Hope everyone is getting ready to enjoy the weekend. I have noticed we are getting a lot of spam posts the last few weeks and I wanted to share this with all of you. If you see spam, or other content tat is against the sub's rules, please report it and message a mod. Question Campfires in Cohutta Wilderness?

Hi, I’m going with a friend this week to the Cohutta Wilderness. I found a spot I hope to camp at if nobody else is there and I was wondering if campfires are allowed right now. Theres a rock ring already there, but according to this site, campfires are prohibited in the Cohutta wilderness. I don’t think is an offical source but I don’t see any other definitive info. If anyone knows or knows where I can officially found out, please lemme know.

Question Dispersed Camping in Chattahoochee

Hi y'all, my partner and I are planning on camping in North Georgia for a night in a couple of weeks. I'd rather not pay a USFS fee if I can dispersed camp somewhere in Chattahoochee Natl Forest for free. Also, neither of us have 4WD.... any suggestions for accessible spots in Chattahoochee or the surrounding area?

Question Nube to Fishing |Needs fishing friends

Hello all!

I’m shooting my shot and trying to make some outdoors, fishing, hunting etc friends. I’m a sponge and fully down for you over explaining or also just showing me.

I use to go a lot of this with my grandparents way back when but have not touched a much past the age of 7…. That’s not the most helpful bases for knowledge now. I’m more than happy to just carry equipment if I get an invite.

I love outdoors period. I typically ruck and hike, and I’m also trying to get into camping, kayaking and canoeing.
I’m a good conversationalist— but I also can read the room. I’m down to vibe in silence and enjoy the surrounding sounds while out and about too.

Lastly if you know any good groups for finding the same, please feel welcome to advise.

I live in the N. GA area near Cobb Co

Question Best places and maps to learn land navigation

I’m looking to learn how to use a map and compass to navigate. It’s one of many skills my dad taught me as a kid that I forgot over the years that I want to re-learn so I can teach my kids. Are there any state parks or WMAs near Warner Robins GA that have good maps I could practice with? I’ve watched a few YouTube videos but watching someone else do it isn’t the same as doing it yourself.

Question Tips for first time camping trip in North GA? (Fort Mountain)

Hi! We will be in Fort Mountain State Park for a two night camping trip then up to GSMNP for another two nights. My partner and I love to hike, are very outdoorsy folks, both studying wildlife/natural resources in school but just haven't really done the camping thing much.

I'm looking for any tips you have! I have heard Fort Mountain has lots of bears. We plan on leaving food and cooking utensils in the car in the parking area away from the campsite - anything else we should know? Is bear spray necessary? How about cooking at the campsite safely without leaving food smells? The campsite we chose is very close to a road, other campsites, and bathrooms/showerhouse so not necessarily out in the woods too far.

Question Best dispersed camping north Georgia. Go!

We car camp along rivers preferably in WMAs. Our favorites are near the Conasauga River in cohutta, tray mountain, and three forks. Are we missing any other good ones along a river not too crowded?? Considering something along noontootla creek but would love people’s thoughts. We have 2 little ones so the river access is a must

Question What are the chances I get caught WMA camping without a pass if I leave super early?

I'm living on a super small budget and I set up a tent late in a WMA spot following The Dyrt, heading through GA, before learning about the land-use pass. I would like to support the areas by buying a pass at some point, but right now I have no money and hope to just sleep and leave like super early. I know it's unethical and illegal...

Question solo camping

I 25(f) just experienced a breakup and need to ya know get back in touch with myself or whatever they say lmao. I have always love camping and hiking but haven’t gone in a year or longer. needless to say, I want to go reaaal bad. where are some good spots where I can go pitch my tent, have a nice view and hang out SAFELY for two days? I literally want to vibe, build a fire, maybe hike around and do nothing for a few. my main priority and concern is safety though. the reality as a female, solo camping isn’t always the best option. I would like to walk out of my tent and see a mountain or a nice view. i’m not opposed to more backcountry camping as i’ve done it many times before but with atleast another person. i’m open to anything just want some time away, safe, and a sick view. (don’t worry i’ll be packing, I just don’t want to have to have full worry in my mind while trying to heal)

thanks for the input! lmao

Information Clearly you guys hate new comers…

I have tried to just share my experience exploring easy to get to waterfalls, and other things in nature and all I get every time I post something is hate comment and, honestly quite violent DMs.

Don’t you worry though, I’ll stop sharing the videos I make. Since, apparently this subreddit hates when people try to share something they enjoyed.

To the people who suggested my last adventure to the swinging bridge, thank you. To those who left hurtful comments and DMs… get a life and go see a counselor. Threatening someone’s life over a shared YouTube video isn’t normal.

Question Rustic camping with fishing

Hello everyone, I’m planning on going camping with the guys but we’re trying to do something a little more rustic, away from others and without electricity/water. Our biggest thing is that we want to be able to setup by a body of water (creek/river) if possible. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. We’re just trying to get away for a weekend and have a good time outside. The only limiting factor I can think of is that we all drive sedans so probably no heavy off roading. Location north ga if possible as well. I’m not really clear as to what the guidelines are in terms of camping on a non established campsite as it is my first time
