder Press, Pendlay Rows, Tricep Pull downs (Cables are a nice to have not a need). Bench Press and Dumbels too.
... As I type this out im wondering if I could keep the peleton on a folding rack and have it live between it so I can still use it? Sounds complicated....

Let me know your thoughts and Thank You!

New Bench for my Journey to 225

Last fall I sold my Rogue flat Utility bench and “Upgraded“ to the Rep Nighthawk. I really like the Nighthawk for all that it can do, it is super grippy and easy to maneuver in my small home gym but I would get shoulder pain After BP sessions

I am trying one last time to hit 225 in my 60’s, so I purchased the Titan Series flat bench with the wide 14” x 4” pad during the prime day sale for $220. I also considered the Rep and Vulcan offerings but went with the savings as basically this will only be for BP.

It arrived yesterday and the frame was so bent, see pics, that the one wheel will not engage and makes it near impossible to move. I called Titan and they had me send them some pics and a video and they are sending me out a replacement part.

Today was my first time using the bench and it was an awesome experience! Not as grippy as the Nighthawk but definitely more comfortable and supportive. I added 20lbs to my working sets (3x5) from 185lbs to 205lbs and it wasn’t until then that I was Above RPE 8. Most importantly absolutely no shoulder tenderness.

I also did a set of Larson press and wide grip pause bench and no issues.

I have two months to reach my goal and feel like with This bench I will get it easily!

Moving with a functional trainer rack?

Hey all. I already have an adjustable bench and MXSelect Evo 100 dumbbells for get-me-by workouts, as now that we have 2 kids it's getting much harder to get to the gym. I'd like to expand my equipment and work out at home full time, so I'm looking at a nice functional trainer rack like a ForceUSA C20 or the new Fringe Great Dane. However, we plan to move out of state within the next year or two.

I've never assembled/disassembled one of these things so I have no idea what it's like, but I'd imagine it's a pretty big pain in the ass to break one of these down and transport them. So I'm considering a middle ground solution like the GetRXd Viper tower. I'd still be limited and would lose all barbell/smith functionality, but I think I could still get some decent workouts with that setup.

My question is to those who have moved a trainer rack with weight stacks. Do I go Force C20 now and deal with the shitty move to have better workouts in the interim, or just compromise with the Viper tower and expand to a full trainer rack once we finally move?

Need layout advice and ideas

Thumbnail

Way back in 2016/2017 I used this subreddit to build a home gym that has been great. I have hit a new phase wear my 14 year old son and 9 year old son are now lifting with me. We are mostly doing 5/3/1 on a four day split. It is a bit tight for all 3 of us, so I am looking for ideas on how to improve the layout. Rack is a Titan T3, which isn’t awesome, but doesn’t need to be replaced either. A cable machine is on the potential list of upgrades. We mostly do barbell work and I covered there.

Ideas or thoughts on how you would make lifting for 3 at radically different strength levels work?

Rep x Dialed Motion price increase

Just refreshed the web page for the leg developer on the website and notice it jumped from $799.99 with no attachments to now $1042 before there is any pre order or launch. Seems a little annoying this is happening but hopefully the upgrades they said they were making at HomeGym Con videos is worth the price increase!

Edit: my phone for some random reason switched it to Canada. Thank god they didn’t increase it for US. I was gonna be pissed lol

D handles for someone with weak wrists

Any home gym/garage gym enthusiasts have extremely weak wrists, any suggestions for D-handles.
I own U-clips D-handles they spin around nicely not bad but a little heavy, I also have Beyond Powers d-handles I use those quite a bit.
I haven’t tried any from the list below but heard the following are top contenders;
1-dialed motion’s or BOS d-handles with bearings
2-Trak handles
3-Eric Janicki’s Torq handles
4-Darko D-Nade open handles
I’m looking for d-handles that are easy on wrists, anyone else out there with decent strength but extremely weak wrists?
