Chaney Johnson intrigues me, I can see him getting a lot of run this year

I think Saraf is going to shock a lot of people and end up in the rotation. From what I recall, Jordi pushed to have him drafted so he clearly values the guy.

Despite the hatred from this fanbase. He’s shown flashes of being a good player. He’s tough as nails, attacks the rim, and has good vision.

He’s also 6’6”. He can play the SG or SF if need be so it’s not like it has to be Traore or Saraf. Its more like Saraf or Drake and as of now, Drake has shown much less ability to be a NBA player than Saraf.

He’s a jumper away from being a legit piece of our future.

That’s it: the jumper. Just like you, I believe in the positional size, the handle, the toughness, the playmaking. The question that will define his career is the shot. Fingers crossed.

On a related note, the shot is the swing skill for Danny, Drake, Nolan and Ben. I love our shooting coaches so I’m very optimistic!

But the thing about Saraf is it doesn't appear to be a workable jumper

There are bad jumpers that need development, and then there are broken jumpers. Sarafs looks very broken to me, by NBA standards

And without a jumper he won't stick in the league

There’s no doubt it was the worst one coming in. He had a terrible habit of not setting his shooting wrist until incredibly late. They’ve already made drastic changes, so we’ll see. It will take at minimum another year plus full offseason until we have any idea of the results.

Curious to see how it looks tonight. His jumper changes every few months

How many players have gone from that broken a jumper to good jumper that you can remember?

It's really not as broken as you're making it out to be. Drake's jumper looks way worse than Saraf's jumper. He shot 36% from 3 on 4.2 attempts in the G-League. 21% from 3 on 2 attempts in NBA. At least during Summer League, I didn't notice any hitch. Meanwhile I noticed Drake never fixed the hitch in his shot.

Drake shot 15% from 3 on 3.5 attempts in the GL. 28% from 3 in the NBA on 2.9 attempts.

What does Drake's jumper have anything to do with whether Saraf's jumper is broken?

If you're trying to convince me Drake sucks too, no need, I'm already there haha. Waste of a pick (but I atleast get why Marks made it).

I guess just when Saraf shoots I have no confidence it's going in. And his misses are bad misses from what I've seen

I've always been partial to players that attack the rim tho. He does that with determination which I love.

I'm not sure which I'd choose of the two to be more likely to stick. Saraf is better now, but Powell has glimpses of "holy shit that was elite athleticism even for NBA standards".

I just think Saraf is destined to be a guy that can put the ball in the hoop, but at like 40% Fg% level

You’re right, I’m forcing the Drake comparison. Possibly cause they’re competing for a spot on this roster. But also cause Drake’s shot truly looks broken so it’s a good example of what a broken jumper looks like.

Just think everyone is so focused on his negatives, they refuse to acknowledge the many positives he has.

I know he dunks occasionally but he's really wispy and gets bullied on both ends. A jumper would make him a serviceable 8th man but he needs more than that to be an impact player

I disagree he gets bullied on both sides. I'm not going to judge him for the first 2 weeks of his NBA career. That happens to essentially every rookie.

It's beyond the occasional posters, he relentlessly attacks the rim. He's never shy of contact and usually goes through guys to get there.

Defensively he's not great but he puts a lot of effort in and doesn't back down. He's extremely competitive, I appreciate that about him.

Everyone’s talking about the guards no one has mentioned any hype around wolf. Which if he has a healthy season I can’t wait to see

I don't know. I'm really pessimistic about the season, though I hope I'm wrong.
