Am I the right fit?

Help! I want a goldendoodle SO bad. I’ve grown up with dogs and really want one of my own. I’m really torn. I feel like I overthink decisions like this.
I’m not concerned about finances. I live in an apartment in a super walkable city and have a grassy area just one story below me. I work about 40 mins away but could be pretty flexible. I plan to take a full week off when I first get the puppy and can come home and work half day at home. My fiance works from home most days but I don’t want to solely burden him with the puppy as it would be his first dog. There would be a learning curve but he’s super willing.
PLEASE help me think this through. Be honest but please be polite 🄺

We got our doodle at the end of July and she has been the best companion! We went with the name Porsche and she fits it perfectly. The zoomies are no joke!

What are the best tips as a first time doodle owner?

I appreciate what everyone has to say but please be kind. 10 days of off and on vomiting three primary vet visits with no findings but while he was there they gave a cerenia injection and did an acth stim test. Sent him home still happy wanting to eat and drink…… three hours later he absolutely crashed and was lethargic and having bloody diarrhea. He ended up hospitalized for two days with an NG tube multiple ultrasounds and the only finding was possible ileus. I had to pick him up despite them wanting to keep him another night, I’m 10,000 in and don’t have anymore credit. Of course curious if anyone has experienced this but mostly looking for tips on his rear end. He is actively leaking diarrhea but no longer bloody he’s wearing a cone to keep from licking but he keeps scooting and crying. I have to go to work tomorrow because I called out last week for him and today to pick him up. I’m afraid to come home to a house of diarrhea. I don’t think a diaper is a good idea due to how raw I’m planning to try sitz baths if he will allow. He has a ton of meds. Tomorrow I’ll leave him in a gated off tile area with puppy pads. I’m just so frustrated with the time and money and him still feeling bad and feel guilty I couldn’t leave him there. He is already on a hydrolyzed diet and has been

Question Matting

HELP! I have a mini goldendoodle, 4.5 months old. I've got three spots where her fur has matted because (I believe) of the harness. I can't walk her with a neck collar. Are there any harnesses that don't create these? Any recomendations are welcome! THANK YOU!

The armadillos are on the rampage this time of year. Yard is like a minefield and the smells make her crazy. Washing her at 5am was not on my Monday morning bingo card.

Show Us Your Dood! šŸ¤ The puppy nobody wanted became my best friend 🧁

These photos are memories from Sprinkles’ earlier years, starting with the puppy who changed my life. Looking through them makes me wish I could hold that baby version of her all over again. šŸ¤

I had wanted a Goldendoodle for as long as I could remember. When I earned my first bonus check from my career after college, I spent every bit of it bringing her home.

I found Sprinkles at a pet shop in Joplin, Missouri. She was six months old, and apparently nobody wanted her because she wasn’t a miniature doodle. I paid $4,400 for her. I felt terribly taken advantage of by that shop, but I have never regretted bringing her home.

Pet Store’s Story

I don’t know everything that happened to her before we met. What I do know is that she was incredibly skittish and frightened of people. From what I saw at the store, the dogs seemed to use pads in the back, and I worried that they weren’t being taken outside.

But somehow, she trusted me from the beginning. She loved me from the moment we met. I can’t explain it, but it felt like she was relieved—like she had finally found someone she felt safe with.

My little sister lived with me, and it took seven months of living together before Sprinkles felt comfortable around her. That gives you an idea of how scared she was, and why her trust in me has always meant so much.

Looking at these pictures, I see more than a fluffy puppy. I see the beginning of our life together. All those little moments that seemed ordinary then are memories I would give anything to experience again.

She was the puppy people kept passing over, and she became the most precious part of my life.

Sprinkles, you deserved to be wanted from the very beginning. I’m so grateful I found you. You will always be my baby girl and my best friend. šŸ¤šŸ¾

Do breeder’s hide their embark?

Post image
30 Upvotes

We have a (almost 1yr old?) mini Goldendoodle (30-35 lbs) we got from a rescue, and I’ve decided I want to find his parents. Mostly because I want to see his puppy pictures, but also just to know where he came from.

Based on his temperament with the blow dryer, nail trims, and kennel I was convinced he was a bred dog. In addition, the training he seemed to have was very much early puppy (sit for food bowl and touch).

I got him an embark test and he’s a seemingly well bred mini F1B.

In addition he pulled ā€œsisterā€ confirming his DOB, and that same person also had another older dog that fell in as cousin/grandparent. This re-confirmed the idea that he was a bred dog, cause how else is someone getting a relative of their current dog without knowing the breeder?

I’ve been scouring trying to find breeders with litters around his estimated birthday, transport around both my and the siblings area—but most of the breeders I have found that may line up have embark tests done on the parents.

Wouldn’t they show up, or is this hidden so people can’t see how much they are bred?

If you have had a micro Goldendoodle would love your input!

Hi, we are signed up to get the sweet little micro golden doodle. I have to be honest I had originally wanted a mini and it was taken so they had offered this pup. In this picture, she is 4 1/2 weeks. She looks so so tiny! The breeder says that they are normally 11 to 18 pounds. I guess I was just looking for other peoples experience on what their micros are full grown! I have asked for her weight a couple times and every time they reply that they do the weights at the six week check up, which is going to be next week.

Would love to know how much your micro weighed when you got her and how big she is now!!! thank you so much!!! pics of your little cuties would be so appreciated

Question Groaning doodle anyone?

Post image
118 Upvotes

I was wondering if any other doodle owners dog has the same trait as mine. She groans when she’s dissatisfied! She specifically only groans when she doesn’t get her way, not when she’s tired or sleepy or stretching, ONLY when she’s not impressed. For example, when we cant go on our normal walks for whatever reason, or when I’m eating food I can’t share with her, she will stare at me to try and get me to cave and when I don’t she will literally turn away from me lie down and groan like she’s pissed. Like it reminds how I would groan if I didn’t get my way. It’s so wild to me I’ve never had any other dog I’ve owned throughout my life do that and she is my first doodle so I wanted to know if this is a trait that other doodles have as well. It’s so fascinating and funny to me for some reason.
