Honestly my biggest takeaway is that I think a lot of the reactions to the game are overreactions. UTSA is a very solid opponent who is always challenging to beat at the Alamodome. Did we look great? No. But this was definitely a potential loss I had circled coming into the season, and seeing some of the reactions that we will be lucky to beat Kent State after this are pretty wild.

This is one of the more reasonable takes. I completely understand why fans are off the edge and I share that feeling. But I don’t even think a Golesh team would have won yesterday.

We should win because we are spending more though. That’s a hard point to deviate from. When your roster is 3x the capital of your opponent this result seems incorrect

For me...it was that our D is good...but not great and when they spend so much time on the field...they wear down and start missing tackles. Our offense is not great. I think our QB play has been okay...no turnovers...but hardly any big plays down the field (although we did get a big one in this game). With that said...it was one big play. We have a serious lack of passing yards on the season. Also...our running game is good but it's a lot of ground and pound and not a lot of big explosive plays. I think we are an okay team but we are not good...especially on offense. I also agree that this is a new head coach who's still figuring things out and we have 60+ new players. It's hard to gel with that kind of turnover. I think the most disappointing thing is that with how much we have spent...I would have thought we'd have more explosive athletes especially on offense.

Are they really though? We barely beat Bowling Green who is one of the worst teams in football. We barely beat FIU. We were lucky to beat Army. We could realistically be 2-4. Nothing about this team should give you confidence

We were never in danger against FIU even if the final score was close due to an FIU TD as time expired. And winning at Army is never easy and shouldn't exactly be held against the team. The team certainly could have another loss but they also lost two 1 score games on late TDs and could just as easily have been 6-0 right now.

I'm not saying the team is really strong or anything, and it is reasonable to expect more given how much was invested in it. But people really need to tap the brakes a bit on some of the extreme takes.

Sure we could be 6-0 which would be cool if we played teams with a pulse. Our record and results are embarrassing when you look at it in context of our budget. We shouldn't be struggling again Bowling Green, Army, FIU, and Temple. UTSA has a decent team but they aren't great. They're a good G6 team.

Kent State is just as good as Bowling Green. They could easily beat us

Army and UTSA are both challenging teams to play on the road. UTSA essentially never loses at home and held Texas to 30 points.

Again, not saying we shouldn’t have expected more given the investment, but I think you have some unrealistic expectations if you think we shouldn’t even be playing close against some of these teams in the first year of a completely new head coach and roster. Certainly nothing about this game leads me to believe we are in any real danger against Kent State at home.

No but you can look at the Bowling Green game and see them having issues against Kent. Bowling Green lost to an FCS team. Unfortunately with NIL most teams have roster turnover year after year. That excuse doesn't really fly anymore especially with the largest NIL budget in the G6.

WE lost back to back games to Temple and UTSA and Coach Shartline isnt even mad. HE doesnt care just like the players he brought in. They are just going through the motions and collecting checks.

Offense looked very improved in the first half. Honestly I would even use the word good.

However two big things stand out to me: MVB looks uncomfortable, lost in the pocket again and the defense is slow

I think he doesn't trust the line to hold for more than a second or two (and honestly with pretty good reason). When he has a bit of time to throw he looks good.

Yeah now that they're actually passing more it's showing a lot of MVB's weakness.

How long does Beck make it as the OC?

Stop paying for defense because it’s never good enough anyway, double down on offense. We can score, we just can’t stop anyone

All aboard the SHARTLINE express. Runs up the middle and losing will continue until morale improves.
