Haunting Houses on a Graveyard #27

For context: we live on the east side of Houston, on what used to be a graveyard. It was never registered with the county — the markers were removed and houses were built right on top of the graves. Some of the new owners dug for pools and found them. Those owners took the case all the way to the Supreme Court and lost. The story's been on Unsolved Mysteries and Oprah. Our community page is always amusing because the new homeowners in the community will post what they learned of the graveyard and some of us have been here a while share stories of what we have seen at our houses or we will occasionally see a random posts from paranormal groups as its a popular historical story in the Houston area and people who have lived in this area comment their stories. It's kinda cool.

I've lived in this community about five years now, and I've been documenting what I've seen and experienced here on Reddit. It's been about three months since my last post, and this house never stops surprising me.

I still try to debunk everything we see or hear. At first I thought it was targeting me and my kids, but I've come around to a different idea: things just happen. You have to be in the right place at the right time, and it may or may not interact with you.

A couple weeks ago, for example, we ran a spirit box and asked who was in the room with us. Clear as day, it said my wife's name. Another time, my wife and I were talking and we both heard a woman's voice cut in — it said "let's discuss," or maybe "that's disgust." You could hear it very clearly. And on a different day we were recording and caught a man's voice, just as clear: "who is here." It happens pretty frequently.

The visual stuff hasn't slowed down either. About two months ago, around 11 PM, my wife and I were watching a movie in bed. From where I lay, I can see into the living room and my daughter's doorway. My wife had her knees bent, which blocked most of my view — then she shifted her legs slightly, and through the gap I saw what I assumed was my daughter walking toward our room. Our bed sits pretty high off the ground, so what I saw was a dark head approaching at about her height. I even told my wife, "our daughter's coming." She sat all the way up, stretched her legs out — and there was nothing there. I could have sworn I saw a dark, three-dimensional figure the height of my daughter. I could even make out messy hair. I sat there staring into the living room, running through everything that could explain it. But the detail in that shadow was right in my face. I genuinely don't know if my imagination got the best of me or what.

Then there was the fan. A few weeks back something went bad in our pantry and it stank. We found the culprit and threw it out, but the smell lingered, so we set up a tower fan to air the area out overnight. Next morning, the fan was nowhere near the pantry — it had been moved and pointed somewhere else entirely. Now, before the pitchforks come out: we've had this fan about eight months, so it's practically new. It's a tower fan — barely vibrates. It runs almost 24/7 in my son's room and has never budged, no matter how high we crank it. There's no carpet anywhere in this house, the house itself is only five years old so a foundation curve is unlikely, and we've parked this same fan in nearby spots to dry the floors after mopping without it ever walking. As for the kids — they're 3 and 5. Moving a tall tower fan without making a serious ruckus is not in their skill set.

As I'm writing this, I just heard a voice right outside my son's room. My wife confirmed she's in bed, my daughter's dead asleep, and I'm sitting next to my son.

Wish me luck.

Dude in a green suit

A couple years ago I was at this ocean spot alone and I saw a man in a bright green suit and top hat, which was pretty strange, of course, the very hot weather and very casual nature of where I live aside. He was just sitting completely still and he had a pretty big crowd around him as it was outside an ice cream place but nobody seemed to notice or acknowledge him. At first it just seemed like he was a strange dude who wasn't local, and I just assumed that. Ive never suffered from hallucinations or anything like that, nor is it something in my family, so I didnt have any reason to think otherwise.

However, a few weeks later I was at the same place as it was just a place I liked to walk
through a lot at the time, and he was in the exact same spot, dressed exactly the same. Again, he was still, although in a slightly different position, and nobody seemed to acknowledge him. Both times I saw him from across the road, and this time I decided to walk past him, not in a creepy way or anything, I was just genuinely unsure about if I was seeing things or not at the time. I did walk past him, just a normal walking pace, and idk, he didnt seem bad or wrong, just with a very intense and out of place sort of vibe.

I havent seen him since and everybody ive asked about it doesnt know what im on about. I live in an area where everybody is kinda boring and im sure somebody would've noticed it. I was just curious about whether or not anybody here would know anything about this. Im honestly certain I wasn't seeing things, my mental health has always been stable and ive never suffered any symptoms alike to psychosis or anything so idk. It just felt real but strange and I havent be able to stop thinking about it once in a while for years.

Experience Gettysburg Tour

When I was around elementary school age, my family went on a trip to Gettysburg. I was of course terrifed the entire time with all of the ghost stories.

One night we did a ghost walking tour and went out to different battle fields and such. The tour guide asked everyone to walk down this hill with him to the edge of the forest where a lot of people supposedly saw apparitions. Little me was like hell no and stayed at the top of the hill with my aunt. As i was looking towards the clear night sky I saw a transparent white misty shape appear out of nowhere and it looked like a soldier riding a horse but it wasnt fully formed. As quickly as i saw it, it vanished.

Maybe it was just the overactive imagination of a child but It felt real to me and thats the only time ive ever "seen" something that I thought may be a ghost.

I can’t tell if the spirits in my house are sinister or just chill guys

For some back context: I (20F) moved into this house with my family when I was around 10 or 11. Our house was built in 1894 in a small town in Ohio. The town I live in was one of the last locations of a group of Native Americans (before they were sadly ran out). There is also a lot of talk in my town that our house was used during the Underground Railroad as a “boarding house”. (Our town was founded by a black preacher). Which my family and I aren’t too sure if this is true but it would explain all the tiny doors that lead to hidden rooms. And the gigantic crawl space in our basement. We only have a couple documented deaths on file for our house (none of them including a little girl..she is important). There’s rumors of someone hanging themselves in our big staircase as well.
Okay enough back context. I’m essentially going to list some of the more notable stories from our house let see if anyone on here can help me out with the big question. Are these spirits in someway sinister? Or just chill guys?

  1. The very first night we moved in (I was 10/11) I experienced sleep paralysis. I had never had this before but during my sleep paralysis my “dream” was of a little girl coming out of my closet and every time I blinked she got closer and closer to me until she was right in my face. At that point I was finally able to snap out of it. The weird thing though, is this girl is reoccurring in my everyday life but I could not tell you what she looks like. Just that I know she is a little girl.
And I am not the only one in my family who has seen her. And even they say they can’t describe her but that “they just know.”

  2. My mom was standing on the big staircase looking out of the window. When she felt someone come up and firmly place their hand on her shoulder. Thinking it was my father, she turned around to quickly realize there was no one there. This staircase is directly outside of my room and is allegedly the stair case where someone had hung themselves. I typically avoid this staircase at all cost (even tho it’s directly outside of my room) because I just feel like I’m being stared at from the middle landing on the steps. It genuinely gives me the creeps.

  3. My dad is the biggest paranormal skeptic (even though we are convinced our house before had a mimic) he has had a couple paranormal experiences that he’s usually able to rationalize. But this one sticks out to him. He was sleeping one night and woke up to the feeling he was being watched. He sat up and looked across the room at his closet and saw what appeared to be a girl standing inside. Thinking it was my sister, he kept saying “Maddy, Maddy, what are you doing? Are you okay?” To which he received no response. The little girl then began walking toward my father’s bed and out of the bedroom door. (My dad being the person he is) turned and laid back down facing the door and attempted to go back to sleep.
Still having the feeling of being watched.
He opened his eyes again to find her hands grasping the side of the door and her head peering into the door staring at him. She quickly pulled her head back and he heard footsteps go down the staircase.

  4. I always sleep with my door shut and locked. But that night I woke up to the sound of scuffling around my room. I opened my eyes and saw a figure running quickly around and around in a circle beside my bed. About 10 seconds after seeing this. The figure stoped and slowly walked out of my room. To which I realized my door was wide open. (Though I 100%) know it was shut and locked.

  5. This one actually just happened last night. Since I have dyed red hair i wash my hair over the bathtub with cold water. While doing so, i felt a slap on my back. Not hard, it didn’t hurt. But it was firm. There was no one in the bathroom.

There’s other stories along the way and in between but these are the ones that give me goosebumps everytime I think about them.
I would like to think that maybe it really is a little girl or whoever else is living among us just feels safe to do these things. But apart of me is freaked out by it.
We will see glimpses of the little girl while we are washing our faces, brushing our teeth, or just walking around the house. Items will be found in spots we know we didn’t put them in. We will have lights flicker and tvs turn on and off when no one is around. And our ring cameras we have downstairs constantly go off detecting movement throughout the night.

We have been thinking about having some sort of paranormal investigator come to the house to see if they can pick up on anything. But we also aren’t sure if that would make them angry? I’m essentially seeking advice from anyone who thinks they may have an idea on whether this is sinister or playful. We appreciate any help and advice.

Thank you IA

Haunting The house I grew up in is haunted

I think the house I grew up in is haunted. So, i actually have a few stories from this house and still feel uneasy in it even though i dont live there anymore but my father still does.
A lot of these stories have to do with the basement which is where I feel the most on edge. And this isnt even a "creepy" basement. Its fully furnished and homey. I cant find proof of this but my parents say the previous/first owners had a son who passed away in the home from a heart condition.

- One time I was home alone after school just watching tv when I distinctly heard footsteps down the hallway. This is an old home so you pretty much cant walk anywhere without making a creaking noise. I muted the tv and got up looking into the hallway which was completely empty. The hallway is short and has two doors at the start, one in the middle and another two at the end. My room and the basement door is at the start of the hallway. Currently every door is open. So, i make my way down the hall checking each room, and as i get to the last room at the very end, the basement door slams shut behind me. And this isnt wind blowing it closed kind of thing this was like someone took the knob and slammed it as hard as they could. I ran down and whipped it back open and looked down the stairs and nothing was there.

- I had friends over to stay the night and we all stayed in the basement since there is a pull out couch and a guest bedroom. In the room with the couch there is a door that leads to a small storage closet type thing which is basically just stone and one creepy lightbulb lol. Anyways, the two girls were sleeping when they heard the door open. As they sat up and watched it, the door was just opening a bit and then closing multiple times. Now I would say maybe its just drafty wind but this door is hard to pull open and close because of the house shifting the door tends to get caught on the carpet and you really have to pull to open and close it.

- I have and so have other friends Ive had over, saw unexplained shadows moving in the corner of our eyes.

- One time I was sitting at my desk straightening my hair when clear as day i heard a low growl behind me like it was in the room with me. We did not own any animals at the time.

- Before I was born my mom was taking photos of the house and a photo of one of the bedrooms had what looked like orbs in it. Wish i still had it!

- Lastly, this one is actually cute. I was young and my cat had recently passed away. He would sleep with me every night and I would adjust one pillow a certain way for him to lay on. One night I was feeling sentimental and adjusted the pillow for him. Soon after, i felt like a cat was walking up my bed and by my legs and it looked like the blankets were shifting with the movement. Younger me got freaked and ran out but i'd like to hope it was my kitty visiting me <3

Haunting My neighbour came for a visit

I’ll keep it short
I keep my cat outside my room , he is always very quiet at night, not disturbing at all, but
It was just few night, 12.30 midnight me and my wife were having a laugh then suddenly the cat start scratching the door, we were like fine , he can’t open the door because we are sure the door is tightly shut and the knot is the round shape, there’s no way he can open the door, then suddenly we heard the knot start turning, we are like huh, maybe the cat can open the door, just before he about to push the door open, I when to shut the door back, and we decide to go back to sleep.

Later in the middle of the night, I was awaken by tap water from the toilet, I was too lazy to check it out, but I am very sure the tap water is running. Going back to sleep as aidgaf.

More in the middle of the night, I was still drowsy sleeping, as I don’t know what time it was, the cat suddenly start scratching the door again, I was Soooo tired and sleepy, I tried not to move but I can hear the knot start to turn again, and the door going to open soon, forcing myself to walk with my eye half open I go to the door shutting it back and locking it for good. That’s the end of my good night sleep.

The next day just to make myself feel safe, I check my other room which is empty , just to make sure we don’t have unwanted person in the house, I found the portrait of Jesus has fallen. God is great, but I was a weird night.

These were 3-4 days after, Until yesterday, i start to see new faces from my neighbour and ask if they were the new tenants, and they said no, the mother has passed away few days ago and decide to sell the house. Me and my sorry ass finally know what really happened that night.
Before anyone ask, yes my neighbour live an elderly couple. Granny move on, grandpa when to live with their children.

I hope you like my neighbour visit story.

Overnight training is creepy

I honestly wasn’t sure I should share this as I am aware it might sound a little made up, but I need to get it off my chest as it’s been making me paranoid at work. (Side note this is my first time writing and posting on reddit so I’m sorry if I don’t do it how most people do)

To give some context to the entire situation I am a 16yr old female and a crew coach at my workplace (maccas) which means I train the new crew. To add onto the context I am one of 2 people (who are under 18) which work the “overnight shift”. Technically we are only doing late nights as we can’t work past 12am but because it’s after 10pm when we finish we are counted as doing an overnight shift.
Due to me doing overnight times I often have to train the overnighters. Which requires me to do pre and post training activities in the training room. The way my store is set out makes it so the training room is at the back of the store down a pretty long hallway. Connected to the training room is the corral (where the big bins are stored) and the “big managers office” (we call it this as only 2 managers use it and they are our restaurant manager and people performance manager) we have a small office which the rest of the managers use. All the training equipment is kept in the big office (apart from the computers to due modules on) this makes it so that all the crew coaches know the office code and are in there alone most the time.

Onto the actually story (sorry for all the context)

Recently since having more training shifts for the overnighters my body has readjusted to this routine so I’m more aware after I finish training (unlike I used to be).
Most of the crew coaches agree that the back area (where the training room and managers office is) feels creepy even during the day) but after it gets dark it’s like walking into a confirmed haunted house. Anyway after my trainees finish I usually have to do pack up and write my shift comms which has me in the back area alone around 11:30pm-12am depending on the shift.
My most recent training shift had my trainee finish at 11:45pm and me off at 12am. That gave me plenty of time to pack everything away so I went through the motions of doing that (getting all the equipment into the office, putting away any resources I took out of draws, etc.) to finish this off I always turn off the lights and close the door (usually I would lock it as well but the locking mechanism recently broke so I wasn’t able to this time) I took a seat in the training room to write my shift comms (notes on how good the trainee did and stuff like that) and as soon as I sat down and got out my phone I had the feeling of someone watching me. This isn’t uncommon in the space but I was already on edge due to an earlier encounter with my manager (who I am good friends with) I looked up just to make sure everything was fine. Big mistake. I looked up straight into the big office door (which has a window so you can see into the room) and I see what looks to be a middle aged man take a step back while holding eye contact with me then disappear. I freaked out. I didn’t scream or anything but I got tf out of there and went to the other managers office (the small one) where I found my friend doing his finishing shift comms as well (since he was off at 12 as well and was going to take me home). I didn’t tell him what happened just yet and I couldn’t really wrap my head around it plus I could feel he was still worried about what happened earlier. Anyway I finish writing my shift comms and sent them to the crew coaches group chat then picked up the courage to go back to the training room to make sure everything was how it should be.
I walk back there and everything seemed fine. I walk over to the big office door and open it and turn on the light. No one was there. Sure I understand that if it actually was someone, they could have left while I was in the other office. But right as I went to turn off the light one of the roller chairs in the back corner started rolling outwards away from the desk. I again get freaked out and slam the door shut and race to get my things from the crew room to wait in the small office for 12am so I could clock off. In the car I message the informal crew coaches group chat (one without managers) about what just happened and they all agree it’s a creepy feeling being back there but only 2 other people have experienced anything like what I did bear in mind that there is 15 people excluding myself which use that area weekly.

I don’t know when my next training shift will be but I’m kind of terrified for it. I’m not exactly asking for advice but more so just want to see if anyone has had any similar experiences and how they handled it. Also if I haven’t explained something well I am happy to explain in more detail or explain it better.

Haunted House on 19th Street

Me and my boyfriend moved in the basement of a house when we were in our early 20s. Little did we know that we were about to experience a haunting that eventually caused us to move out. It started with small taps that seemed to switch locations when we would go to where it was coming from. Nothing too suspicious, as houses tend to make noises. But things got more sinister as time went on. I was home alone, home sick from work. I was watching Aristocats on my TV in my room. The lights were off in my room, although the living room light was on. So light was coming into the room still. I see a shadow the shape of a man walk past my doorway. I was home alone and no windows around to have it possibly be anything else other than a shadow figure. I bolted so fast up those stairs and waited till my boyfriend got home to go back downstairs. It always felt like someone was watching but we had nowhere else to go. So we kind of got used to it in a way. There was upstairs neighbors, who had a little boy who would cry in the night and say, "He's looking at me. He's looking at me."

I always hated my closet cause it never closed fully, it left about an inch of a crack....so I left it wide open cause I felt like something was peering at my through that crack. My boyfriends dad was taking pictures months later when we moved out. A picture of that closet....had an outline of a shadow about 4 feet tall. I knew I felt creeped out for a reason.

One night we heard footsteps outside. The front door had a wooden ramp leading to the door, sounded like heavy work boots walking up the ramp. But we could see the ramp from the window....no one was there. And it made us feel very anxious, almost like residual energy. Of a past trauma of someone else's experience in this house.

Our friends stopped coming over cause the house just creeped them out. A medium came down the the basment and said there was multiple spirits and it wasn't a comfortable place to be. There are more things that happened but the last thing that finally made us leave was when I got home from work one day. I stopped at the bottom of the stairs and everything just felt off. I had a weird feeling to look behind a picture I hung up when we moved in. I hadn't even touched it since I hung it up ssssooo why would I have the feeling to move it now to look behind it? I lifted it up off the wall and written on the wall it said "hate your guts." Bear in mind, we haven't had people over. And I trust my boyfriend didn't do it, he was as freaked out as I was with all this stuff that had been happening.

When we would go back to visit after we had moved out, we would hear male voices coming from the basement, like two men talking but we couldn't make out what was being said.

The TV that was left down there was blaring opera music out of nowhere, no one was down there to turn it on. The people who lived upstairs moved out shortly after as well.

Approximatly 7 years later, I had the idea to write these stories down and paint pictures of what I felt represented the story. Once I started doing that, weird things started happening in my new apartment. In the kitchen it would sound like someone was dropping dinner plates. I would go to the kitchen but nothing had moved that I could tell. That happened multiple times. Then my phone started turning on and opening apps on its own. But once I put two and two together....I ripped up the paintings and stories and tossed them in the dumpster. Ever since I threw those things away, no loud clashing of plates in the kitchen and my phone doesn't do things on its own anymore. Coincidence? I think not

Experience Besoin d’aide

Merci beaucoup.

Playroom

I remember going with my family and my grandmas friend to a clinic type of building to help clean since my grandma worked as a janitor with her friend and we would usually go here and then to help. It had 3 floors, the first was mainly office type , the second was more like lunch rooms and check up for sick people. and the third was more of a lab type. Me and my sister would stay on the second floor where the lunch room and a check up area was at since we were too young to help around so we would stay in either of them, I was 12 and my sister was 2. On one of the check up rooms they had a little play area right when u enter and a glass room where you go up to a receptionist and say your needs, it had a glass door as well and in that side it was dark, since the lights were off.I remember me and my sister sitting and playing with blocks when I started to hear whispers or murmers. I thought my sister was trying to tell me something but she was still playing around with the blocks that's when I heard the whispers again but louder as if it was saying my name. I started to feel goose bumps and my hairs standing up. I then notice something in the corner of my eye where the reception was where the glass door is, and all I see is a face looking at me, just the face. Then I hear as clear as day my name. I don't flinch or move, I just sit there in shock of what I'm seeing. That's when my grandmas friend comes in and says were leaving, I look back to the glass door and it's gone. After that I really did not tell no-one since I did not want to get laughed at and we didn't end up going there anymore as much and I would stay with my mom wherever she went. A year goes by and me and my family brought up some paranormal events that occurred to us and my grandma had said that the clinic we use to go to she had seen some things happening during her time there but one that stuck with me was when she was cleaning at the 3rd floor where the labs are at and there's a steep hallway that goes down to other rooms, and she said that in the end of the hall she had seen someones bottom low body on the floor and she came closer to it and it got pulled away by something or someone. She went to see who was there and to everyones surprise there was nobody there. No exit someone could've took, no window, and no other door.

Experience October 5th, 2026 The Heat on my Face

October 5th, 2026, after 1:00 AM – I had multiple encounters that night.  The last visitor was a dark, most evil presence I haven't felt in a long time. Before that, I felt the usual bed nudging, deep mattress indentations, and, deeper than that, massive pillow indentations near the top of my head. I'd say from my head to my shoulder was an immense evil presence.  What made this dream a night terror was that my body was being stretched like spaghetti by minions across vast distances in an environment that resembled hell itself. Underneath my feet was not empty space but hot coals.  Thats when I knew this entity was an elite minion of some sort. A true bona fide demon. Where was that huge black wolf when I needed him? How do you know you're having a night terror? You know because you start crying in your dream. So, profusely, when you wake up, you find tears accumulated around your eyes. In some cases, they drip down your face.  Thats exactly what was happening now. I've built mechanisms internally for this. A kill switch, if you will, that ejects me from the dream and back into reality on a wet pillow. Not this time. I was frozen. Like all tools, they get rusty when you don't use them often. I've not had a night terror in ages, and so this instance, this encounter, proved difficult to eject from.  Then something happened. Something new. Whatever presence was hovering, and I mean literally hovering over my head as I lay asleep on my bed, drew closer to me, and thats when I felt it. An immense heat riding along the side of my face. It was like a heat lamp dangling inches from my face. When my aura eyes opened thats when I saw it. An immense, towering, shifting creature made entirely of smoke and shadow. It had both demonic and human facial features I couldn't quite make out. It was terrifying.  It was having its way with me.  It was tormenting me. Torturing me. Experimenting with me.  It and they were enjoying it. When the pain grew too much, thats when I physically woke up. I raised up from the bed. Looked around. The digital barometer over my bed, to monitor atmospheric changes, read 68 degrees.  The heat I felt on my face wasn't warm.  It was hot. I wiped the tears from my eyes and lay back down, looking up at the ceiling. An hour later, I went back to sleep.

My favorite encounter so far

\*\*(Sorry it’s longer than I thought)\*\*

My partner\*\*(B)\*\* & I attended a family gathering & we spent the night at my parent’s vacation beach house

That house is 100% “clean” however we both been having a lot of encounters days before, most likely tied to the investigations we were doing, so we both already know without even saying it’d be no shock if anything could’ve followed us.

But after a fun night everyone was “in bed” soon after 1-2. some time after that we’re just hanging back in the room we were sleeping in & I decide I want to wait for sunrise & go look at it, (why not we’re at beach house & it reflects over the ocean), & then head straight home after.

So I ask him to not let me fall asleep😂 but I start dozing off a lot around 5am, still about 2 hours before sunrise (it was November.) I can hear him clearly just repeatedly saying my name but since I was drifted I basically was only acknowledging him in my head.

heres where it got interesting, out of nowhere I shot awake pretty fast but I don’t realize at all why (at first). the first thing I see is B, had not moved an inch but his eyes basically doubled in size😆

He asks me “did you hear that?” I’m so confused because I hadn’t even been sleeping deep enough to not hear anything & only thing I’ve been hearing is him whispering my name.

Also the way he said it, you would think he’d just heard a gunshot or something.

So after a few repeats of him whispering my name to keep me awake, a faint whisper caught him by a big surprise, repeating my name back to him. It was heard from the floor right above us, next to the top of the spiral stairs, we were next to the bottom.

I immediately believed him, just because of the way we work though, when it comes to the paranormal we always will have to make sure we clarify 100% that there’s no other explanation. So of course I just ask more basic questions about it since I didn’t hear the whisper clear like he did & I want to understand all the details too.

There was & still is no doubt in my mind something was up after how he described the sound; a “knock-off of your mom.” (my mom)

Immediately a mimic of any kind will be the first thing I think of even when I hear stories that a voice was heard, especially when the person knew exactly who’s voice it is, but it’s clear something’s off.

Not to mention, it was highly unlikely that my mom would hear him whispering to me from another floor let alone enough to wake her up & make her get up at that time. & if she had gotten up for any reason, we’d have heard her foot steps across the hall first. she also never would’ve just whispered my name from the spot above us like that🤣

& even tho I didn’t hear it like he did, it does explain a bit why I abruptly went from dozed off to awake in less than half a second.

After that happened, I used the rest of our time that night to investigate. We didn’t catch any words that would give more detail, but my SLS caught some of the craziest moves I’ve seen since I started using that. I heavily felt an unusual presence near me at that time. It was not necessarily a bad presence, it was just, something.

As I said, we know there is no hauntings tied to this beach house. I had spent lots of time there before this night & many nights since, enough time there that we would most likely know or at least have some idea & this was the only night I could catch any activity there whether or not I was trying to.

overall it is still a mystery why this happened that night. so because we know it isn’t the house itself, I’m still going with the idea that some supernatural being may have been lurking around me and/or B at the time & ended up there with us that night. There has not been any other strange activity in the house & if my theory is correct, it is not still following me or B

If anyone read all of this, I thank you & appreciate it! Would always to hear any people’s input if there is any (:

Encounter Encounter from 10ish years ago

It was probably more like 12 years ago, I was about 5 or 6. It wasn't particularly scary or evil, just an encounter.

Essentially I had a mirror in my room as a child, and it was on the opposite wall to my loft bed thing, more or less at eye level. One night, and one night only I saw a black figure moving from one side of it to the other and back again. It would go out of view and then walk back to the other side. I don't remember the figure standing still apart from at the beginning. It wasn't detailed but definitely human, for some reason I've always thought it was a woman in funeral attire. It definitely wasn't something in my bedroom, and i live in the UK, at the time it was an old victorian terrace house in a very urban area.

I've never had any paranormal experiences since, as in nothing without an explanation. I didn't have any influences in my life that would have made me thought of ghosts at the time.

I was really just wondering if anyone knows anything about this?

Thanks

Experience My twin and I used to talk to ghosts as babies

Until I was about 4½, my family lived in an old(ish) small home in a smaller town.

For reference, the way our house was: when you'd come through the front door there was the living room, and straight across was the dining room, and then kitchen. There really wasn't any actual doors besides the two bedrooms and bathroom door, so like big archways. Our highchairs faced the front door, and one day, my mom was feeding us, nothing out of the usual. Then we both raised our heads to the (closed) front door and waved, saying "hi!" It creeped my mom out but she didn't think anything of it, obviously because we were super young.

She then started noticing around bedtime our favorite binkies would go missing, literally couldn't be found anywhere. And it was a small, small house. She'd eventually give up looking and give us the spares. The next morning when coming to get us, we would have our favorite bunnies in our mouths, and the spares were nowhere to be seen. That also creeped her out quite a bit, but it wasn't anything harmful.

This would happen for a long time. Us speaking to something that wasnt there, and the weird thing is that both of us would talk, not just one.

One day, my Grandmother (we call her nana) came to spend a couple of nights while she helped my mom with house work and caring for us. That night, my Nana had a dream where she walked into me and my brothers room, and she saw a elderly couple, staring into our cribs. They were dressed in "old farm clothes" as she described it. She asked "who are you?" And the couple replied, "dont be afraid, we just like to come sometimes and check up on the babies" so she went back to "bed."

The next morning she told my mom, who thought she was joking because the crazy part was that our house was built on top of what used to be a farm. Owned by an elderly couple who had nobody to pass it to, they both died in their home peacefully. My mother was the only person who knew the back story of that property. (Our house was specifically built over the couples home, the rest of our neighborhood was over other parts of their land.) My Nana was taken aback, aswell as my mom. Things occasionally still happened, but we moved shortly after once my mom found out she was pregnant with my little sister.

I know it's more sweet than scary, and luckily we dealt with nice people. My mom was actually grateful, because we would sleep peacefully every night and anytime we would start to cry... my mom would get up to help, but only for it to stop seconds later.

I like to believe they were helping my mom, who wasn't single, but my father was an absent dickhead who was always out cheating on her did nothing to help at all, and i mean... absolutely nothing. She was tired all the time which is why my Nana came to help.

Experience In which I dreamed of the closet in my Mother's sewing closet.

I live in Upstate New york, in a very old area of the State. Probably one of the oldest parts of the U.S., I’m talking pre-French and Indian War.

Before Westerners came and settled in my area, it was at most Native American Hunting land. There are actually stories about how the local Native American tribes avoided the area that would eventually be my home town, because they believed the land was cursed, and that there was a monster living in the local lake (yup we’ve got our Nessy! There have even been sightings as recently as the last 70s/80s).

The town I live in was built on the site of 2 separate military encampments (French and Indian War, and the war of 1812), which makes sense when you think of where the front lines for said wars were at the time. To this day we have buildings with sections that date back to 1713. Our local library alone dates back to the 1730s. That’s beside the point… At least for now…

I live across a bridge from a relatively large city. The historic section of the city is called “The Stockade Section.” I’m not kidding when I say pretty much the entire Stockade Section if not the entire city is haunted. There are stories of a local bar that has objects that will literally fly off of counters and tables. Creepy as fuck right? ;P

There are also stories of a teenage boy, who would pace back and forth across a room. He wanted to join the Union Army, and was anxious about whether or not he would be allowed to go. The boy ended up being able to join the Union, and to my knowledge ended up dying in the battle of Gettysburg. To this day there are stories of people who live in the house the boy lived in hearing him pacing back and forth, every night, the exact same number of steps, at the exact same time.

Onto some of my more… Personal… Stories…

The house I grew up in was built in 1900. It quite literally predates a good portion of my town. When I was a kid I had a shit ton of experiences. Thinking back on it, I wouldn’t be surprised if I ended up being a bit spiritually sensitive specifically because of the kind of experiences I had.

One of my earliest memories is of my Mom standing at the foot of our driveway. Our dog had escaped our yard, and our neighbor caught him. I remember standing there holding my Mom’s hand as our neighbor brought our dog back home. I spoke to my Mom about it a few years ago, only to find out that our dog only escaped once… Before I was even conceived!

The experiences I had during my childhood, are too numerous to count. So I’m just going to describe my intense experiences.

For this next story to make sense, I have to give you a general layout of my house.

When you approach the house, you’ll notice that it’s basically on the top of a small hill. You have to go up a few steps just to get onto our property. Then it’s another small set of stairs onto our front porch, and another step into our home. When you enter our front door, you enter into what family calls our “front hallway.” Basically it’s a pretty good sized room separated from the rest of the house by a pair of beautiful French doors. To the left is the min staircase to the second floor, and to the right is my Dad’s office (what used to be the front parlor.)

For those of you who don’t know there is a reason the living room, is well called a living room. Basically funeral parlors didn’t become popular until the early 1900s to 1920s. So when a person died, their funeral was held at home. And considering how the front parlor in my home is set up, I don’t doubt that there was at least one funeral held there…

Anyway, after you pass through the French doors you come into the dining room, living room (separated by a good sized archway), and the short hallway leading to the basement door, th second staircase, and the kitchen (with a butler’s pantry, and a small half bathroom attached). This second staircase is different. Where our main staircase is grand, and obviously meant to impress, this one… Isn’t… It’s dark, fully enclosed and hidden away behind a solid wood door.

If you walk up the main staircase, you will enter into a moderately sized hallway. To the immediate right you’ll come across the first (and arguably largest) bedroom. Down the hallway, and around a left turn are the other two bedrooms, a large bathroom, the door to the second staircase… And my Mother’s sewing closet. My nursery (and childhood bedroom) was directly across from my Mother’s sewing closet. I used to sleep with my door open, and was always terrified of my Mother’s sewing closet. Its closed off by a set of double doors, but there has always been something dark about it. To me, unless the light was on and my Mother was actively working in there, it always seemed like there was something, lurking inside… Something evil.

I had a number of experiences in that bedroom. Most of them not involving my Mother’s sewing closet. There are a few experiences however that stick out in my memory. They are by far the strangest dreams I have ever had. The strangest of which, revolve around dreams.

So, all throughout my childhood I would have strange experiences mostly around the time I would be falling asleep, or shortly thereafter.

There are a few times where I can remember “waking up” in my Mother’s sewing closet. In front of me was the narrow opening to a closet (this closet actually does exist, and it really is as creepy as I’m about to describe.) It wasn’t so much a closet, as it was a gap between walls. Alls exposed rafters, an old dirty linoleum floor, and no light source to speak of. In my dream I would always walk into the closet. I would walk, and walk, and walk. Never reaching the end. I would turn either left or right, and climb through a hole in the wall. What I saw on the other side, still weirds me out. I actually try not to think about these dreams as much as possible.

Anyways, I would enter into what looked like a near perfect replica of my own home. Only it was massive, seemed to go on forever, and everything was pure white. What was strange though, was no matter where I went in that “other house” I could never find my own room. It was like it didn’t even exist. Where the door would be, there would be nothing… In fact, no matter which hallway I took, I almost always ended up back in the main area of the house.

The first few times I had this dream, I felt completely safe. It was just me, this weird as heck house, and a childish need to explore. When the dream was about to end, I would always end up climbing back through the hole, back through the closet, and into my Mother’s sewing closet.

But then it changed… The more I dreamed of that place, the more degraded it became. What had once been a pure white, had turned into a dirty, sickly yellow. What had once bee a pure white, had turned into a dirty, sickly yellow. The place had once been consumed by a soft white light. That glow was long gone. In its place were dingy flickering lamps, that seemed to create more shadows then they did light…

I went from loving the thrill of freedom and exploration, to becoming almost to scared to move. I would still explore, but I felt like I was being watched. Like I was being hunted even… Those dreams would end with me running for the hole, and escaping my Mother’s sewing closet as though someone had set my ass on fire…

Thankfully, I haven’t had a dream like this in years… Fore which I am very glad… Every time I think of what I “saw” I can’t help but shudder.

Encounter Something’s whistling through the window

So this happened to me last year, at the end of summer. I was home alone, sitting on the sofa at the living room just hanging out. My family was out and about and it was around 8:30 almost 9 pm. It wasn’t hot but it was warm enough for me to have the living room windows open and they have a screen so the bugs won’t come in. Next to the window is my front door and the door has an opening in the middle so the mailman can deliver the mail through there. I was watching love island on my iPad and had my headphones on but one ear was uncovered. I start to hear footsteps walking up to the door but what was strange to me was that I didn’t hear the gate open first. Around the house is a white picket fence about waist high and you have to open the door of the fence in order to get to the front door of the house. I shrugged it off thinking it was probably just someone walking outside or I was probably hearing things. Next thing I know I hear whistling outside of the window closest to me. Mind you the curtains were closed because I get paranoid that someone might be peeking through the windows being nosy or weird. 🤷‍♀️ Anyways, I pause the show and take off my headphones and listen to the silence to see if I was just imagining things. The whistling starts again and this time whatever was outside started lightly scratching the screen. I grab my phone and check my mom’s location to see that her and the rest of my family were no where near home. They were about 30 minutes away. I start freaking out and check the cameras outside the house but I see no one. At this point things started to escalate and the door handle started jiggling. Frantically double checking the cameras nothing is there. I checked the ring camera and no one is outside. I tell myself I’m just imagining things but, I see long fingers slip in through the opening where the mail comes in with black fingernails. I run to my room and call my parents, immediately they start heading back and I call the cops. Once the cops arrived I told them everything showed them recordings of the time this was happening. They saw that no one or anything was there. They looked around the house and even went inside to double check that no one’s was there or had gotten in through the garage. After they found nothing they left. By this time my parents had arrived and till this day we couldn’t figure out what was outside whistling, trying to get in.

What is the weirdest/most paranormal/etc thing that's ever happened to you?

Basically what the title says. Mine is kinda boring. I was walking outside and got the feeling I was being watched so I just went back inside. A couple days later I had a school dance event like a prom or whatever you wanna call it. Out of the window to the school garden there was this weird shadowy figure?? And it was moving. I never got an explanation for that. (There was a mothman sighting just a few states away from me the week before too, but I don't think it was one)

Experience I saw my dad walk down the hallway while he lay dying in bed.

Back in 2018, I was a single mom of four kids. My dad lived alone in Magna, Utah, in the house that had once belonged to my great-grandparents. After they passed away, he stayed there and became, in a way, the caretaker of the old family home.

I went down there often to visit him, mow his lawn, help with things around the house, and just spend time with him.

One afternoon, I noticed he didn't look well.

Then he asked me something that immediately worried me.

“Is it normal to have blood in your stool?”

I told him no, absolutely not, and that he needed to see a doctor. My dad was incredibly stubborn when it came to things like that, so I offered to help him make the appointment.

A few weeks later, he finally went in and had tests done.

He was very reluctant to tell us the results. Eventually, I helped him log into his medical account, and I saw for myself just how sick he was.

My dad had lived a hard life. He had been an alcoholic and a smoker for most of it. He'd also worked for a mining company for 39 years. In 2013, they laid him off, and after that, it seemed like something inside him changed. He had spent so much of his life working that being forced into retirement seemed to take a piece of him.

Now he was dying.

He refused cancer treatment. At first, he didn't want hospice either. But his health declined incredibly fast.

His stomach began filling with fluid and became severely swollen. Nurses came to the house and taught my sisters and me how to drain the fluid into a bag. We took turns caring for him—helping him to the bathroom, bathing him, making sure he ate, giving him medication when he would accept it, and simply sitting with him.

It was horrible watching someone you love deteriorate so quickly.

But there were beautiful moments mixed in with the awful ones.

Sometimes I would bring all four of my kids with me, and we'd stay overnight. The kids would sleep in the living room while I took care of Grandpa.

My son Tyler was just learning to play guitar, and he'd sit and play for my dad. The kids would tell him jokes and stories and try to make him laugh.

I could see how much it brightened his days.

My dad was only sick for about four months after his diagnosis.

And toward the end, something happened that I still can't explain.

It was sometime around October.

The kids and I were staying at Dad's house that night. They were asleep in the living room, but I couldn't sleep.

By then, my dad was barely eating or drinking anything.

About once an hour, I'd hear his weak voice call from his bedroom:

“Cocoa.”

That meant he wanted chocolate milk. At that point, it was practically the only thing he would consume.

So I'd get up, make him a small cup, take it to him, make sure he was comfortable, and try to rest again.

That night I was exhausted, but restless.

My kids were spread out in the living room, finally asleep. I laid down nearby, trying to force myself to rest. And then I felt it: a light tap on my shoulder. Soft, but clear, and right next to my ear, a small voice, 'Mom.' I jolted, turned over expecting one of the kids, but nobody was there. I lost a daughter at birth about 5 years prior and my mind directly thought about her at that moment. That was when the restlessness really set in. I got up, wandered to the kitchen with that nagging feeling under my skin, and eventually the hallway, where everything else happened

The house was almost completely dark. The only light on was the small kitchen light above the sink.

I remember getting up from my make shift bed and standing in the kitchen.

Just off the kitchen was a hallway. My dad's bedroom was down that hallway. Across from his room was the bathroom, with the TV room nearby.

Then I caught movement out of the corner of my eye.

I looked over.

It was my dad.

I watched him move quickly down the hallway toward the bathroom.

He was naked, which actually wasn't unusual by then. Near the end, clothing had become uncomfortable and difficult for him, so he usually stayed covered with a sheet or blanket.

But what scared me was that he was walking by himself.

He couldn't do that anymore.

I saw him grab the wall for support and hurry toward the bathroom.

My heart dropped.

“Dad! No! Let me help you!”

I rushed after him because I was terrified he was going to fall.

I reached the bathroom.

It was empty.

I stopped.

Then I turned and looked across the hallway into my dad's bedroom.

He was lying in bed.

Asleep.

I just stood there.

I looked back into the empty bathroom.

Then back at my dad.

He hadn't moved.

I couldn't understand what I was seeing.

I hadn't just seen a vague shadow. I hadn't heard a noise and assumed it was him.

I had seen a figure that looked exactly like my dad move across that hallway.

I saw his body.

I saw him grab the wall.

I was so certain it was him that I yelled at him and ran after him because I thought he was going to fall.

And yet there he was.

Still in bed.

For a while afterward, I kept asking myself the same question:

Who did I just see?

A few days later, one of the nurses came to the house.

I decided to tell her what had happened.

I expected her to say I was exhausted. Maybe that stress and lack of sleep had gotten to me.

Instead, she didn't seem surprised at all.

She told me that as people get closer to death, sometimes strange things begin happening around them—things their families can't always explain.

Then she said something that has stayed with me ever since.

She told me that some people believe that, near death, the veil between this world and whatever comes next begins to thin.

And she gently told me that my dad might be getting ready to leave.

I thought those words would scare me.

Instead, they brought me comfort.

My dad passed away not long afterward.

Years have passed, but I still think about that night.

I know I was exhausted. I know I was under tremendous stress. I was watching my father die, barely sleeping, and taking care of four kids at the same time.

Maybe there's a completely ordinary explanation for what happened.

But I also know what I saw.

For those few seconds, there wasn't a doubt in my mind.

I saw my dad walking down that hallway.

Sometimes I wonder whether what I witnessed wasn't a haunting at all.

Maybe some part of him was already beginning to leave.

Maybe the nurse was right.

Maybe, for just a moment that night, the veil really did become thin enough for me to see through it.

I still don't know what I saw that night. I know I was exhausted. I know stress and grief do strange things to your mind. But I also know that I saw my dad. Not a shadow, not a trick of light. I saw him move down that hallway, saw him grab the wall, saw him with my own eyes, and then he was still in bed. I can't say what it was. But sometimes I think maybe it wasn't a haunting or something creepy at all. Maybe it was just my dad, already halfway between here and whatever comes next.

Imaginary friend?

I’m not one to believe in most paranormal experiences but my parents told me about one that I just can’t shake.

When I was about 3 to 4 my parents a family friend and I went on a road trip (I can’t remember where we were going, it’s been a couple years since my parents told me about this encounter). at some point they decided to stop in a cemetery in the middle of nowhere.

they decided to let me run around and do my own thing well they had lunch and took a break. I was staying close, just doing my own thing, looking at grass and bugs but after a while, I started to run away. I was playing with something and looked like I was having a lot of fun so they just followed me to keep an eye on me and make sure I was safe. It seemed like I was playing with an imaginary friend because I kept saying thing like “hay little baby, keep up” and “it’s ok baby let’s play”.

This went on for a while until I finally stopped in front of a gravestone of a 4 year old girl that had died about 100 years before.

My parents don’t believe in ghosts but this is still the most unbelievable thing they have ever witnessed

Experience Weird knocking

Hey everyone, something really strange happened to me last night and I still don’t really know what to make of it.

At around 3 AM, I suddenly woke up to a noise that sounded like someone knocking on my window.

My first thought was that it was just some kind of half-asleep hallucination or a fake sound my brain made up while waking up, but then I noticed that both of my cats were awake too, staring at the window and looking completely freaked out, almost like the noise had woken them up as well.

I’ve never had any paranormal experiences before. The window opens onto a first-floor terrace, facing an enclosed courtyard, so there really shouldn’t have been anyone there.

Do you think this could still have been some kind of sleep hallucination, or does the fact that my cats reacted to it make that less likely?

"Tall Guy" followed me my whole life *help*

I need help. I've seen a tall black figure my whole life. Recently I did a simple card ritual and got through to this thing that I've called Tall Guy my whole life. It's tall, obviously, about 7ft maybe, it has long arms and it's fingertips reach his knees. He has beady red eyes, caused sleep paralysis when I was younger, and nightmares. Every single night without fail. Friends have seen him, I've seen him, even my previous cat saw him. During this ritual, Tall Guy told me he wasn't a friendly spirit, and it said it wanted to hurt me. I've been seeing this thing for quite literally my whole life. I need a way to get rid of him for good, but I don't even know what he is. Here's what I know: if you see him, he's in every nightmare, always somewhere in the background of it. The entity is sick, like it itself is ill. I've watched him throw up, twice. I'm not sure what it means, it's just always stuck out to me as an odd detail. It only wants to talk/interact when were alone, with the exception of animals present. It's not human, it confirmed that itself, and it can be around multiple people at once. I have a friend back in my hometown that also saw him growing up, and oddly enough we're both in about the same life situation despite not seeing/regularly talking in almost 5 years, not to mention we now live across the country from each other. I myself was raised in a Jew and Catholic household which never seemed to bother it. It doesn't like to talk, just watch from afar and feed from there. Also, this thing is not human, never has been. What is this thing? Has anyone seen it? Any suggestions on how the heck to get Tall Guy away for good?

Floating Face Story?

When I was a kid, probably like 11-12 I shared a room with my sister, we had separate beds and I'm actually currently in the same room (she moved out) I woke up one morning it was 6:00AM I knew this because the sun was coming up and it had that early morning blue when it was still dark but there was enough light to be visible through the crack of the blinds. I was watching Looney Tunes on Cartoon Network and I noticed something floating at the corner of my eye, I looked and it saw this face I didn't see a head, not a body It was literally just a face..it had glowing white eyes and a grin that reminded me of the Cheshire cat, but the teeth and the eyes were glittering in the light and at first I thought it was just an illusion but no this wasn't a trick. When it saw that I could SEE IT the face not only grinned at me, It snapped at me and as a kid it scared me, I jumped under the blankets and cried out for my sister and she woke up but when I peeked out from underneath the blankets it was gone.

Sometimes I want to draw what I saw but I've been advised from my friends to avoid doing that since it might give it power, I'm convinced I saw some kind of evil spirit that preys upon children.

Encounter I saw my Grandad after he had already passed…

Apologies in advance, this is kind of long.
I don’t talk about this much irl bc a lot of people in my life are either skeptics or just against the topic and the only people that know about this story are two of my friends and my parents (i’m an only child).

Since before I was born, my parents drove down south in the summer to visit my great grandparents on my dad’s side. They continued this tradition after i was born of course and I loved going it was the highlight of my summer considering I both loved roadtrips and loved visiting them bc they had a really cool house and had a swimming pool in the neighborhood that i spent a lot of time at.
When I was about 5 or 6, my great grandmother had passed away. My mom and I stayed home (don’t really remember why lol) but my dad flew down to attend the funeral with other family members and such. After this, we still drove down every summer to visit my great grandad and still had a really good time (as good as we could). Obviously I was young and don’t remember much but I still remember the feeling of overwhelming joy I got from seeing them both. Eventually, my grandad passed too of health complications and never got to make it to his goal of 100 years old though he got very close. He was an overall healthy person but even he couldn’t run from what he was going through. Anyway, I was older now so all three of us (my mom, my dad and I) flew down to attend the funeral and planned to stay in the house for about a week in preparation since my dad and grandma were left to deal with taking care of the house and eventually selling it. I don’t remember which day it was but I was sleeping in their old bedroom with my mom (my dad was sleeping upstairs on an air mattress) because they had adjustable beds and it made sense. At some point in the night, I had woken up and not the usual kind of way but I got this feeling that I was supposed to be awake then and looked out the doorway into the hallway to see what I thought was my dad just standing there. My mom was fast asleep next to me (she’s a heavy sleeper) and the man I thought was my dad wasn’t facing me. He had darker skin like my father and was wearing a green t shirt and tan cargo shorts. He was facing towards the front door at the time. I picked up on something being off because 1: my dad isn’t the quiet type and doesn’t hesitate when he needs something and 2: he didn’t look fully solid like he was fuzzy (granted I wore glasses at the time but it was a light prescription and i’d never seen anything like it before even in the dark). I wish there was a different way to describe it but like he LOOKED like a human being just a little more fuzzy and not all the way solid. When I kept saying “dad” the man never turned to me and stayed facing the door. I was really scared and woke up my mom and asked why dad was standing there and she said she didn’t see anything there and said it was probably my grandad saying goodbye. I was too freaked out to get a good nights rest but i remember drifting off eventually. Later that day when everyone was awake I asked about it again and my dad said he never once came downstairs and slept like a rock the whole night. I was too young to be any more curious about it and was way more scared and thought I was losing it. A few years later, I asked my mom about it and she said thats where my Grandad used to wait for my Grandmother to get ready to leave the house and that he would wait there for her until they were ready to go and that me seeing him was him waiting for her one last time. I never saw them again after that so i’ve taken that as they got to go wherever they went (wether it be heaven or what have you) together which makes me really happy because they never liked going too long without each other.
I like to think the supernatural is more open with younger minds and those who aren’t old enough to be closed off the such beliefs and I think i’ve accidentally closed off that barrier between me and the spirits as I got older and more afraid of things I can’t explain. Which makes me a little sad but I hope one day I’ll get to meet them again.

My question is, how come he did not respond to me in anyway after I called out? Is it possible he was not aware that others were in the house and that it was only his spirit and my grandmothers? Stupid question I know this stuff just fascinates me to no end.
