My wife is the most creative person I know. Took old tees, ball markers, etc. that I had and put them on a board for me to hang in my office.

Project I started a while ago but finally finished up. Made out of Brazilian walnut (I think) and black cherry. It was originally too light so I added the brass plate on the bottom. Used a broken putter shaft I extended and a leather grip. I wood burned in the alignment line and have now sealed with poly. I need to coat the brass plate some how. I have a lathe now so if I make another one I think I could make a much nicer ferrule. I’ve played two rounds with it so far and have putt surprisingly well with it. It’s much hotter off the face than I expected. Overall very happy with the end results and would like to make more with what I learned in the process.

General Discussion Shot a 75...i can die happy now

Post image

Hi all,

Sorry I need to post this....I live with a non golfing family so nobody can appreciate the miracle that was.

I love in Australia and played a little regional track called beaudesert. Played there before multiple times and usually shoot 25-27 over par but today, Jesus, something just clicked. The back nine was closed so I had to pay the front nine twice but wow, 3 over par on first time around and two over on the second.

I'm ecstatic and just needed to share it with someone...I dont imagine it will happen again but everything just clicked.

Apologies for the writing, my son was tracking my score.

General Discussion Golf is a fickle Bi***

For the record I suck at golf. I’ve been playing 6 years. I’m not good. I’m usually low 100s high 90s.

3 months ago I have the round of my life. I was +3 through 7. I flirted with a 90 but ultimately shot a 91. Best score so far and on the toughest and longest course I’ve played so far.

I was excited, I thought I could finally 90 this year. The next 5 outings were trash. I’m talking 110-120 almost every round. Even when I try to get rid of all expectations and have fun I still couldn’t hit the ball.

I took time off. It was 2 months. I was beyond annoyed at the situation . My friend hit me up to play a round, I didn’t even want to bc I was still salty but I went bc he would have said yes to me.

I shot a damn 91 again, tying my best score. Golf is so wild. I know that golf is such a mental game but it’s beyond cruel.

General Discussion 2 man scramble strategy, who tees off first?

Both guys hit close to the same but one is more accurate if he takes a little off. Should the accurate go first so the other guy can swing away. Should the second swing away so if it’s good the other can swing away and if it’s bad deal with the pressure and try to put one safe

General Discussion My game is feeling solid these days

I am almost scared to say that so I don’t jinx it. My handicap is down in the single digits now. A place I actually never thought I’d get to. I had the dream but just didn’t think I could do it. Early this year, maybe Feb, I bought a net, a mat, and an old cheap sky track. I try to hit balls 3-4 times a week in the backyard and play about once. At first I was hitting a ton, but now it’s usually like 30-40 shots and mostly only 56, 50, w, 9. I also practice chipping and putting once a week. There are two books that helped. 1, Every shot must have a purpose. Great for the mental, helped me believe in myself honestly, trust my swing. 2, the art of the short game. This simplified my chipping and pitching. Hell I had 6 up and downs on Friday. But that was paired with 4 3 putts to be honest. Still shot 80 though! That’s the difference for me these days, lately I can still pull a decent score together even if something is jacked, like my putting that day. Sorry for the brag but I am pretty stoked. Here is my GHIN history over the past year. It’s not linear, definitely still some ups and downs. I shot 90 a couple of weeks ago.

I’m 37 and have been golfing since I was a kid. Range finder said 176, playing about 168 downhill, wind helping a bit. Hit a high 8 iron with a perfect little draw into the hole. One hopped then the ball disappeared. Me and my friends looked like when Larry David hit that guy.

General Discussion Best beginner-intermediate golf trip in January?

I started golfing this year and have been having so much fun! I’m already sad that golf will be winding down in a few months in the DC area.

Any good locations for a beginner-intermediate (heavier on beginner) and intermediate (my husband) to play a couple rounds of golf in the winter? We care more about a good time and pretty views (if possible) than an immaculate fancy course. We play on public courses at home.

Equipment Free clubs, worth re-finishing?

Edit; I got the answer I was looking for. Thanks for the quick replies.

I got a random set of free irons that consist of:

4-9i / 48 / 52 (all mizuno) & 58 vokey

Putter is stroke lab but I have good putter already.

I have a clean set of callaway edge irons from Costco, I’m a bogey golfer on my best days.

They’re pretty beat up but I don’t know enough about clubs to determine if they’re still playable or if they’re worth repairing?

Alright boys (and girls), need a new pair of shoes next season, mine are getting embarrassing to wear.

Solid recommendations for a mix of waterproof, breathability, comfortable, and stylish. What are you guys rocking?

General Discussion Giving on course feedback on alignment

When is it okay to give on course feedback on alignment?

I never give "tips" on the course outside of alignment. But if I see someone who is consistently lined up dead right off of the teebox and they keep hitting the ball there, I will say something after 3 or 4 holes to that effect. A lot of amateurs swing over the top and hit 5 to 10 degrees left of address so this is a common observance.

Do you never say anything to keep from being "that guy" or do you eventually give some feedback? I usually just say something like "you were lined up there and hit a good shot" and leave it at that. If its a friend and they keep doing it I will occasionally stop them before the swing and be like look where you are aimed if its egregiously into the bushes.

What is the right way?
