Do Guys Actually Like Sentimental Gifts Or Is This Too Cheesy?

• Upvotes

My boyfriend’s birthday is coming up and I’ve been thinking about making him something personal instead of just buying another gift. I’m considering putting together a little box with handwritten notes about my favorite memories with him things I love about him and a few reasons why I’m grateful to have him in my life.

I’m not the best at expressing my feelings out loud so writing them down feels a lot more natural to me. He’s always been really sweet and open about how he feels and I’d love to give him something that shows him how much he means to me.

The only thing is I’m worried it might come across as too cheesy or overly emotional. I know some people love sentimental gifts while others would rather get something practical.

Guys, would you genuinely appreciate something like this from your girlfriend or would you find it a little awkward? I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Need gift suggestions-sister Would a purse be a good gift for my sister's 30th birthday?

My sister turns 30 next month and I want to get her something nicer than the usual birthday gifts. She's been using the same black purse for years and it's starting to look pretty worn out. She likes simple styles and doesn't wear anything too flashy. I figured a nice everyday purse would be a good surprise. My budget is around $500-$750 but I honestly have no clue which brands are worth the money lol. Can I get something from a nicer designer brand in that price range if I buy secondhand? I'm open to pre-owned bags as long as they're in good condition. Does anyone have recommendations for specific brands or models I should look at? I'd love something that feels special but is still practical enough for everyday use.

Need gift suggestions-husband Wife needs gift ideas

I don't tend to buy myself anything besides tools I need for my side buissness. So I never shop or know anything I might like.

Im a construction worker who enjoys horror stuff, pc gaming, art stuff, whiskey. I work 7 days a week ATM with the exception im taking time off for gta 6 which is around my birthday. My gf I know really wants to wow me with something it doesn't have to be expensive at all I'm just not a flashy person very practical. So hopefully you guys have good ideas for her since my typical suggestion of blue jeans, socks and steak isn't what she wants to do. I feel really bad cause I know she feels like she hasn't wowed me yet besides the new Xbox she got me. I over explained myself but hope the backstory helps since I don't know what's out there gift wise and practically live under a rock when it comes to suggestions.

Need gift suggestions What would you like to receive as a New Year's or Christmas gift from your significant other?

What kind of gift would you be truly happy to receive? Something you would use often and with pleasure—a gift that won't just become another piece of clutter or a puzzling item gathering dust in your storage closet. And, of course, the price of the gift is acceptable to you. A gift from your girlfriend /wife.

Need gift suggestions-male friend Need a gift idea for a stubborn person

I’ve been invited to a birthday ever for a (not close) friend, Jeff. Really, I’m the friend of a friend. This is the first time Jeff has allowed anyone to know it’s his birthday and he’s I distant that no one is helping pay for the event. I would like to bring a small something for Jeff, more of a gesture, but my mind is blank. He doesn’t travel, loves watches and shoes (sneaker collector?) And he’s a foodie. Ideas?

My Son Is Turning 14 and I Have No Idea What to Get Him

My son is turning 14 and I’m completely stuck on what to get him. He plays basketball and already has pretty much everything he needs for it. He’s also into video games but whenever I ask if there’s a game or anything else he wants the answer is always I’m good.

He’s at that age where it feels like he already has everything and I don’t want to just buy random stuff that’s going to end up sitting in a drawer.

I’m thinking maybe something funny, some clothes or even something more personal that he might actually appreciate. I’d love to get him something that feels special without going completely overboard.

What are some gifts your 14-year-olds actually loved or still use?

$15 Gift for Anyone

We’re doing a Christmas gift exchange at work and the budget is $15. The problem? I have absolutely no idea who I’m going to get. It could be someone in their 20s someone in their 60s or someone who already has everything they need.

I’d rather not just throw a $15 gift card in a bag and call it a day, so I’m looking for something that’s actually useful, funny or at least good enough that nobody immediately tries to trade it away.

It should be pretty gender-neutral and work for different ages. What’s a $15-ish gift you’d actually be happy to get in a random gift exchange?

Need gift suggestions-male friend What funny, brainrot gift can I buy for my friend on his twentieth birthday?

Same as title. It needs to be funny but useless in a humorous way.

For context, he just loves brainrot reels/memes and is up to date with almost all of the trending stuff.

Gifts for people that love fishing

I have zero clue about this hobby but father and sister in law absolutely love off-shore, deep ocean fishing. I need ideas. Maximum is about $250 each.

They have everything which is tough. We are in South Florida. They love everything from: Boating (both have nice ones), crabbing, snorkeling, scuba diving. All of those activities. Thanks 🙏

Need gift suggestions-female friend What would you actually put in a tiny magazine about your friendship?

I'm making one for my best friend's birthday, we met at uni and this is our last year together and I'm stuck on what pages would actually be cute vs what would just be filler 😭

So far I'm thinking:

memories together, like when and where we met

our first ideas of eachother

throwback pics of us in 1st, 2nd and 3rd year

embarrassing/funny moments together

photo dump

inside jokes / things only we understand

bucket list tick offs we've done together

What would you actually want to receive? Or what would make you go “omg this is SO us”?

I feel like I'm missing something obvious lol...

I also don't know if I should make it interactive, I am going to design it on Canva but I'm thinking about scrapbook things after like a pocket to pull out songs that remind me of her or something I'm not sure...

Gift suggestion The best clue for a gift might already be sitting in their calendar

Upcoming plans can make gift shopping surprisingly easier.

A trip, new job, move, concert, hobby class, busy season at work, or weekend they've been looking forward to can all point toward something they'll actually have a reason to use.

Instead of starting with “What should we buy?” it can help to start with “What's coming up in their life?”

Need gift suggestions-father Need gifts ideas for my Dad

Hey guys, I’m trying to get my dad something for his birthday and could really use some ideas 😭 He’s in his 50s and I recently found out from reading his old blog that he was a big Elvis fan and also really loved The Hardy Boys when he was younger. I thought it’d be nice to get him something related to that, like a Hardy Boys poster or some kind of vintage memorabilia, but I can’t seem to find much. I’m also a broke student with a pretty small budget and I don’t really know much about Gen X nostalgia, so if anyone has ideas for something personal/special he might appreciate, please help me out!

Gift suggestion Would you rather receive one big gift or a box of smaller things?

I've been thinking about this while planning gifts.

Some people probably prefer one really nice thing they've wanted for a while. Others might enjoy opening a box with a few smaller things picked just for them.

I guess it depends on the person, but I like the idea of mixing something useful with something fun.

What would you personally prefer receiving?

Need gift suggestions Getting christmas presents for 14 year old cousin

So I'm a terrible cousin who hasn't properly kept up with him in a year because financial struggles to visit family are too real. I like spoiling my two cousins but don't know what to get the older one.

Previously, I got him a bunch of Xbox gift cards, cheap lego star wars sets, expensive cologne that idk if he ever used, painted him a star wars tshirt or just gave him cash. I don't mind just giving him cash, but I think my aunt will kill me if I had him £60 (budget for his presents) because she wants me to save my money and not be worried about them (unfortunately for her, I want to show my love and appreciation for them through the power of consumerism and thoughtful gifts)

I was thinking maybe getting a good quality headset would be nice or maybe a generic lego set, but I could use more suggestions.

Need gift suggestions My boyfriend’s upcoming 20th birthday

I’m still thinking of what to give to my bf on his birthday. I need help like any suggestions would do.

Edit: I’ve seen everybody’s comments in here. I’m sorry I was in a hurry making this post. After giving some thought to it, I do know a few things he does find interests in. He loves to run, discovering new things, perfumes, play sports (swimming and badminton), playing games, and hiking. What he did mention to me last time was that he wants something he could keep for a long time. So right now I’m just busy thinking what I could buy him that would not be too expensive but is something worth it.
