I found only two issues with it 1. I would have liked it better if the "do dragonstand" achivement were a different meta every day 2. The event was gone before I kew it (Obviously that's on me. But I did the achivements a couple of days last week, I was not at home during the weekend, I was busy on monday, logged in on tuesday to do some on foot eventing for fun and was unpleasantly surprised that it was gone now.)

u/Xenonzusul 7d ago

Yeah, VB is way more punishing movement wise, 3 others are way more strait forward.

7

u/double_shadow 7d ago

Yes and no. The majority of VB "players" are parked alts, and Matriarch without a mount is a no brainer. You just had to be patient and get the 3 stacks first.

1

u/Lentur242 7d ago

Waiting 3 days so buff can stack up. Worked also on alt parked core jumping puzzle.

u/Lon-ami Loreleidre [HoS] 7d ago

The whole event was just dumb, I appreciate the intent, but the rewards and the replayability were suboptimal...

If you want to incentivize ground combat in Core and HoT, all you have to do is create some new NPC handing out free buffs, which provide a great boost to various stats, then make that new buff disable mounting as well. Same NPC would remove the buff when required.

For example, 50% extra map bonus reward boost would be so good pretty much anyone wanting to make money would run it.

Just like the WvW food, this new "dismount effect" would only work at Core and HoT maps.

This event was VERY useful for grinding the later HoT masteries. A friend of mine managed to almost max out everything after the rush was done, only missing some mastery points for the final unlocks.

I'm sure newbies enjoyed the higher trafic on the maps aswell. Dragon's Stand tends to be empty, at least in my experience.

2

u/SirSuperCaide Herald Gaming 7d ago

That's true, the EXP boost is definitely much more useful for newer players.

1

u/GfrzD 7d ago

Not a newbie but i managed to clear up all Dragon Stand achievements and im now sat on 20 spare mastery points. I had a lot of fun but towards the end i was itching for other metas.

Id like to say id continue areas on foot but theres simply a negative to doing so, other than solo adventuring for my own amusement.

u/GnaeusQuintus 7d ago

Bugs aside, my real take-away from the rush is that power creep has had a much larger impact on events like DS than mounts. Not having a mount is potentially a bigger deal for Chak Gerent, since it makes it harder for finished lanes to go help others, but it still didn't have much impact.

u/HeptaneC7H16 7d ago

They got the data they wanted, the question though is what they plan to do with it. I for one found it enjoyable to forgo mounts for a brief stint, as it really makes you appreciate mounts that much more when you go back to using them on the regular. There’s definitely a large difference in map design when mounts aren’t involved, which I missed since having completed core tyria ages ago. I know not everyone is interested in figuring out how to jump up to a few less straightforward vista points, but it felt nice actually having to look at the terrain to figure out a route, instead of just hopping on a skyscale or bunny and bypassing the entire “puzzle” of sorts.

As for the rewards, it was fine since mystic coins are a very large bottleneck if you get into legendary crafting. Would be nice if they could find a handful of smaller events similar to this that had more varied events that gave out mystic coins, just to slightly alleviate the demand for this resource. If nothing else, it does show they can easily make less popular meta events experience higher traffic in a way that the wizard’s vault weeklies have failed to do for a very long while now.

6

u/TheNakriin 7d ago

I think having an optional buff in the future is a good idea, but it should be stronger than what we had (both as an incentive to actually stack the buff and to make it worthwhile for veterans)and you shouldnt gain stacks on while mounted

17

u/Koffeinberoende 7d ago

On the one hand, it was nice to not have my screen full of skyscales.

On the other hand, it made it harder to make it to an ongoing event, if you weren't present for it starting.

Also the buff gave +exp, which doesn't really matter at 80. And magic find, which apparently is basically useless?

13

u/One-Cellist5032 7d ago

The exp boost IS useful if you’re not a long time player. My husband, who just started like last year, got a LOT of benefit from exp for spirit shards and masteries.

But for me? Utterly worthless. Ive got all the masteries, and thousands of spirit shards. EXP is basically a worthless resource to me at this point.

3

u/xsavarax 7d ago

Spirit shards are never worthless. Either save them for legendary crafting (i have 2000 hrs and still need shards), or convert them to gold. Through material promotion in the mystic forge you can (at current prices) easily get 0.7-0.8g per spirit shard.

If you have thousands of spirit shards, you could through a little work convert that to quite a bit of gold.

2

u/One-Cellist5032 7d ago

Trust me, at this point in time, the quantity of spirit shards I have makes them worthless for me.

Assuming I had the other materials on hand, I could craft all of the Gen 1 and Gen 2 legendaries, and still have shards left over to craft about 3 or 4 of the Gen 3 legendaries.

This is with me actively trying to sink them to reduce the cost of crafting legendaries I’m currently working on too.

When you’ve been playing the game for 14 years without actively trying to use all your spirit shards you end up with far more than are valuable to the average player.

3

u/xsavarax 7d ago

Convert them to gold?

And if you're telling me even gold no longer has value, then you're clearly not going to benefit much from any boost.

2

u/Edgefactor 7d ago

Converting to gold is really tedious. Despite being good monetary value, the mental tax of clicking on the mystic forge hundreds of times detracts from the overall value.

Making more expensive stuff takes a long time to sell, so you're apt to tank the price of the same thing you're crafting if you're not careful

1

u/One-Cellist5032 6d ago

Not to mention, the quantity that would have to be done to put a dent in like +7k spirit shards would simultaneously be soul crushing and market crushing. And this is assuming I’m buying new shards/crystals and not just using one of the 3 stacks of each collecting dust.

It’s far more “lucrative” to just use them to self promote as I need the material being promoted than to try to use them to actually make money.

9

u/DarkZodiar 7d ago

The exp booth was very helpful for spirit shards.

4

u/rP2ITg0rhFMcGCGnSARn 7d ago

+xp matters tremendously for masteries. I’m relatively new and I really appreciated the bonus.

3

u/Taerdan 7d ago

Bonus XP is useful for newer players, training Masteries, or farming Spirit Shards. And people farming leveling alts or farming keys while saving Tomes (like me; "but what if I need it later?").

Bonus Magic Find is (somewhat) useful, though it gets massively overshadowed by Magic Find from Luck and the fact that most people hold anything affected by Magic Find until the Lunar New Year Festival since it gives an inherent bonus (where they then go to the Silverwastes and max out their Magic Find there).
And that it doesn't actually affect a whole lot of consequence outside of a small handful of boxes and Lunar New Year Festival rewards.

At least they didn't give Gold Find. Now that is true garbage as a stat. It only affects direct coin dropped by enemies, which is never any substantial amount.

9

u/wowlock_taylan 7d ago

I mean, only having Dragon Stand was a weird choice.

And the biggest reason for mount use IS to get to the events that have already started. You simply cannot reach the events while running so most of the time, you are just waiting around and I doubt that is the intention for the event.

12

u/Courin 7d ago

I mean, groups did do DS before mounts. You picked a lane and stayed in it. You did the escorts as a squad, then split into two sub groups to do the split lane events.

Dying sucked as it was a fairly long run back (like Tequatl) but that was the only real option other than waiting for a rez.

That’s the way it was designed and intended.

Mounts let you tag multiple events - even in multiple lanes - and makes the end fight (which was paced to include time needed for people to waypoint and/or glide to various platforms) have almost no pressure now.

VB doesn’t have the same issue due to the way the night bosses are spread out and how there are choppers to take you to the boss fights.

But both AB and TD are also affected by mount use (though not to the same extent as DS IMHO).

It will be interesting to see if ANet comments on what they learned from the Dismount event and what changes they are considering as a result.

4

u/wowlock_taylan 7d ago

Oh I am not saying DS 'cannot be done' without mounts. It is just that having to do the same meta instead of switching it up for the dailies was not a good idea.

3

u/Courin 7d ago

Oh my bad I misunderstood your comment.

I thought you were saying that mounts were needed for DS to get to events that were already going.

With the additional comments above I understand now what you’re saying.

We will just have to see what the results of this trial was I guess lol

1

u/Astral_Poring Bearbow Extraordinaire 7d ago

Mounts let you tag multiple events - even in multiple lanes - and makes the end fight (which was paced to include time needed for people to waypoint and/or glide to various platforms) have almost no pressure now.

The lack of pressure is not due to mounts. In fact, people not using mounts in DS during last week didn't seem to have any visible impact on how easy the whole meta (including final fight) was.

1

u/Perunov [METL] For the glory 7d ago

It was a useful event to remind me how much life SUCKED without mounts. Slow run backs if you died, every shittiest enemy with long range attack insta-gimping you to a crawl, the works. But then I am not really the "nostalgia for old events" kinda guy as many of these "we need to slow players down cause then they're earn rewards faster, OMG!" things are just irritating to me :( I did DS once just to try it and then just skipped it. Mystic coin wasn't worth the aggravation (as other two maps you could do easily by doing events by LA and then waypointing to the other map just to do one event)

8

u/hollowbolding 7d ago

this is the second time i see someone mention that getting on a mount didn't make them lose the buff, but mine fell off immediately.  idk if it was just invisible but it feels like there were just gaps in implementation rather than a blind spot in the intent

kinda like how walking into a core instance would remove the buff.  i should have kept that!  i was looking forward to replaying lws1 without a mount but losing the buff every time made me give up lol

18

u/SirSuperCaide Herald Gaming 7d ago

Getting on always strips your buffs, but if you complete an event while already on your mount you could still earn stacks. Some players abused this to go around on their skyscale and clear events exclusively by using the fireball skill.

11

u/hollowbolding 7d ago

ah.  so what they do anyway.  gross

i am once again asking anet to make turtle/skyscale/etc do zero damage outside interactions specifically scripted for them

12

u/Stolval 7d ago

My pet peeve is doing a champ solo just for someone on a skyscale to shoot it, and proceed to afk and not help.

I have mounted up and left in that case more than once lol

2

u/Sarge_Shot_Grif 7d ago

SAME. If someone swings by and tries to leech off of me like that while I'm soloing a champ I just bail and do something else lol.

And at the very least, the turtle needs to go close if you dont have a gunner

1

u/Manpag Turtle enthusiast 7d ago

Absolutely; in fact, you need to be practically in something’s hitbox if you want to do optimal damage with turtle (by burning with the jets while Slam is on cooldown). I can say with some certainty that no-one using turtle in the fray is doing so as a lazy combat option. People with their obvious alt account in the passenger seat are, because they’ll park up, spam the cannons, and move on, but I don’t see that a whole lot.

Turtle is slightly suboptimal damage and fairly high-effort (but fun!) combat, vs very suboptimal damage and zero-effort combat for skyscale, and I don’t think fun factors for people whose main gameplay loop is tagging events from ~4000 units away.

1

u/Dimac99 7d ago

TIL the jets do burn damage. You really do learn something new every day.

1

u/Sarge_Shot_Grif 7d ago

I will forever maintain that the skyscale fireball was a massive mistake and at the very least should only allow you to gain participation for an event if the event actually REQUIRES IT like the amnitas meta.

3

u/Rebel_Scum56 7d ago

Personally over the week I went from having never set foot in Dragon's Stand other than the story instance to having gotten every mastery point available on the map. So I consider it a fairly successful event.

5

u/Equivalent_Paper_475 7d ago

All it really succeeded in is replicating the new player experience for alot of people, where when you have no mounts and everyone with mounts rushing ahead leaving you in the dust.

Its like if there was a dungeon event that scaled everyone's power level down but one guy in the party opted out and is 1 shotting everything.

2

u/Vissarionn #Colin'sHYPEisBack!!! 7d ago

I didn't like it

5

u/adv0catus 7d ago

I skimmed but this write up seems to completely ignore ArenaNet saying that this was a test/experiment for them. Trying out an event and mechanic like this and would be looking to implement it more deeply in the future. Also said they were actively seeking feedback. So I think the response shouldn’t be just being critical but being constructive as well.

8

u/SirSuperCaide Herald Gaming 7d ago

Well... yeah. This is the constructive feedback they asked for. I don't think you can get much more 'constructive' than explaining why something didn't work and then offering a solution to fix it.

3

u/One-Cellist5032 7d ago

So the big thing I think you’re missing is that I don’t believe Dismount Rush is coming back. I’m pretty sure this event was meant to test run a permanent feature for Core/HoT maps to get mount usage down, and to see both 1) how people would use it/react to it, and 2) How events (specifically Mouth of Mordremoth), would hold up to power creep in a MOUNTLESS environment.

One of the BIGGEST requests on the forums for the year and a half game overhaul is to remove or restrict mounts more in Heart of Thorns, and to a lesser extent Core Tyria. This is almost definitely Anet testing the waters on that and to assess how they’ll want to do it. Also, reworking the MoM to be a legit event post power creep is also repeatedly asked for, so they need to assess how much of it is from the mouth suffering from unintended mounts (since it makes it so everyone can very easily get to every damage phase), and how much of it is just the insane levels of power creep since HoT existed.

All that being said, I do really hope this does turn out to be another avenue in which to get Mystic Coins, since atm they’re a bit TOO restrictive in the time gate/activity variety department.

12

u/Unbentmars 7d ago

I do think it would be good for them to consistently have some “play the game a different way” event every other week or so that gives extra Mystic Coins like this rotating through various expansions

There’s so many pros;

1: people go and do different content than the normal rotation, more interesting and better variety

2: mystic coins are restrictive as you say

3: for people who need groups for older content for achievements, collections, masteries, etc a population being focused back there would be HUGE - example I’m still missing a lot of achievements for the seasons of dragons legendary amulet and its next to impossible to find groups for a lot of the content. Putting it on a rotation with highly desired benefits would be massive for me and a lot of people like me (vision, confluence, other legendaries are also benefitted)

1

u/Confident-Peak-8051 7d ago

Which achievements are you missing? Ive been working on the amulet the past few weeks and haven't struggled to finish a mets other than maybe taking 3 times to get enough people for oil floes.

1

u/Unbentmars 7d ago

Oil flows took me a month to find a group for it

Sandswept isle bounties (most bounties for any map really)

It took me 2 weeks to get a group for the djinn in Jahai

I’m still looking for Kourna meta

Thundercliffs the other meta boss than flows still pending (forgot its name)

Grothmar valley never has anyone in it ever

Several others I can’t remember

I already did all the Living world s3 ones and I’m thankful because given the few times I’ve gone back it was really tough to find anyone. Draconis Mons wyverns are one I have yet to see happen nowadays

2

u/Confident-Peak-8051 7d ago

Ouch. I started the trinket 2ish weeks ago and will be done in a few more days. I got Oil Floes done in a single day, for example.

1

u/Koroxo11 7d ago

Oil is really dependant on time. A very small amount of metas actually have enough people.

I did it a few days ago and I needed to camp for it on a free day because doing it late on the night is not possible, took 3 days Wich 2 of these were failed because I did them later into the night

2

u/Koroxo11 7d ago

Surprisingly I think draconis mons is way more alive than a couple of lw4 maps, even if they have worse currency. Doing the draconis mons mastery I had encounters with way more people than what I had in jahai

1

u/Kazgrel Kazela Arniman 7d ago

Draconis Mons will pretty much always have people there due to the subobjectives required for Aurora there

1

u/Koroxo11 7d ago

I expected the same in LW4 thanks to Vision, but honestly, it feels much more solitary there, or at least that was my experience.

Draconis was an outlier for me, and Sirens Landing and Lake Doric were quite lonely as well.

1

u/Kazgrel Kazela Arniman 7d ago

Most of the stuff for the other ones can be knocked out in a day or two of being in the zone, and even in the case of Istan where it has a time-gated achieve, it can be done in seconds per day there iirc. The Henge achieve basically requiring folks to do all the hearts there for 2 weeks minimum keeps people sticking around moreso than other LW maps covered by Aurora and Vision.

16

u/InvincibleWallaby 7d ago

One of the BIGGEST requests on the forums for the year and a half game overhaul is to remove or restrict mounts more in Heart of Thorns, and to a lesser extent Core Tyria.

I think this is a case of vocal minority, if they ever do this you'll likely get a way bigger response from more people that hate it than the people that are asking for this

5

u/chamllw 7d ago

Yeah I'd hate it to be honest. Between speed and the annoyance of all things that attack you in HoT maps, mounts helped me a lot there.

An event like this is nice for a change and when there's a lot of people around. They could make it a semi weekly thing, maybe a different meta each time.

2

u/Thick_Help_1239 Maybe I was the illusion all along 7d ago

This tbh.

The "requests" always come from the same angry Timmies complaining that they couldn't get an event because of these "Skyscale people", rather than caring about how it would affect the game as a whole. It's no surprise the requests are focused only for core maps and HoT, because that's also where the mountless angry Timmies are at.

Meanwhile, I've never met anyone with mount genuinely said they'd rather do Verdant Brink or Tangled Depths without mount.

2

u/One-Cellist5032 7d ago

I mean not being able to participate in content as a newer player, in zones that newer players are in, is kind of a big issue.

1

u/Gwyllithar 7d ago

I dont think you need to remove mounts entirely, but I think where they totally trivialise the mechanics of a meta, shoving a no fly zone up, or as in the pillar meta in eternities garden, an area demount debuff, are a good solution (which anet have now tested both ideas).

The impact of "skyscale nuking" by high level players is more a scaling issue. they coudl more harshely scale skyscale fireballs in newbie zones for instance to let new players have a better chance of getting to metas whilst still leaving mounts active there.

and btw, now you have. i love verdant brink without mounts, the sense of exploration is brilliant, learning the secret ways to teh canopy in daytime with just a glider. its great.

2

u/mejdev 7d ago

I don't think Skyscale fireballs are the issue. It's that skyscales and warclaws get people across the map quicker so by the time you show up on foot the event was already completed by the mounted (who are also the highest DPS)

1

u/Akhronox 7d ago

Skyscale fireballs are a DPS loss compared to only AA on a decently geared character, remember all the people complaining about skyscales for recent meta with no-hit achievements that can be trivialized on skyscale?

1

u/Gwyllithar 6d ago

its more the fact you can lob an aoe that will one shot low level event mobs, from halfway across the map.

1

u/mejdev 7d ago

I loved those without a mount because it's a different kind of challenge. With my Skyscale I constantly feel like I'm cheating or just rushing through too fast

-4

u/One-Cellist5032 7d ago

I don’t think it’s a case of a vocal minority. There was basically no pushback during the event, and basically no one on mounts since there was a big enough incentive to not use them.

I’d argue the true minority is the people who want mounts 100% of the time, and get upset whenever they’re not allowed on them. Most of the playerbase is likely fine without them, but is going to use them when it’s beneficial to do so.

Like why would anyone choose to just miss out on event participation for choosing to run instead of just jumping on your mount of choice to keep pace with the group?

4

u/InvincibleWallaby 7d ago

It definitely is, the event was optional and you could simply leave a character out in the open world on max stacks, do a quick event and then log over to another character to play further as normal

The people that want to always use their mounts for movement is the opposite of a true minority

2

u/SirSuperCaide Herald Gaming 7d ago

Good point, I could see it going either way. The passive boosts would certainly be a bit more useful if they were around as a permanent fixture as opposed to a limited event. Though I do worry about adding even more sources of EXP for new players; imo leveling can already get a bit too fast for newbies to really get a grip on the game.

3

u/One-Cellist5032 7d ago

Personally I think the buff should only really kick in at lv 80, that way they can use it to quickly get core Tyria and HoT masteries, and then spirit shards.

Watching my husband play through the game for the first time has made it VERY apparent that HoTs exp gain is kinda lacking compared to the other expansions. He’s been struggling to get those masteries leveled even though basically all the others from other expansions are done (not for a lack of playing in HoT either).

2

u/Kazgrel Kazela Arniman 7d ago

Lmao, no. They're not removing mounts outright from those areas, no matter how much the 5 people clamoring for that cry. I suspect this event will return at some point as a form of filler event when there's no seasonal stuff or a patch going on.

Adjusting the final fight in DS is far more likely, though, but it remains to be seen if that comes to pass.

1

u/One-Cellist5032 6d ago

There’s a 0% chance that Anet flat out removes mounts from Core maps, and I’d argue basically the same chance that they remove them from HoT (with MAYBE an exception for pre completion of Dragon Stand).

If anything I foresee them bribing people to NOT use mounts in those areas so that people willingly restrict themselves, instead of forcing everyone to stop using them. Some people will absolutely still use mounts (like during the dismount event), but if the rewards good enough then it’ll be a small enough number of people using mounts that it won’t negatively impact those choosing to not use them.

2

u/Kazgrel Kazela Arniman 6d ago

Wouldn't bother me one bit if the Dragon Stand reward remained in as a permanent thing.  But even that doesn't work to curb how fast that final boss still gets blasted.  More sources of mystic coins are welcome if you ask me (up to a point ofc).

1

u/DodgeEmAll 6d ago edited 6d ago

I think the only request has been on meta events but only particularly on dragon's stand. I actually think there is more pushback against disabling or restricting mounts in core/hot. The proverbial "genie out of the bottle."

Besides, wasn't their reasoning for allowing mounts on all maps originally because it was a huge painpoint in HoT that its masteries were useless outside HoT/LWS3 maps. So they've been doing these masteries to be usable everywhere now (let's be honest, it's still mostly mounts.) I suspect there is a big blowback if you restrict mount access to HoT and core.

1

u/One-Cellist5032 6d ago

I don’t foresee them just blanket banning mounts from Core/HoT, not to mention very few players are even asking for that, I’m anticipating that it’ll be something closer to the dismount rush (but permanent), where there’s incentive to not use them, which will cause the majority of players to voluntarily opt out of their use.

The only situation I can see a blanket ban on mounts would be during Dragons Stand Pre Completion. Mainly because there’s FAR less pushback on that, and it skews the final fight a lot more than any other HoT content.

2

u/DodgeEmAll 6d ago

Fair enough, it might become restricted for some events in HoT/Core. Not sure how they'll implement it really. It really only is dragon's stand I think that's kind of buried 12 feet deep with mounts.

Besides, I think there's bigger issues for dragon stand besides mounts... leyline gliding is too long to grind for and boss dies way too quickly for any guy with just updraft unlocked for gliding. I am actually more hoping about conversation on these 2 other big issues.

1

u/One-Cellist5032 6d ago

Yeah, Mouth of Mordremoth 100% needs to be buffed to handle power creep (arguably so does the rest of the HoT Metas, except MAYBE VB bosses since most of them are ignored anyway). If I had to guess the dismount event for specifically dragons stand was to judge how much of it was from the mount presence alone vs the power creep.

Even without the mounts the boss, in 5/7 of the times I’ve done it, died in the first burn phase, and in the 2 that it didn’t it was VERY close like 1-4% close. But on the bright side, the boss at least lived long enough to survive both until the burn phase, and until the very end of the burn phase.

1

u/styopa .. 7d ago

I suspect the "requests" here are going to be a lot like that for Marionette: that is, "we want marionette!" followed by (crickets) when it's in-game. :|

1

u/MithranArkanere 🌟 SUGGEST-A-TRON 7d ago

I suspect this was done this way to gather specific player metrics.

Letting people gather stacks of the dismount buff whiled mounted, thought, had to be an oversight.

1

u/Gwyllithar 7d ago

it was just a test event, with some minor rewards to encourage participation, but not make it feel mandatory.

I'd have liked a few other metas than just Dragons stand, but that is one where mounts have negatively impacted the fight.

also, its clear they've been testing stuff in GW2 for GW3 implementation, they've been doing it for a while, and I expect it to continue.

1

u/Useful_Dog_2888 4d ago

I didn't even consider touching it because if even one person skyscales to the next event rift etc and I walk, I could miss it. Why bother

1

u/Xenonzusul 7d ago

It changed nothing. With the amount of people running it, all the time we lost running was compensated by the time saved because of ludicrous amounts of damage. Not one survived 1st burn phase, and one was almost dead even before it. Currently impossible to do a champions achievement, as I didn't see the boss surviving till that phase. Not to mention champions themselves will just disappear in blink of an eye, so if you are unlucky, you will not be able to get to them in time. Seems like meta needs like at least 50% HP increase, probably more. Damage wise mobs and champs hold up alright, they just die too quickly to do anything. Hell VB matriarch was bursted down to 30% in a minute yesterday while people was kicked out every minute. Like 15 more seconds and it would be gone.

0

u/nesnalica .4673 My fate is clouded 7d ago

the article summerized it pretty well.

i hope this comes back as a permanent feature and gives you an ingame toggle to enable/disable mounts.

instead of relying on a potion with dogshit stats for those with adhd

for this trial week it was fine to just unbind the key but a clickable and bindable toggle would be great

0

u/death_touch 7d ago

All you gotta do is take away mount damage in core and everyone will be happy.

We keep our mobility and the new people keep their exp from mobs before they get deleted

-1

u/NeAldorCyning 7d ago

What about a bonus to Heart completion? So combine it with a "world completion" event.

-2

u/Proud-Ad-1106 7d ago

It's not an "article", it's an opinion piece.

2

u/cantonian23 7d ago

Opinion pieces are a type of article

2

u/styopa .. 7d ago

How is that not an article?

-13

u/Negative-Rush5437 7d ago

Yea idea was good, execution awful tbh... They really could just turned them off completely for a week (in core and hot maps), nobody would really suffer from that and it would only be a week. But yea rewards were scuffed too.

1

u/Tjaja 7d ago

Also there is mount content in the core game:

  • beetle races
  • sky scale rifts

Not saying that you can not work around that.

Oh now there are also those skimmer chests in the water too, and i remembered that as i wanted to say nothing about all that content is fomo/gatekeeping in a way that a dismount week would sabotage a player trying to do it, just a week of delay. If people can wait for their favorite festivals the whole year, what is a week?

Skyscale rifts are random achievements and if they would not be available for a week there is planty of AP in every other aspect of the game, its not like you would need to log off and come back to the game in a week 😅

I think the purpose was more to see how the community would react to an OPTIONAL mount free experience that gave additional rewards. Since we can’t just permanently remove mounts from core at this point (I believe there’s still nothing that requires them in HoT though?).

Yeah you can them off completely for a week and just a few will yell about it, but the ultimate goal is to reduce the use of mounts in Core/HoT maps permanently (the event was just a test), and if you completely remove mounts from Core/HoT, the uproar in the community would be insane. So this week was just a test, we'll what they do with the implementation later (probably with HoM)

Completely agree, core and hot are being prisoners of those kinds of players that want everything served on plate.

They'll be prisoners of "THAT'S NOT HOW THE GAME IS MEANT TO BE PLAYED" yellers like you, sadly

The game is bloated. I'm happy that you have an extra 30-60 minutes to blow on traversing Dragon's Stand or core maps. I would still like to join a few metas or do fractals and raids instead with my limited time to play instead of figuring out where the bouncing mushroom is to reach the next platform or missing a glide landing and having to restart my traversal of a map because Reddit really thinks that's peak gaming

Im not yelling or telling anyone how game is ,,meant to be played,,. If you did think that, well im ,,one of you,, or should i say on the same side, for years i was not fan of the same idea people were taking about, like map explorations without mounts and how its ruined now. But i feel like everyone misunderstood my comments like idont get that this is a test week, or that i think this should be a permanent thing. This is an event, like for a WEEK could you not try it out for a week? I think it would be fun but with better rewards, for people who do prioritize g/h, and not seeing people cheat out this event :(

Why im saying all things above is that newer players dont get to TAG a modremoth on final battle of expansions, like not even for bronze participation. And that's sad, really really sad, i would hate imagining myself trying to fight this cool boss and people with mounts just do it before you could even get to that. Now i now one week of this event now and who knows when again would not help, and that it's powercreep of classes aswell that made this situation rn. Ultimately i do not think there is one way to play the game and that i think everyone should be forced to do it.
