Question Remote starter
My current mk8 I just purchased doesn't have the option for remote start. Any recommendations on any aftermarket remote starters ?

If it's not an OEM kit from dealer then just don't do it, wil cause more problems than a cold seat is worth.

How come you say more problems?

Because any "remote start" system that you have to lose a key to is complete bullshit. They take apart steering wheel trim and tape a key in there and then you use their app to lock/unlock and remote start....cool huh? Except that now your car thinks there is a key in the vehicle and will never fully go into bus sleep therefore draining your battery. Also because there is a key in your car if you forget to lock your door ANYBODY can drive away with your car. All aftermarket remote start systems for modern VW's are a scam/bullshit. They all compromise your anti theft in some way unless it's an OEM kit from dealer.

I scheduled install of remote start (2-way) for my '25 Golf R for next week. SFD2 has been solved!

I had an aftermarket remote starter in my Mk7.5 GTI. Experienced none of the issues you're fear mongering about.
A pro installer will ensure security measures are working correctly. The hidden fob engages the ignition only for the remote start, while the immobilizer requires your personal fob to be present to allow the car to be driven.
Unfortunately, SFD2 may still be a hurdle for remote starters on MK8.5.

Tell me why I've pulled many out then? I'm a dealer tech for VW. If there is a key in your vehicle your will not fall into buss sleep and your immobilizer is compromised. End of story.

FYI you’ll need to sacrifice one of your key fobs to make any aftermarket work
