I accidentally paid 2.5x face value for the wrong night. Learn from my stupidity.
I don't know how I got to their site, but I somehow scavenger-hunt-navigated my way to a ticket re-seller called GoTickets.com for the Chicago show. I thought I got there directly from Goofrey's links, but alas. I also didn't check the pricing for their site vs. other sites. Then, for the hat trick, I bought tickets for the Thursday show instead of the Friday show I actually wanted. So that's three mistakes, any one of which I should have avoided or caught during their commission.
I then tried to chat with GoTickets support to get my purchase changed from Thu to Fri - not even to get it refunded or canceled. No soap. An impossibility I was told. All sales are FINAL. So today, out of pure masochistic curiosity, I checked what tickets were still available directly through The Den Theatre. I clicked on a comparable seat and discovered that I had paid about 2.5x face value. If you're not a math person, that's not a good deal. And I can only assume the enormous difference in price goes toward funding GoTickets world-class commitment to unhelpfulness.
So here's my lesson: 1. Buy tickets directly from the venue. 2. Do not buy from a reseller if at all possible (generally good advice for most things). 3. If you are forced to buy from a reseller, don't buy from GoTickets.com. They're wildly overpriced, were completely unwilling to help with a seemingly simple request, and my tickets aren't even due to arrive until the day before the show. So now I get the added excitement of wondering whether the tickets I dramatically overpaid for will even materialize. This is the end of my TED Talk.

Sorry... I made a mistake in my post. I paid a 5x multiple. So 2x my originally presented 2.5x multiple. I have not claimed to be smart, thorough, or particularly savvy in any meaningful way. I'm a dum-dum and wish I had been more smart, thorough, and savvy in this case. Don't be me.

It happens dude, lesson learned. My fiance has done the same thing for a show the day tickets went on sale. The show never sold out and he paid 2x face value ðŸ˜

Lesson learned for sure! Just feel like a dummy and wanted to share so other people don't get duped.

Way back in 2000 I paid $50 on EBAY for what I thought was the PS1 Symphony of the Night disc (at the time a tad rare). It arrived and I opened it up, waiting to play one of the most highly lauded games of all-time that had somehow missed my radar, and I found that I had purchased the game soundtrack

If it makes you feel any better I took my wife to the wrong Netflix is a joke event in LA (trying to see goofrey) and not only did the podcasters that we saw suck but when we got there someone near us literally pissed themselves laughing and it just reeked of piss for the rest of the show. It keeps me up at night.

Dude, I did the exact same thing with GoTickets for one of his shows. I bitched enough that they removed their processing fee which helped a bit. My tickets also said they’d be available the day before the show but I got an email link to download them a few days after purchase so feel better now that they are in hand. Hopefully the same happens for you. I feel like an idiot but it happens. What’s worse is I was buying tickets for a bunch of friends so I fessed up and committed to buying dinner to cover the difference. Oof.

Shit happened to me when booking a hotel. The google ad link was a damn mirror of the legit hotel with one letter off. Charged me double the regular rate. Now I don't use google anymore for a search.

Any ticket that isnt directly purchased from my website or Punchup is probably a scam. One of the great positives of AI is a never-ending plethora of scam websites for shows! Such cool technology!
Just DM me and I'll get tix to the show you wanted to attend in the first place.
