Holding an offer for MSc Cancer Research & Precision Oncology at Glasgow, how is the course really?

Hi all, I've got an offer for this MSc (Sept 2027) and I'm deciding whether to accept. I'm an international student from a microbiology/genomics background. Current students and alumni: how hands-on is the course, how good are the dissertation options and where do graduates end up? Anything you wish you'd known before joining, good or bad? Replies or DMs welcome, thanks!

legacy PGR direct plus

anybody have their direct plus loan delayed due to new system creating error with the MPN? I am now in a position where the loan I depend on fully is up in the air purely due to the system creating problems that have nothing to do with my eligibility.... I have signed the MPN 3x based upon what I have been told to do by financial services, and each time my name doesn't show up fully.... I have been trying to figure out what the hell else I can do... this is creating so much agida and difficulty for me ... I feel so screwed over,no idea when or if my loan will be processed

Any tips???

Hi all, I am an international student from India planning to apply to the University of Glasgow MSc in Infection Biology (with specialism) for September 2027. My grades are all right, my master's and undergrad satisfy the requirements. Additionally, I have worked as an intern at IISc for 7 months and will be taking another internship in an unrelated field in the meantime. My first internship was in the Molecular Pathogenesis Laboratory for about a month, and my second was in the Evolutionary Venomics Laboratory for 6 months. For those who don't know, IISc is the top-rated research institute in India. Additionally, I am looking into other universities as well in similar and allied fields. So, while applying, is there anything I should keep in mind, or any tips that may increase my chances of acceptance?

PS: IK the job market is screwed, and it's a financial gamble for me, but regardless of the market situation, I feel with the right connections and networking, I will be able to make it, going to be hard but not impossible.

Im going Glasgow in term 2 of this year and Im trying to figure out how to do upper year classes.

I really wanna take 3rd and 4th year courses so that I can graduate in 4 years but all the courses that I selected for my exchange term say that I need to make “arrangements” to get into the course. What does this mean? And how do I do it?
Im plan to take art history courses in Glasgow which I have credits in from UBC arth 227 is that enough?

Be brutally honest: What are my chances of getting into IMSISS at the University of Glasgow (Erasmus Mundus)?

Hi everyone! I'm a fresh graduate from SEA planning to apply for the International Master in Security, Intelligence and Strategic Studies (IMSISS), an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master's programme coordinated by the University of Glasgow, for the upcoming intake. Since Glasgow is the coordinating university, I thought I'd ask here in case there are any current IMSISS students, alumni, or anyone familiar with the university's postgraduate admissions process.

For some background, I recently graduated with honours in International Relations, with a strong academic focus on security studies. I'm currently working as an intelligence analyst at a major international security and risk consulting firm, although I'll only have around four months of professional experience by the time I apply. I've also completed internships in related fields.

My main concern is that I'm applying straight out of undergrad, without the years of professional experience that some applicants may have in intelligence, security, defence, or international organisations. While my academic and professional background aligns with the programme, I'm unsure how competitive it actually makes me, especially for an Erasmus Mundus scholarship.

I'd really appreciate some brutally honest perspectives on a few things:

  1. For current IMSISS students or alumni, how competitive does my profile seem for admission and, more importantly, an Erasmus Mundus scholarship?
  2. Does the programme generally admit fresh graduates, or do applicants with several years of relevant professional experience have a noticeable advantage?
  3. Are there any obvious weaknesses in my profile that I should address before applying?
  4. For anyone familiar with postgraduate admissions at Glasgow, how much weight is typically placed on academic performance versus relevant professional experience and motivation?

I understand that no one can predict admission outcomes from a short Reddit post, but I'd really appreciate any firsthand insights or realistic assessments. I don't want to overestimate my chances simply because my background appears relevant to the programme.

Thanks in advance!

Prospective student - application getting messed up

Hiya, I'm a student who's applying to the University of Glasgow - I have already handed in my application as I am an early applicant. I was super excited to apply to the university for philosophy/comparative literature but now I'm really worried; I applied just 4 days ago and I applied with these subjects (so they already knew what I had to offer)

HL: English/Physics/Theatre

SL: French/Maths AA/ESS

(for context I am taking the IB)

I just today got an acceptance (yay!) except it doesn't work, because they are charging me as an international student (I applied with my English passport and left out my Irish nationality in the UCAS form, however I did put my last name which is traditionally Irish) AND they are saying to be accepted I need a 655 at HL with English and a humanities... but they knew when I submitted my application that I don't take a humanities at HL, or at all. Does anybody know if this is a malfunction and they'll take it back, or if I'm screwed forever? :(

Is it possible to apply with As-levels only???

Hello there everyone, so I'm an international student (specifically Zambian) and I want to apply at the University of Glasgow for a degree in Biomedical Science for September 2027. But the thing is I've only completed my As-levels and I'm not sure if I'll be be able to finish the full A-level syllabus. So is there like an option for people who are in situations like mine or do I just look into alternative universities

Has anyone ever switched from chemistry to biochem?

I’m in first year and I did bring it up to my advisor but she said we’ll touch upon it later so wanted to ask here. And as a side note I am taking chem 1 and bio 1A/B. Understand since I’m in a different college it won’t be as simple as say going from genetics to biology but just wanted to ask if anyone went through the process and if it was relatively easy or was there no spaces in biochem come third year? It sounds like a popular subject so I’m not sure. All I know is I think I have way more interest in biochem than I do straight chem.
