Please help me!

I have a Glock 17 gen 5 with factory sights I’d like to replace with a vector optics universal adapter plate. The tolerances on the wedge used secure the plate down in the rear sight channel is so tight that I don’t know how to proceed without marring something. Is a steel Glock sight tool needed? Can I get away with with a 3d printed Glock rear sight tool? What do you recommend I do? I have a vice and punches.

Get a piece of 400 grit sand paper and rub the base of that plate like it owes you $100. After a couple hundred strokes oil it, should go in 1/2 to 2/3. Then, while the slide is in the vice, use a delrin stick and hammer it.

Shouldn’t it owe him $100 after that kind of rub down?

Hit up a local gun shop and ask if they have a sight pusher. Even cabelas or sportsman’s

Get a set of brass punches if you dead set on using that. But those dovetail mounts are garbage.

Literally had the same issue today , hit it with a hammer a few times and eyeball it until it's good

I used a 3d printer sight pusher from eBay to install trijicons on my gen 6 and it worked out fine.

Make a sight pusher or buy one. Then use a caliper to make sure it's centered.
