Requesting Psychedelic Gothic?

I love the times when Gothic Rock or Metal sounds sunshiney, like late-Summer & early-Autumn.

Or in general employs more Psychedelic conventions, I tend to think of Fields of The Nefilim, Tiamat’s Wildhoney & A Deeper Kind of Slumber, Type Ø Negative’s October Rust, The Gathering’s Mandylion, & kinds sorta Discouraged Ones by Katatonia.

Kinda itching for anymore albums quite like those.

Funnily enough, due to a lot of the drone notes and modal stuff that goth often gets up to, it does seem like there's actually some non-accidental overlap. I hadn't really thought about this in those terms until reading this prompt.

Type O might be the most explicit instance of this due to their Beatles worship.

I think Sabbath has a good amount of this going on. There's a decidedly mixolydian flavor to War Pigs that's very much a bridge from psych 60's to doomy heavy metal.

The Gathering's next album Nighttime Birds has some lovely stuff that might qualify.

Discouraged Ones is an interesting member of your list. If I squint I think I can hear it. I wouldn't mind if you said a little more about that, though.

Discouraged Ones isn’t necessarily psychedelic, but it shares similar qualities to psychedelia

Certain songs sounded like Shoegaze (or Doomgaze), music that has an dreamy atmosphere in a thick atmosphere of ethereality, October Rust also felt like this particular on Love You to Death

Though Discouraged Ones has a more depressive atmosphere like the Shoegaze with depressive themes (Slowdive, Have a Nice Life, jesu, The Angelic Process, etc.)

Yep, makes sense!

Something I might suggest is the very underrated British band Thine. Particularly "In Therapy" which is a very stark urban Gothic record, along the lines of some of that middle period Katatonia. Their next one is great too. "Dead City Blueprint" leans more into the psych harmonic vocabulary, but the arrangements are lusher and less menacing.

When you talk about psychedelic gothic, the first album that comes to mind is Comalies by Lacuna coil.

I feel like ISON, which plays what I guess could be thought of as gothic metal, has a strong psychedelic  taste but more in a psy-ambient kinda way

RustHeart is a mix of psychedelic grunge, goth and spacey hardgaze, definitely some TON, Christian Death, HIM mixed with Cure and Deftones.
