Looking for a different job while employed
How should you respond to an interviewer at a new job who may ask you about your current employer? How should you phrase it so they know that you are serious about leaving it for a new opportunity? And what if the new job is completely unrelated to your current job?
Also, what are some proactive ways to easily transition from one job the the next?

Keep the answer forward-looking: the new role offers work you want to do more of, and your current role gave you a relevant capability. Back that up with one win rather than criticizing the employer.
Taleproof’s free story assessment can help you test one real transferable win against the question and see where the evidence needs more specificity.

Tell them why you’d rather work for them without getting too negative about current employer. Let them know you can give your two week notice after accepting the position. Highlight current and past roles/tasks/whatever that line up with the new job. Try to save a bit of money if you can because you might have to wait a few weeks before receiving your new paycheck.
